I don't know how this place has such good reviews but all I can do is tell of my experience and let…read moreit go at that. Pam tried very hard to convince me that I needed an $800.00 deep cleaning. What I didn't tell her is that I got a deep cleaning less than 6 months prior. She said my gums bled a little as she was poking around with her metal tool. Well, I have not seen any blood on my gums for at least 15 years no matter how much I brush and floss which is a lot hence the lack of blood. When I told her I wasn't going to do that, she got another woman ( I forget her name. ) to come in and assure me that now is the best time because blah blah blah. When I denied them, they both looked disappointed and defeated. Almost depressed! I did have to get a minor procedure done on a molar so now enter Dr. Karren a few weeks later. He jabbed me with his needle and I let out a yelp from the pain and he didn't say one damned word. He just kept jabbing about 3 more needles because he seemed very much in a hurry. He didn't wait in between needles. Just BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM! I can't say if he overbooks because he wants to do as much work as possible to bring in the $$$ but he definitely seemed to be in a hurry as he was running around from patient to patient. The guy lacked bedside manner to say the last and I believe he has become desensitized to people yelping in pain because he's heard it so many times. Also, their equipment looks very outdated. The way they take xrays is decades old. I've gone to another dentist since and his xray machine looks space ago and they use a painless needle called "The Wand". It's a revolutionary tool to painlessly inject novocaine. In my opinion "Dr". Karren is living in the dark ages and his office is more about the $$$ than anything else. Again, how they have so many good reviews is beyond me but I told of my experience so you be the judge.

Finally you meet with Celina the dental hygienist, she is friendly and thorough. I was happy, I received good service and was told my teeth look good and was not sold things I don't need. I'm not really nervous at the dentist despite having really bad teeth, but he still made me feel even more comfortable during my visit. I watched him interact with staff and another patient. I saw all I needed to see. He is a good guy...a people person. I like him and his energy. Unfortunately, I had to be referred out to a periodontist, but Dr Pafford will be my main advisor from here on out for all things dental. As a matter of fact, he is such a good guy, I'd put money on the fact that he'd probably listen to me with a sympathetic ear if I came to him with a personal problem. Despite no work done, I have to give 5 stars. Michelle, the lady that helped set me up as a new patient in the system, was also great. Bailey was knowledgeable and informative. She was kind and acknowledged that I probably knew some of the stuff she was going to tell me, but since she likes to be thorough, she was going to go over the info with me.

This year I thought it would be good to get a fresh start with a completely new dentist and leave the chain I was previously going to that had new doctors every time I went. Instead of hunting around online or calling my insurance company, I sought out a friend who is in the dental field. My friend recommended me to Dr. Hughes and I couldn't be happier. I had my first day of major dental work today (two crowns and 4 cavities). Dr. Hughes has the newest Cerec machine that actually makes the crowns at the office while you wait. It is great to go in and leave with your real crowns the same day instead of the temporary business I have dealt with in the past (cubic zirconia strength crowns). He also has another cool machine that keeps your mouth open, your tongue depressed, and does the suction at the same time. The cool part about this system is that the dental assistant doesn't have to be in your mouth suctioning and spraying while the dentist is also working. There are a few other points I would like to touch on, namely very friendly and informative staff as well as a super clean office. The people that work there couldn't be nicer. I was there for so long today, I missed lunch and my blood sugar dropped a bit. The next thing you know, the dentist, Dr. Hughes, was serving me a piece of cake from Paradise Bakery. I've gone to North Mountain dentistry for over 10 years. Dr. Rosen was absolutely amazing and when…read morehe decided to leave and sell his practice I was hesitant to stay but decided to stick it out. Since he has left, the practice has changed drastically. Although there is new technology, it seems they care more about money and upselling (tooth brushes, waterpiks, etc.) than their patients. I used to know everyone in the office and they actually took the time to get to know you. Now, it's like they rush through appts and try to get you out as fast as possible (which can be nice, but when did places become all about financial gain). I had to cancel an upcoming appt due to a family emergency and even tho I gave over 24 hours notice, since I didn't give 48 hours they said they are charging me a $60 fee. I can't even tell you the amount of times I had to wait because they were "running behind" or "short staffed" but apparently my time isn't as valuable because I'm unable to charge them a fee for making me wait. Welp, that cancellation fee was the final straw for me. They can get their fee and lose a patient who has gone there for years because I value customer service, understanding, and empathy over their advanced technology and lack of customer care. UPDATE to response: I called your practice with tears rolling down my face as I had just received bad news but wanted to call to give you notice as soon as possible that I wouldn't be able to make my appointment. There was zero concern or compassion from Jenny (I believe that was her name) just a monotone "there's a $60 cancellation fee for less than 24 hours notice, oh I meant less than 48 hour notice." Meanwhile I'm choking back tears all while trying to be considerate of YOUR time. So no, I don't believe your office offers compassion or empathy. I did receive your one voicemail attempt to talk to me about my review. Again, my time is just as valuable and while you "attempt" to not run behind schedule, I also attempted to give you notice of my emergency and not being able to make the appt yet you feel the need to charge me and unfortunately I cannot do the same. There's no need to contact me further, I will not be returning nor will I recommend. I hope this office can return to what it once was when it comes to patient care and real compassion.
