Hi, my name is Courtney and I'd rather scoop out my own eyeballs with two rusty spoons than step…read morefoot in a dentist's office. Like...for.really.real. Because of a particularly traumatic dental experience ages ago, I took a dental-visit hiatus for, uh, a few years. Maybe more than a few years. And then, you know, five kids, etc. Wellllll, my littlest is now in school full day so I have no excuse to neglect my oral health a minute longer. SIGH. Fine. I'll go, I said to myself, but I'll hate it. I'll go, but it's going to be awful. Terrible. THE WORST THING EVER. Knowing my teeth were a bit...rough, I asked to go exam first instead of jumping into a full-blown cleaning. Enter Lea, the angel of teeth. Perhaps she's the real life Tooth Fairy? I don't know. But what I do know is this: this woman is magic. She was my starting point: she's the hygienist and took all my x-rays, did a preliminary exam, etc. You know how some people just WAFT goodness and kindness? Yeah, that's Lea. Knowing my intense anxiety, she explained everything every step of the way and checked in on my comfort throughout. She's a great conversationalist and it really helped me to stay calm and not obsessively focused on my mouth. I met Dr. Carly briefly at this point, but my first two appointments were with Lea (the first aforementioned and then a second one for another round of "deep cleaning"). Today's appointment was all Dr. Carly and she is *awesome*. I spent all last night tossing and turning and lamenting and even before we started...ugh, I was riddled with anxiety. But here's the thing: Dr. Carly is a gentle dentist with incredible precision and she's not at all shy with the novocaine. My appointment was this morning and I'm still pretty numb at almost five at night. Trust me...I am *not* complaining. I didn't feel a THING while she worked her magic. And now I am officially cavity free. She checked in on my comfort throughout, asked me if I needed breaks, etc. I felt like she was truly concerned with my comfort and sought to make this experience entirely positive. She succeeded. And then some. Additional-but-entirely-necessary-shout-outs: Olga was Dr. Carly's assistant today and she, too, is incredibly sweet--so friendly and personable. Helen, who runs the office, is both ridiculously patient (I'm a scheduling nightmare) and mind-blowingly organized. She was also able to unsnarl the dental insurance snafu and knew exactly what was covered before I was even finished with my x-rays at visit #1. Amazing. The entire office environment is SO positive and so perfect for the "high anxiety patient" (hi, that's clearly me). You immediately feel like you're surrounded by friends of yours. It's such a welcoming practice. Seriously so. If you've been on the fence about seeking dental care because you have moderate-to-severe dental anxiety, this is the place you NEED to call. While I'm sorry I put it off for so long, I'm so very, very grateful I found Oak Forest Family Dental. Dr. Carly, Lea, the whole team...just incredible. :)

Dealing with the billing department was more painful than my root canal. I have mixed feelings…read moreabout this place. If you are paying out of pocket, it's probably fine. I took my son to see an endodontist here about 2 years ago, planned to pay out of pocket, and everything was fine. The doctor was polite and caring, as was her assistant. Ive been going for myself now since December. I was told at the end of December that I needed 4 root canals. 2 of my teeth were/are cracked. I was in a lot of pain because the nerve was exposed. I was told that it would take 6-8 weeks to find out how much my insurance would cover of the procedures and that I could wait to hear from my insurance or I could pay a deposit and have it taken care of now. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford the deposit, so I elected to tough it out until the end of February to make sure they received word from my insurance. I called the day before my procedure to find out what my portion would be, and was informed that they dont know what I will be responsible for and there was nobody in billing to help me. So I looked it up on my insurance and saw that they approved the procedure and my copay was $236. I went in the next day, had my procedure, and then was told I also needed to see the periodontist because I may need crown lengthening. I spent maybe 3 mins with the periodontist and then he stood there and awkwardly waiting for me to leave. When I checked out, I was told I needed to put down a $300 deposit for the procedure I had that day. When I explained that my insurance approved the procedure and said my copay should only be $236 she told me that they dont have any record of that and I should have printed it off, but otherwise she cant do anything for me. I also asked that nothing be done about the crown lengthening at this time because I knew it was not a covered benefit and I could not afford it. I also scheduled my next root canal treatment for my next payday, 1 month later. I was supposed to have my next root canal on 3/25/26, but before my appointment I went on my insurance portal to print out my prior authorization so I would only have to pay the remainder of $196 for my next treatment. I also noticed what looked like a claim for 2 crown lengthening procedures with a date of service of 3/24 billed for over $3000. I immediately called the office and was transfered to a biller. The billing person started going over my claims and telling me what I still owed for and what I didnt. I was looking at my EOB statements at the same time and telling her that they have or will be paid. She continuously got more and more defensive with me and raised her voice louder and louder, to the point that she is yelling at me, "Sir! IM TRYING TO HELP YOU!" All while telling me that I still owe them more money because "my insurance didnt pay them as much as they expected". I was pretty dumbfounded that I found myself having to explain to a billing professional that that's not how insurance works. Then came the questions about the crown lengthening claim. I explained what I was seeing on my end, even read it word for word to her. I was told "Sir, it doesn't say that". She continued to argue with me for at least 5 mins that what I was seeing on my portal was in fact, not actually there. Why would I call and say these claims were there if they weren't? I actually really need this dental work done. I had to cut her off arguing with me and ask her to transfer me back to the receptionist so I could cancel my appointment. I do not want to go to a practice that if I need to talk to a biller I have to be subjected to demeaning, condescending, rude person like that again. If she didnt know the answer, all she had to do was say "Im not sure why it shows up that way, all insurance is a little different and we did send to see if your insurance would cover the procedure. Your best bet would be to call and ask them about it." I have a root canal that they doctor started and didnt finish and it's already been paid for, so I do need to go back for that. But I won't be back otherwise.

The doctor with whom I was scheduled encouraged me to stay, but it was a mistake. The newly assigned doctor rushed through the perio exam, I know when it's a good exam because a good exam takes some time with comprehensive gum probes. Then they tricked me into an appointment that I cannot cancel without a $200 late cancellation charge. It's a hell-hole.

I came in off a referral from my general dentist and could not of been happier with the outcome. Dr. G was extremely informative and eased my concerns going into the procedure. He walked me through my x-rays and pointed out why I was making the right choice getting this done. The craziest part about it all is that the procedure itself only took 30 minutes. The numbing shots were 2/10 on the pain scale, after that you feel absolutely nothing besides pressure. Dr.G - I hope to never have to see you again but if I need another procedure done I absolutely know where to go. Thank you!

Being in the Healthcare arena myself for over 25 years I have experienced all types of medical professionals that were not always so. Well it is always refreshing to have the most wonderful experience that I had with Dr. Griglione. Almost makes me want to go back and let him do another one just for the Hell of it!!! Just kidding!!! The whole practice was very professional and friendly and courteous. I give my stamp of approval for this office. Thank you so much Dr. Griglione and Lisa for taking such good care of me!!!
