I wish I paid attention to Lori B.s review of this extremely unprofessional man who calls himself a healthcare provider. When an adult patient complains of pain it should be taken seriously every time. I have complained of intense pain due to improper treatment and every time I am yelled at and dismissed. I started treatment May 2021 and now look at my teeth. I'm not sure if this doctor has gotten his bifocals checked in the last several years but this is not improvement this is backtracking and making more issues and problems with my bite and teeth. This man subjected me to a dimpling procedure as he calls it which caused me significant pain and inability to talk. During the procedure numbing agent got down my throat and I was unable to breathe and swallow. I was choking up blood in the office because I could not swallow or feel my tongue. The ordeal was traumatic. Every time I come into this a office the doctor Damas ignores my concerns for pain and laughs. I've only been seeing this doctor for a year and it feels like several the way I am dismissed and continuously sent home to deal with the chronic pain I am enduring from my teeth being moved out of the bone due to a fixed palate expander that should have never been put on or used with Invisalign but I trusted the doctor who claimed to have investigated my case and discussed it with colleagues. Instead 33 weeks into liners using them full time and every single one of my teeth has chipped and cracked and I can't even eat or chew. I am gumming food and dropped down to 100 pounds. The main reason I came to this doctor was my bite being off and wanting to finally be able to chew and eat. All of these unnecessary procedures and pain have accomplished the opposite and on top of that that doctor is aggressive and violent in the office when I try to express my concerns. I am an adult with a nursing and medical school degree and background but this man talked down to me as if I were a child. The most recent visit when trying to describe my pain and chipped teeth I was screamed at by the doctor. Dr. John Damas leaned into my face within less than an inch while I was laying down in the chair. Neither one of us had masks on and he pointed directly in my face screaming at me that I'm not listening to him "Lia, you're not listening!" Trying to tell me the liners are working as I am saying my face is not midline, all my teeth are in pain and are coming too far out of my gum line to be functional. In less then one year I went from having a nice profile to being unrecognizable not to mention in constant agony and pain. All I wanted was a refund because for the last year I have been ignored and dismissed when discussing my pain and inability to eat. During this process no one should be having difficulty eating chewing or speaking. I have no quality of life since this poor treatment because I've had to take off so much work for pain from speaking. I never thought one person could ruin your life so drastically and not even take an ounce of accountability to try to fix the issue. I've tried to be patient and discuss my concerns but Dr.Damas is unreasonable and unsafe. I felt so threatened and intimidated by him bending down into my face and yelling at me. I have not had anyone that close in my personal space or since before COVID. My mom does not even get that close to me. Dr. Damas was trying to use his 6 foot tall demeanor to threaten and intimidate me into continuing treatment while I'm in constant pain. Instead of listening to me he decided to yell at me and tell me, the patient, what I am feeling or experiencing. You can see for yourself the small photos are recent and my teeth where Dr.Damas attached a fixed palate expander for too long, busted those teeth out of my jaw and gum line. It is so painful. Every one else has said this is malpractice. See the results for yourself. I wish I believed this poor young girl who had to endure the same abuse I did. No one should be in constant pain and no follow up X-rays or imaging has been done. That is malpractice. Save your money and go to a real orthodontist. read more

This doctor is the best doctor I've ever had! He takes time and makes sure it's the perfect time to put my braces on. I just got them on and I love the dental hygienists when they ask me what color. Another thing they do is not judge when you don't clean ur braces fully instead they u advice for what to do. Nice place read more

I've decided to write an update for those of you who may be considering using Dr. Damas. After my original yelp review below, I received a phone call from Dr. Damas. He expressed his concerns regarding our experience and reminded me that he came in on a Saturday for my daughter in an emergency early in her treatment. He then proceeded to insist that I remove my YELP review, seemingly not taking "no" for an answer. When I told him I would update the review regarding his emergency visit (Isn't that what Dr's are supposed to do in an emergency anyway? Nothing so special?) he kept insisting that he didn't want it edited, but that he wanted me to remove the yelp review all together. I did edit the review and gave an extra star for the emergency visit, but I did not remove it, I don't know about the rest of you, but I value yelp.com and the ability to hear about real experiences, good and bad. I look to this site on a regular basis when making my decisions. I do not respond well to being bullied into removing my honest opinions about our experience. With this in mind, I will let you, the readers, be the judge of this Dr's character. Since that time, my daughter had a visit where I specifically asked the Dr. in writing, to please not place any chains or rubber bands on her braces during this visit because we have been battling severe migraine headaches, which he was very well aware. When I picked up my daughter from this appointment, she was in tears saying that he put on a new chain and rubber bands, even though I asked him not to, and that her headache was returning very rapidly. Needless to say, I was livid. We will be completing our care with Dr. Damas because it is already paid for, but I would not recommend that anyone use him in the future. Went to Dr. Damas to get my teeth straightened in time for our wedding. Dr. Damas walked me through all of my options. I insisted on Invisalign aligners, being in my 30s and not wanting to have braces. Dr. Damas took a bunch of scans and showed me how the process would work using 3D modeling software. There was a lot of work to be done, but the bulk of the treatment could be achieved in a year's time, just in time for the nuptials. He made me a night guard that I wear at night to keep my teeth straight. Huge success, but the real value of going to a skilled Orthodontist like Dr. Damas is that he knows the real mechanics behind Invisalign and knows how to achieve lasting results. I got my own braces with Dr Damas in 1992 at the Oak Forest location - Every teenager I knew who got their braces with him ended up with the best teeth when compared to all of our friends.... I am bringing my 11 yr old daughter in for a consult next week - If he is still as good as he was 20+ years ago, I feel confident in my choice, I will update this review at a later date with my "new" experience! read more

My son had his braces with Dr. Damas. They are now off and his teeth look wonderful! I looked at 3 different places before choosing. Eventhough I had insurance, I wanted to pick the right place. I felt like this office educated me the most, not just giving me a price. I also appreciated that with all my appointments they were flexible. Sometimes I would cancel last minute, or I would forget and get a friendly reminder. The office staff and all the personnel could not be better! My first experience with Dr. Damas and his staff was about 5 years ago when I had invisalign braces. Things could not have gone any better. My teeth still look great!! . Flash forward to 2013 and my teenage daughters are now patients of Dr. Damas. I have never had any problems with my insurance coverage's and everything was clearly explained to me and my wife prior to both kids getting there braces. And wait till you see the newly remodeled office! It also helps that the Dr.Damas is located in the Chase Bank building where we do our banking. Makes it a lot easier to make it through our schedule. I would recommend to any parent that Dr. Damas and his staff will treat you and your family like you are part of their family. read more

About ten years ago I was in search of an Orthodontist. I asked around and got many reviews and recommendations. Dr. Damas' name came up quite a bit in my search with such positive feedback. So, I gave Damas Orthodontics a call and started my treatments of invisalign braces. From the first day of my treatment to the last day the staff was simply amazing. Dr. Damas had such a light hearted and friendly assistants working for him. I am very happy to see that that same amazing staff members are still there, 10 years later. Because of my awesome experience with Dr. Damas 10 years ago, I decided to bring my son to him for his braces. It was so nice to walk into the office and be remembered. They made such nice comments to my son on how much he has grown, and that they remembered him from when he came with me to my appointments, when he was three years old. My son immediately felt comfortable. From his first day of treatment to his last day of treatment he was treated with such amazing care. As a mom, I was never worried for him during his appointments.
