My husband's memory is gone and he can't hear in his right ear and all the doctor said "you have wax in your ear" Then he said "we shouldn't take the wax out because then he'll need a hearing aid". WTF.! My husband has dementia and the doctor wouldn't listen to us! he also is a cancer survivor and they never asked any questions relating to his colon cancer. Then they said they're gonna take blood, but they did not tell us when we would get the results. The whole purpose of this particular appointment was to a get A. Get a physical B. Get the results of the CT scan C. Address the constant urination problem, He walked out the door before we could finish any of these issues and never came back. I need to have two doctors signature in order to use my long-term care for my husband, but this doctor just walked out the door and didn't do anything about it‍ my husband is 76 and they never asked him any questions. I would NEVER recommend this doctor to anyone! I will be looking for a new doctor as soon as possible! Betty Kelly

Dr…read more Shandling's office registered the device under my information with iRhythm technologies even though I had not been seen in that office since 2010. As I had moved out of the area 15 years prior, I never received any bill and the bill was sent to collections. It took multiple phone calls over several days to get anyone to help look into this case. Finally, the billing manager at Dr. Shandling's office admitted that someone entered my information instead of the correct patient's information so I was being billed for the service that patient received. I don't understand how this could have happened as I had not visited that office for 15 years, my chart should have been archived. There was no mention of how this happened or what would be done to prevent it from happening again. I'd think twice about coming here as mixing patient information is a serious concern and there were no/insufficient checks in place to ensure the correct information was entered. UPDATE: As of 05/21/2025, the balance from the collections company is still showing. Additionally, Dr. Shandling's office forwarded an email that inadvertently revealed the other patient's information including date of service, prescription number, device serial number, patient name, patient DOB, patient's insurance company, and patient's insurance ID number. This is a HIPAA violation. I have yet to receive confirmation that all records have been amended and reflect the correct information.

The liver doctor at hospital gave him a year to live. After he was released we were traveling to a doctor in San Gabriel which was quite a distance since my parents live in Lakewood, Ca. After searching the internet I came across Dr. Mankal in Los Alamitos and when I say he has been an absolute God send, I mean it!!!! While my father's condition is not without its issues, Dr. Mankal has been amazing. His bedside manner is incredible, he is patient and extremely knowledgeable and best of all my father is still with us, 4 years after the liver doctor at the hospital wrote him off. I also love the portal and usually get answers to questions or requests for meds within 24 hours. They also responded to my patient forms same-day, and my first appointment was scheduled within a week. Appointments The patient portal and ability to use televisits is really convenient. I am not a tech-savvy person, and I was able to setup my account online, pay online, and virtually meet Dr. Mankal in a televisit. After recently having had another incident of dealing with an inattentive physician & poor service from his staff, I would no longer recommend Dr. Phillip Yuan. In my experience, it starts with a seemingly endless maze of automation to speak with someone at that office, then once one does, one is promptly transferred to another person who more often than not just doesn't pick up. I've left voicemails that went unreturned for days, & often not at all. I've found Dr. Yuan's inattentiveness & failure to respond in a timely manner increasingly disappointing. I would recommend investigating alternate options to using this practice.
