We had changed insurance and hated to leave our regular pcp but insurance is a headache. We had asked several times from making the appointment til even checking in if they accepted the insurance and every time it was "yes!". Why else would we change from someone we loved right? Anyways, we handed over the card, paid our copay, and had what they call a checkup. Fastforward to Jan 17 and we get a phone call from them stating we owe over 400 dollars! Say that again lady? 400 dollars for a visit may not be much for some, but it is for us, especially on services that are to be covered. Not only did she have this aweful news, she was extremely rude in the matter. She talked over me and would not listen to me at all! She talked to me as if I had done something wrong. Mind you I do not want to pay an bill that was suppose to be covered, but this is my child's care and everyone knows not to burn bridges there. I recently completed Invisalign treatment with an orthodontist in another state. Four months after…read morefinishing treatment and having a permanent retainer placed, my husband and I hit the road as full-time RVers. While traveling through the area, my retainer came unglued and started poking the roof of my mouth. I called several orthodontic offices, and Strickland Orthodontics was the only one able to get me in the same day. Dr. Grissom examined the retainer, reattached it at no charge, and let me know she had concerns about how it had originally been placed. She encouraged me to return if I continued having issues. Sure enough, within 24 hours the other side came loose. I called back and was seen the very next day. They removed the retainer and fitted me for a new one. Knowing we were only in the area temporarily, the team expedited the process. After Dr. Grissom went on maternity leave, Dr. Stephen Strickland stepped in and was able to place my new retainer in less than two weeks. The entire team went above and beyond for someone who wasn't originally their patient. Everyone was incredibly accommodating, professional, and caring. A special shoutout to Megan and Carley in the Spanish Fort office. They made every visit enjoyable and were an absolute hoot! Taking the time to answer all of our questions was pleasing. He also made several recommendations that would aid in our desire to maintain good health........ that seemed very logical. Doctor thought that it might be too soon to be tested and advised to take an at home test the next day and if positive that I only needed to call the office and they would call the prescription into my pharmacy. I did as I was directed and the employee at the doctors' office didn't seem to be willing to help me. I hung up the phone and waited two and a half hours before calling the pharmacy and was told that the prescription was never called in. Now the doctors' office as well as the pharmacy are both closed and I will have another night of not getting any relief. Doctors! Please talk to your staff about how important it is to have compassion for your patients and to do as instructed.
