I had both eyes treated for cataract surgery in November and December 2014 and now I'm EyeCare free and loving it. I was 20/25 same day.

Clinch calmed me before he started the surgery and he called me after I got home to inquire how I was doing.

From the very first consultation, Dr. Weiss took the time to explain the procedure thoroughly, answer all of my questions, and put me completely at ease. The surgery produced excellent results. What impressed me most was not only Dr. Weiss's surgical skill but also the compassion and attentiveness shown throughout the process. The follow-up care was excellent, and I always felt supported. I highly recommend Dr. Weiss to anyone considering cataract surgery. His expertise, kindness, and dedication truly make a life-changing difference.

Our checkup appointments were fully covered by our insurance provided through Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield - Carefirst for employees of the State of Maryland. Following my February 26, 2026 appointment, for the first time ever, I received an invoice of $153.79 citing services not covered by our BC/BS - CareFirst insurance. I called BC/BS and the WEP&S Business Office on 4/29 and 4/30 to ask for an explanation why I received this invoice. I received conflicting information from the people I spoke to in both offices. The BC/BS person referred me to Davis Vision that apparently is now involved in the management our Vision Plan. The DV person informed me WEP&S is not in their network so this is probably the reason why secondary insurance coverage was not provided. I passed this information to the staff person in the WEP&S Business Office who said "there have been changes in insurance coverage, but your invoice stands"; and then hung up on me. I found this response to be very unprofessional. It would have been appreciated if I had been informed in advance of my Feb. 26 appointment that WEP&S no longer takes our secondary insurance. I have cancelled my next and all future appointments at WEP&S since they are no longer in the network of our Vision Plan. Paul from Chevy Chase

Jon answered the many questions I had and could not have been more kind when they had to bump my surgery back a week. Dr. Clinch and his team was so wonderful and put me right at ease during the whole process. Although I am only one day post op I am so thrilled with my decision to do LASIK. She told me that the next step was for the surgery scheduling department to call me. I never heard from anyone and after 2 weeks, I called to complain. Today, I finally I heard from the scheduler who apologized saying that they have been very busy. if I hadn't complained I doubt that anyone would have called me to schedule the procedure. The scheduler then asked me when I could come back for measurements which was news to me since the doctor never mentioned me needing more testing as I just needed a standard lens. I asked why they didn't do all the testing at my initial appointment and the explanation made absolutely no sense. That was strike number 2 for me. I have requested my medical records and will find another doctor. Surgery can be a scary thing and it's hard to have confidence when an office is obviously too busy to deal with patients professionally.s

After I saw an oculoplastic surgeon who performed several unsuccessful surgeries to treat my lagophthalmos, I decided to find someone who would approach my condition with a different strategy. I extensively researched oculoplastic surgeons practicing in the Maryland, DC, and Virginia area. My research led me to Dr. Zatezalo. From my first consultation with Dr. Zatezalo, I knew he was the surgeon for me. He is kind, smart, and compassionate along with experienced, talented, and creative in surgical procedures. He clearly explained to me that I needed full thickness skin grafts (FTSG) to functionally improve the operation of my eyelids. I had read about eyelid skin grafts from various Internet websites that described it as a last resort because of its complexity and routinely poor cosmetic outcome. Recovery may take up to a year or more before the grafts blend into the rest of your face and even then, they are usually a different texture and slightly off color. Dr. Z exerted no pressure on me to have the procedure. Deep down inside I knew I needed it. I had to do something as I could not go on living the way I was, and yet, I was afraid of what I would look like after a FTSG on my lower eyelids. I was using eyedrops nonstop during the day, and at night I would awaken every few hours in pain from the dryness and had to instill dry eye ointment. I wore sunglasses indoors because my eyes barely tolerated room lights or being out in the sunlight. I was miserable and my quality of life had gotten so poor, I did not want to leave my home. Dr. Zatezalo was very patient with me and again very honest. I had read many of his patient reviews of how he gave back his patients' lives through corrective surgery. I decided to move forward with full thickness skin grafts as Dr. Zatezalo recommended. In my case, it took approximately six months before the grafts started to blend in well with the surrounding skin and not be noticeable. My level of comfort improved immediately after the surgery as I now had more skin in my lower eyelids to help my eyes close completely. I no longer needed to use eyedrops and ointment like before. I was also able to tolerate artificial and natural light without sunglasses. I had the FTSG surgery in 2018. Today, people don't know I had it unless I point it out to them. The Zatezalo Group is located in a beautiful and modern office with easy parking access. Amelia and Kimmy, Dr. Zatezalo's staff, are super friendly, efficient, and helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Zatezalo to anyone who needs functional repair or desires cosmetic enhancement of their eyes. Thanks to him, the quality of my life has improved greatly. He really is a remarkable doctor and person.

Pre-surgery, he spent a significant amount of time answering all my concerns/questions, listening carefully to my expectations - which was a natural looking result. Would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

I would select negative zero stars if I could. This review is for the staff at Dr. Tigani's McLean…read moreoffice, not the doctor himself, as I wasn't even able to get to the point of seeing the doctor. When I first made the appt, I advised I was having periodic loss of vision in my right eye. I was told the earliest appt was a month and a half away, but they would put me on a waitlist to be seen sooner, and would call if something opened up. Of course no one ever called me. Fast forward to the morning of my appt and I get a message that they are cancelling due to a medical emergency and would have to reschedule, another 2 weeks from now. They offered the other doctor as a consolation, but I didn't want to see the other doctor (hence why I made my appt with Dr. Tigani in the first place). The person rescheduling me tells me of two appts she has on the specific day they want to reschedule me for, I tell her I need to quickly check with my husband as he had to take me due to the dilation, I call back literally 60 seconds later, and she tells me the appt was now taken by someone else. When I try and express my frustration, she gets nasty and tells me she's putting me on the phone with someone else. The next person gets on the phone and instead of trying to diffuse the situation, is equally as nasty if not moreso. She tells me to call my husband to get a day and time that will work and call them back. How is that going to work if you don't have availability that day?! That's pointless. I then said can you give me another day and time and hold the slot and I'll quickly check with him and call back? She told me they wouldn't do that. My husband is extremely difficult to reach during the day due to the nature of his job and they just wanted me to play phone tag back and forth with him and their office until we magically connected on a day and time. Unbelievable and beyond unprofessional. I've heard great things about the doctor but if you can't get past the absolutely awful support staff, it doesn't matter how wonderful the doctor is. I hardly ever write reviews so this should tell you how horrendous my experience was. Avoid this practice at all costs unless you enjoy dealing with major attitudes from the front office staff. I'd venture to say this is the worst front office staff I've ever experienced, and I've been to a decent amount of doctors over the years.

I had an appointment with Dr. Joseph and everyone I encountered from the moment I walked in the door was somewhere on a scale from unfriendly to outright rude. I had probably a 20 minute wait from the time I was brought back by the tech and when the doctor did come in, she seemed like she was very rushed and was super unfriendly. She took a look at me and said what I had, and then told me she would explain in once she was done putting everything into the computer. It turned out to be something relatively minor once she did eventually explain it, but I sat there for probably 5 minutes while she wrote the wrote the prescription, added notes to the computer, etc. and gave me no explanation during this time. I have NEVER had a doctor do it that way before. I am sure she is a fine doctor, but the experience in the office is pretty terrible. I hate it when businesses treat you like you don't have a choice and are stuck with them. You do have a choice -- choose to see another ophthalmologist.
