He reviewed the report from my endodontist that performed the root canal due to an infection in this tooth and Dr. Z said it sure was a bad infection! This crown was recently put in by another dental practice and was left untreated for months after it was sensitive to hot & cold temperatures. "Batman" said I had too much going on with my teeth and that he would not treat me. My lower jaw and gums have been hurting for a while due to impacted wisdom teeth that 2 oral surgeons are afraid to extract and other specialists misdiagnosed me with TMJ. Due to the fact that I have problems , he stated that my case is too complicated and he referred me to a specialist, which is defined as the branch of dentistry that deals with the restoration and maintenance of oral function by the replacement of missing teeth and other oral structures by artificial devices. Note that I do not have any missing teeth and that Dr. Joel Zaritski didn't even take the time to look at my in my mouth and at my teeth. I even asked, "you mean you wouldn't even do a filling out some cosmetic bonding?" NO he answered, nothing as he stood as far away from me as he could with his arms crossed! Make sure your dental work doesn't take much work or intelligence as this practice doesn't seem to want to work, think or do business with someone who needed a bit of compassion! I'm happy to share that I have found that very dentist. I take good care of my teeth and typically go in for routine cleanings every six months and rarely have cavities. But when I do have the occasional problems that pop up every 3 or 4 years, they are significant and costly. Normally I get ahead of things before they become an issue but with my big move and a pretty intense past 10 months or so, I had gone an entire year without a cleaning or exam. And then an old crown popped off when I was flossing, reminding me that I better get my ass to the dentist. I searched for a dentist on Yelp and was finding that barely any are reviewed around these parts! And then I found Mel Mel Dental with what appeared to be a very sincere 5 star review, so I took a chance. In all my years of going to dentists, I find my experience here to be the best of all. I rarely if ever, have to wait. There's a family-like atmosphere amongst the staff that makes one feel immediately comfortable. If you look at their website, they give a bio on everyone from reception to hygienists to Dr. Suditu himself. So cool! I actually look forward to seeing the staff and Theresa, the dental assistant, is particularly great to talk to. She makes you feel immediately comfortable as if you're about to share a bottle of wine rather than get dental work done. Finally, a note on painless dentistry. Dr. Suditu is particularly careful to explain exactly what is going on from anesthesia (he expertly administers the shot so that you barely feel it) to the procedure itself. Similarly, he explains your options and takes insurance coverage into consideration. These are all the things that can cause stress in a patient. They have two locations: one in Highland NY and one in Poughkeepsie, NY. Both offices have similar hours, they are closed on Wednesdays and close around 2 PM on Fridays. Thursday is the day that they stay open late, until 7 PM. The staff is very friendly and personable. The dentists are very accommodating. For example, in order to get numb, I need a higher dosage than most people. At first Dr. Lina did not believe me, but she quickly understood and gave me an appropriate dosage. They also will tell you ahead of time if what you require is outside their scope, and they can give you referrals when possible. They listen to your concerns and double check everything to make sure your teeth and gum are healthy. They also send reminders for cleanings and check-ups in the mail and via text. Overall, I am very impressed with this office and would recommend them.
