poor bedside manner from front desk staff to the hygienists to the dentists. Do not ask for any accommodation here

I went in with no pain for a temp crown prep. Dr. Nevid drilled too much of my tooth and exposed the nerve. The temp crown wasn't sanded down properly and since my mouth was numb I couldn't tell until novocaine wore off later that night. My tongue was raw and bleeding from rubbing on the ledge of the temp crown. I am a diabetic (noted on my chart) and get in n saw another dentist who sanded down the ledge and put me on 800 mg of antibiotics the day before I left for vacation. Since the nerve was exposed it was sensitive to hot, cold, air. None of which I had before I enter Dr. Nevids office. I get back from vacation and Dr. Nevid says according to the X-ray there's nothing wrong with the root so I'm going to go ahead and put the permanent crown on with some medicine that will make the pain go away. I immediately said "I do not think that is a good idea my tooth is throbbing". He repeated that he the medicine would take the pain away and put the permanent crown on. I realized he was just trying to get me out of the chair to remove any responsibility for what he had caused. I posted a review on his page and spoke to Wendy. She said they were going to give me a full refund for the crown and that I would have to see an endodontist to do the root canal. I asked what if the crown gets cracked in the process her response was well I would think you could use the full refund we just gave you for that. Wenday said Dr. Nevids office is not responsible for the root canal or the new crown. After being a patient of Dr. Nevids for over 10 I never expected this level of unprofessionalism. He caused the damage requiring me to have a root canal from a specialty dentist and sends me on my way to figure it out. I'm grateful to the many that have reached out n asked questions regarding this situation and agree with this insensitive abuse. If you are looking to have dental work DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF GOING TO DR. NEVIDS IN PAWLING. READ THE REVIEWS apparently I'm not the only one he's done this to. Our family of 5 travels over an hour to see Dr. Nevid and Dr. Adams, for several years now. They are always competent and friendly and make us and our young kids feel comfortable. The hygienists are wonderful and thorough. When our 7 year old needed her first filling, Dr. Nevid told us that he wanted to make it a great experience for her. It was a breeze! Had to find a new dentist mine stopped taking my union insurance. So was recommended to Nevid Dental. Need to say I'm not a big fan with changing dentist. but the staff at Nevid Dental were so nice and made me feel very comfortable! So glad i left this place. I always let things slide there but i have to speak up. The lady at the front desk I believe her name was Bernadette was always rude and acted like you were bothering her if you called for an appointment or upon arriving or leaving the dentist not a smile not a nice greeting ever. I had a front tooth that chipped and I had Nevid fix it twice and it fell out a third time. I called on December 16 looking to get my front tooth fixed yet again because the filling fell out yet again. The lady at the front desk was so mean. They told me they didn't have an appointment until the first week of January. How is that even possible?! You wanted me to walk around for the Christmas break with a missing front tooth. Like they didn't have a care in the world for a loyal patient. They also did a terrible job on my teeth and my new dentist is fixing the fillings from this place. Good riddance! read more

Whole family was just told we are cut off due to being late and missed appointments. It's a relief due to the fact how rude and pathetic the Dr is. The staff is amazing but stay away from this place unless u feel like being bossed around and pushed aside. I had an excellent visit with Dr. Nevid. After my semi-annual cleaning, he prepared a tooth to receive a crown. Absolutely painless. He was assisted by 2 different assistants during the process and they kept me smiling the entire time. Thank you for a positive experience. I interacted with 5 different staff members besides Dr. Nevid during my visit and they were all terrific. I think you should continue to do what you do because you do it very well. read more

Both my daughter and I are fairly new patients of Dr. Nevid (within the last year). His office staff is pleasant and competent. The office is nicely furnished and clean. No complaints there. He however, is a different story. He barely conducted what I consider to be a comprehensive dental exam. You know the type, where the dentist actual SITS in his dental chair while thoroughly examing your teeth, instead of standing over you with a dental pick in hand, taps a few teeth and sends you on your way! He has repeated this behavior during the only two visits I've made to his office. He also dresses too casually to be working on someones mouth. I will be looking for a "new" dentist. The town of Pawling deserves a better dentist. I want to compliment his oral hygenist, she was friendly and competent. read more

I have been going to Dr. Nevid since I was about 10. When he had his office by Pawling Train station. Most dentist offices have you spit in the sink, he has you spit back in the cup which to me is extremely gross. I had no other choice, he was the only dentist at the time that was taking my insurance. However, I had called today to make an appointment. I did ring back in January, but was told it was too early for my checkup. only to find that it wasn't. Today I was told that because I missed an appointment 2 years ago, and I missed one last year in 2017, if I missed another one they wouldn't be able to have me as a patient. So I decided to take my business elsewhere. These appointments were 2 years ago, I can understand if they were recent. But this is ridiculous. Life happens and as a dentist and a person, his office should understand that. read more

I saw Dr. John Finelli (who works at this practice) for two fillings today and it was, by far, the worst experience I have had at the dentist, or with any medical professional for that matter. The appointment started off cordial enough; from our first interaction, I did not have high expectations for his bedside manner but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He numbed the area he would be working on (lower right molars) to fill two small, pinhole-sized cavities that had developed in fillings I had done recently at another office. Fine. After I was numb, he started to work on my teeth. After about 10 minutes, he abruptly stopped, walking out of the room with his head in his hands, seeming exasperated. With no explanation, I sat there puzzled, waiting for him to come back. I heard him have a muffled exchange of words with someone and then loudly proclaim "Did you SEE that?! That was disgusting. I have NEVER seen that before." Followed by an odd cackling. He came back in the room after a couple minutes and instructed me to "bite down". I asked him *how* I should bite, up and down, slowly, fast..He responded with a curt "Whatever.". After biting down on the new fillings, my bite felt horribly off. Literally like a little pebble had been attached to the teeth. I told him that it felt weird, so he went back in with what felt like a drill or another buzzing instrument. He began applying pressure and the wave of pain that shot through my teeth, mouth, and entire body was so extreme I yelped, with my eyes tearing. He wrenched the tool out of my mouth and barked: "Okay. I'm not DOING anything. I am literally not doing anything to you." An odd response, considering he had what felt like a drill or buffer crudely applied to my teeth. Clearly, he did not use enough anesthetic as another reviewer mentioned. Now that I was thoroughly disturbed at being barked at like a dog and in a precarious position, I quickly realized this was not someone who is particularly professional, skilled, or stable. Unfortunately, the bite was so off that I had no choice but to keep letting him fumble through trying to fix it for the next 15 minutes. At this point I couldn't wait to get out of there, so I told him it felt fine now. It is not fine now. My bite is off, and the teeth he "treated" feel very odd. I really wish I had researched this individual before seeing him, as I see now he had a permanently closed practice in Mamaroneck and a Google review that describes a very similar experience to mine. If this strange and painful experience happened for something as simple and straight-forward as two fillings, I can't imagine what it would be like for a more complex procedure. I can't comment on Dr. Nevid as I have never met him, but I would definitely avoid Dr. John Finelli. Dental appointments are never enjoyable, but they do not need to be made that much more uncomfortable and unpleasant by an erratic, rude, and incompetent dentist. read more
