I needed to get a new photo taken to renew my Canadian passport. The requirements are pretty specific, but they knew exactly what needed to be done and I didn't have any issues getting my new passport! It was super quick and I was in and out probably within 5 minutes. read more

I had to find a new place for a passport photo since my usual spot closed during the pandemic. I chose This Pix based on reviews and its proximity to work, but the experience was disappointing. The staff member was watching a video when I walked in and seemed visibly annoyed to pause it. He came across as irritated any time I asked a question. Given the positive reviews, I doubt he's the only one working there--maybe they have other actual photographers. At my previous place, they took several photos in one go and let me choose the best. Here, I told him I only needed a digital copy--he took one bad photo, showed it to me, and after I said it wouldn't work, he took another. I didn't want to keep going back and forth when it was clear he wasn't going to get a good one, so I settled for the second shot. His cold, dismissive attitude made the whole process uncomfortable. I get anxious taking photos and needed someone to put me at ease--he did the exact opposite. In ended up taking a photo at home for passport and submitted that. If it doesn't work for whatever reason, I'll go somewhere else. Holding a professional camera doesn't make you a professional photographer. Honestly, even CVS might've been a better choice. read more

The two sets of photos I had from Walgreens were both unacceptable for an international passport, and the consulate referred me to ThisPix. I was in and out in less than ten minutes with a far better shot at a very reasonable price. These people know what they're doing and do it well. read more

Excellent swift service. Very sterile and fast turnaround. Had two people ahead of me and I was still finished in less than 15 minutes.

Very fast service, went there for new passport photo - the photographer doesn't have much to say, so I was a bit less relaxed. A bit pricy and only printed 2 copies read more

This Pix, the place I go to get my families passport pictures taken. Being from the Netherlands we need to renew our passports in NYC at the Dutch Consulate. This Pix is the place to get pictures taken that have the required format. The service is quick, professional, and friendly. They also do passport pictures for other countries. read more

My sister and I needed high res passport photos stat. We had no appointment, just walked right in at around 10:45am and were immediately served and were out the door less than 10 min later. read more

The best passport photos in town. Photographer is super chill and good at what he does. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone needing passport, business, or visa photos! read more

For me, the point of going to a place like this, as opposed to a CVS or USPS, is service. The shop has several 4 star reviews on display (door and walls), and the space looks great. But my experience was service with a frown. The guy that was working with me didn't answer my question, I looked at his partner to see if he might answer... and he did reluctantly. I didn't get to see the picture before they printed them. Even CVS takes a couple for you to compare and choose. I just waited for the pics awkwardly to be done and dashed. Wont go back. read more

Easy to walk in, super fast service, knowledgeable about different country regulations and great quality pictures for my new passport.

The photographer was courteous, professional, efficient and knowledgeable. The price for passport photos is the same as the big box stores, where your picture is taken by a cashier, with a smart phone or a cheap point and shoot camera, right by the snack aisles, under harsh fluorescent light. It is heartening to see small, independent businesses like this survive in New York City. read more

I came here to get my passport photo done when NYC was in phase three of reopening. The business is located in a large mixed use building, with other consumer businesses. Most other businesses were closed when I came in, and there were barely any people inside. I came at 11am on a Monday. There were no other customers, so I walked right in and had my photo taken straight away. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. I walked out within 10 minutes. Would highly recommend for passport photos. read more

$17 for 2 passport photos. With this price and the photographer's grumpy and lazy customer service, it's not worth it. He acts as if he's doing you a favor by doing your business. I guess it's his 'pandemic' price with his 'pandemic' work ethic. Will NOT recommend. BTW there's no menu of prices posted in-store or online (maybe you will get lucky getting a few cents off if he likes you - think who's doing whose business?) If you are an Asian customer and non-Caucasian, stay AWAY from this business. There are many other options to choose from and you don't need his "favor" and his overpriced service. read more

Very happy with my Passport Photos! I set out to find a place that can take better passport photos than the standard "mug shots" readily available. And here it is! The owner is very congenial and has a professional set up including professional lighting. There is a mirror to help you look your best, a seat to situate your self and some flattering flash photography. Pop! Flash! Best Passport Photos I ever had. And all of this for $17. read more

I was glad to find an actual photography professional who takes passport pictures. Most passport photos are done at a convenience type store and they don't give me confidence that they actually know what they are doing. I was looking for someone to take passport photos for European passports and when I started calling around different places everyone made me feel like an alien. This place was different. For one he understood and knew the photo dimensions are different for Europe passports yay! His little studio on the 2nd floor was professional and clean. He is a one man show but he was able to serve me, another client and answer a few phone calls. I had my kids with me and he was very patient with them. He was quick in getting a good shot. I would recommend this place over any other place in New York hands down. read more

After Corona, believe me. It is so hard to find a studio that takes a digital photo, even though Kinkos provides paper ver for passports around Rockefeller Center. I checked at least 3 locations before finding this place. Their service is efficient, professional and the quality of photo is good! read more

Just terrible customer service! The owner has no communication skills. He sits here tell you price and then hold cameras. He gets impatient when you request to revise or to retake photos. He acts like that he's working for you and not being paid. He has a face of people owning his apologies and money! It's a true toxic place to take photos. And after paying the photo, he charged additional $15 for the digital copy of the photo. Greedy!! Stay away please! read more

Awful service. No information about changed hours of work here or on their website. Such a waste of my time. When I texted one of their numbers (as the add on the store's door states), they read, but never responded to me back... read more

Very reasonably priced, fast, great quality. Got passport pictures done today. The whole experience was nice. Definately recommend! I used to go to wallgreens and ups for this but those pictures always turned out yellowish/grayish... This Pix Photography has professional lighting and camera. Location is clean and stylish. Paid $30 for print and digital copies. $14 if you only need one set(2images) of print. read more

The location and equipment were very professional, but the customer service was lacking. The guy seemed uptight and quick to become aggravated at the slightest questions or when I asked to be given the necessary time to adjust from the cold weather outside. The poor customer service experience began with my initial call regarding which entrance to use, as they have two options, and continued with pricing discrepancies compared to what was posted on their website. Despite these issues, I chose not to make a fuss and simply moved on. While the passport photo met professional standards in terms of size and quality, the stress evident on my face did not work in my favor. I accepted the loss and decided to go elsewhere. After all, prioritizing happiness, positivity, and a stress-free life is more important! read more

This place is always great. They know what you need and they are good. Haven't come across a better place than this

I do agree with some reviewers here who mentioned unfriendliness. When I walked in, he was on the phone and although he saw me, didn't acknowledge me. Took a while for him to get off the phone. Finally when it's time for my passport picture, he said that my hair was too big. I tried to push my curly hair toward my neck and back but he still thought it wasn't good enough. He helped me to push my hair back and eventually said it looked ok for the photo. I have never had any issue with my hair like this whenever I took an official photo. The final product, I didn't like at all. I didn't look like myself and I didn't like how messy my hair looked. I ended up not using the photo for my passport. A big waste of time and money, not to mention being insulted. I initially wanted to believe it was his lack of English language skills but that wasn't it. Some people seem to have had good experience here, but I will never go back there. read more

Fast and efficient. $15 for 2 passport photos. But not friendly. Came here with my infant to take his first passport photos. The guy essentially yelled at my baby to get him to look at the camera even though I brought a toy for the guy to hold. I'm surprised my baby didn't cry. So while it was an efficient process, the result is a very bad photo for baby's first passport. read more

Bad service, also I asked on the phone and was told that the price will be 17 dollars, however the price came out to be 32 dollars, and the photographer didn't even explain about it. read more

Stay away from this place!! He lied right on my face twice just make few extra bucks, pathetic Such a weird Asian guy, I called before coming to this place for the price, and confirmed when I came to their studio he said the same price. And now suddenly when he billed me he gave me different price When I ask you confirmed lower price over phone and just now before you took picture He responded sometimes my language is not clear, I might have said no and confirm this price. read more

I would NOT recommend that Black people (African Americans) use Pix Photography. On 2/9/2021, I visited Pix Photography for 2 Passport photos. When I walked in, the Asian photographer did not acknowledge me nor greet me. I told him that I wanted 2 passport photos. I speak English well. However, repeatedly, he kept asking me, what was it that I wanted. I repeated "U.S. passport photos". This Asian photographer demonstrated ANNOYANCE. At one point, he RUDELY slumped his body at me. In an abrupt and discourteous manner, he spoke to me. After I took my photos, he gave me the pictures in an envelope. He did not really allow me to look at them, nor after I paid, did he say "thank you." When I said that it would be nice to say "thank you," he ignored me, did not say "thank you" nor did he bother to look up from his desk. He refused to acknowledge me. If he was treating Caucasian customers this way, I don't think he would have 4 stars. He is SELECTIVE to whom he is unprofessional. If you are a Black person, STAY AWAY from Pix Photography. read more

The passport renewal photos I took here were rejected because of printing quality and ThisPix has refused to give me a refund.

No wait which was nice but we had a family of five who needed passport pictures and we were so rushed. The only person working was not kind and kept making sighing noises as we were trying to get situated. read more

If you're looking for a quick spot to get your passport photo then this is it. Two photos for $15 and you're out of there in about 10 minutes or less. However if you're looking for customer service, to be spoken to at all, or even for the photographer to tell you if your hair is out of place before he snaps the shot, this isn't it. read more

I can't even start telling you how happy I am that they are still in business. I have been taking my passport pictures with them for over 20 years and do not want to go to any other place. Despite the challenges of the pandemic and reduced business, they still charge you the same old price and with the same old great quality and service. I was happy to see that they still have Arnold's photo on display. 3 Cheers for This Pix!!! read more

I liked this place! I went for a passport photo because I was done with doing it at the post office.  Places like CVS would do this service too but I wasn't in the mood for that public display either.  So This Pix Photography is a real find and real photography studio offering similar pricing.  It was well lit and spacious with tall windows looking over 3rd Ave. from the second floor.  My 10 or 15 minute session was very professional and personalized!  It was just the photographer and me.  He took about 8 photos because I hated all of them.  Finally I liked the 8th one or so!  It was perfect because I felt rude asking him to take any more.  He was patient prompting me to always keep my hair out of my face, show no teeth and tilt my head a certain way.  He cut (two of) them perfect to passport size and I was on my way.  Please note, they are not really fluent in English there but somehow we communicated well.  I read another review where the photo was returned because the print quality was bad?  I will let you know if that happens to me.  Also another reviewer said they are rude to Black people?  They had that no nonsense attitude and edgy demeanor with me too and I am White. There was just that feeling I had to stay on their good side in order for this work and it did. They didn't say thank you to me either and I didn't even care. I understand though how a situation could get out of hand with them with the wrong person. In the meanwhile, I will be back in ten years when my passport expires.  Thanks again for a nice experience! read more

Went to get my baby's passport pictures. So unfriendly!! When I asked for the picture we choose he didn't even answer. For 35$ I expect at least more service! read more

Very unfriendly, unhelpful and unpleasant. He also knows the rules for the passport picture wrong. And expensive on top of all.

Went in for a passport photo. Nice shop and staff, with an initially pleasant experience of good service and fast turnaround. However, their website states "... with our experience we guarantee no rejection" and a rejected photo "...is a waste of money and your precious time." While the photo appeared to be fine, my consulate rejected it because it wasn't sharp enough ("where did you get *this* done??? haha"). I was sent to another photographer in the area and luckily I was able to get it done/approved in time before my appointment window closed. I called ThisPix afterward to tell them I had been rejected, had to get photos from another store, what their website states and asked what their "guarantee" means. They offered to retake (no point for me since it was already done), but no refund. It's possible I'm the rare case they messed up. But if you don't want to take a chance with rejection and wasting money/time, go somewhere else. read more

The understand the complicated Dutch passport photo requirements and their price is right: 15$ for 2. The oy thing to duck a star for is that they are not making you feel welcome. Stoic ally staring into the distance 2 guys sat there and worked in silence. No real answers to questions, just grunts and nods. But they deliver, and at a good price. read more

Great service. Quality work. This place knows what it is doing. I needed passport photos for renewal of a foreign passport (Australian) which has a different size requirement. All done in minutes for a good price. The representative at the consulate commented on the quality of the work and explained that incorrect sizes and poor quality photographs were the main cause of delays in passport applications. If THISPIX handled this unusual request so professionally their regular work must be good. Thank you read more

Bad attitude and didnt even ask for the photo size requirements. I wanted to make sure he knows the correct dimensions but he is overly confident and said he would not need that. The photo I took did not work for visa application. So that was a waste of time and money. read more
