I have not had great luck finding a cat groomer. One business that I used for a couple years closed. Then a personal friend who is also a groomer isn't available anymore. Over the weekend, I called and left message for 5 different businesses, enquiring about scheduling an appointment for giving my Leo kitty a lion haircut. Only ONE business called me back - this one. I let them know I had no restrictions on availability all week. They said to come in on Tuesday about 9am. I brought in Leo in a carrier at my scheduled time. There were already a few other animals there. But, I was very surprised that they told me to come back at 3p to pick her up. Six hours for one 7 lb cat??? And this was the best possible date/time. I wonder how long it would take during busy times. The cost was affordable - $40 which seems industry appropriate. The lion cut didn't turn out as good as I hoped. It was very patchy. And although we talked about them keeping a bit of fur collar around her neck, they didn't do that. When I picked her up, Leo was huddled in a crate still pretty wet. I was underwhelmed by the service they provided. The grooming salon itself was unimpressive. The storefront was pretty boring. Not much decoration or color or character. read more

I must say this place is awesome. I needed a new pet groomer because mine retired and I looked high and low. I finally got in with This-N-That for Pets and they were amazing. they treated my fur baby like she was their own. Katherine was amazing and Nivia the groomer did an excellent job!!!! I'm so DONE with Hollywoof's Grooming Salon in Grosse Pointe!! It used to be This & That for Pets (new ownership) and they did amazing when I had Kimora which is why I recommended the damn place to my cousin Donielle AND took Chloe there. I called them to tell them that I was dissatisfied with Chloe's haircut and the girl told me that they can give me half off on her next grooming or maybe I can come hold her face for them... WTF I'm not in the BUSINESS of dog grooming!!! I don't care that she's tiny NO other grooming place that she has been too has hacked her haircut like this BS!! The ONLY reason we went there anyway was because the other groomer up the street that she went to last didn't have any openings. I'm piping hot!! read more

This place is absolutely disgusting inside OMG. I walked in and right back out. It smelled horrible. It needed to be aired out swept plants in the front all dead and gross. The owner I assume sat in the back on her phone so nonchalant as the girl in the front (who was sweet by the way) asked her questions. The whole vibe was off and I just wanted a wash. Looking in the back seemed like a mess crates on top of crates stuff everywhere. No thx! I hightailed it to Grosse Pointe Pet Salon up the street and was completely satisfied. read more

We have used this groomer for a few years. The dogs love the service and come back happy and well groomed. We just drop them off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. No issues and the cost is right in line with the competition. read more

This place is within walking distance of my new house, so I thought we'd give it a shot, but we won't be returning. To start, this place is filthy. It smells terrible, everything looks dirty, and there are crates stacked up on top of each other. It looks horrible. We had waited quite a long time for an appointment after the shelter in place was lifted, so even though I was turned off by the immediate smell and mess, I decided to leave my dog for a bath and returned 3 hours later to pick him up. When we picked him up, I noticed that his nails were very short. Going into the appointment, his nails were quite long due to missing his normal grooming schedule. There is no way they could have cut his nails this short without causing him to bleed. He was sort of whiny and unhappy for the rest of the evening, and I absolutely think it's because of the way they cut his nails. They should have trimmed them back a little bit and and then with repeated trims we could get them back to the short level they need to be at. I fully expected his nails to be trimmed but still on the long side. I had no concerns with the rest of the groom, he was well brushed and bathed and his ears were nice and clean, and they sent him home in a funny tie. But I would not return due to the way they trimmed his nails. This could have been a 3 star review, but because I suspect they caused my dog pain they only get 2, because the price was very reasonable and the rest of the bath seemed fine. read more

Wonderful staff in an environment that is friendly and appropriate for grooming of pets As expected there is some residual odor upon entering due to the nature of the business However my dog always comes home well groomed and happy. I brought my Australian Shepherd in because our regular groomers were too busy. I instructed the young lady to only take off about an inch or so (scissor cut) give her a bath, & clip nails. I also instructed them to NOT shave her down as she is a double coated dog. Shaving a double coated dog removes the ability to insulate the dog from heat or cold, & the hair may not grow back in normally. When my wife arrived to pick her up she found that they had shaved her down! They claimed she was all matted and they had to. We brush her weekly and know there were NO matts, just longer hair. We are hoping the hair grows back normally. Terrible experience! read more

This place is disgusting. Smells horrible when you walk in and the floors are covered in dirt, urine, and fur everywhere. I understand some level of fur and dirt is to be expected but this looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Equally horrible was the dog crates stacked on top of dog crates filled with dogs barking and jumping around.... didn't seem safe or sturdy. The whole place is incredibly run down. I went in for a quick nail service. I would never leave my dog there in those conditions and I won't be going back. Only gave 2 stars due to quick service. read more

My golden went to This n that for pets today, and he is looking GOOD. I asked for a puppy cut, and they did a great job. The hair on his paws is so clean looking, I don't know how they did it. The people who work there were very nice, and seemed to have a good handle on my 88lb very energetic golden. My only complaint is that I dropped him off at 9am (we were the first ones there) and he wasnt ready till 4:00. The price made up for it x1000 . 40 dollars for an 88lb dog is a great deal. read more

We took our extremely matted dog here last week and I am very pleased with the results. The price was right, the people friendly and she was done on time. I have taken my dog to other area groomers who charge much more and a few days after her grooming, our dog has razor burn, which is not the case at This n That for Pets. Hi everyone as a groomer at this n that for pets for 10 years sure im not gonna have complaints but i would like to debunk some of your concerns.... We are a very thorough establishment we all have our own personal clientele that we have built as individuals at the shop there is 4 groomers one that does the cats and dog's and yes there may be hair all over the shop but hey we groom dogs it just shows work is being done lol... Some of you may want to hear and it may help to hear what is exactly done here at This N That instead of going off the reviews completely... We have our space and yes cages are on top of each other "securely" yes there is a few trays missing in the bottom of a few cages but that is only because they are "used" for our clientele and eventually wear and tear it is very difficult to replace them because of there sizes.. The dog's and cat's yes spend quite some time at our shop BUT let me clear the air... We have a process we follow and have been following for years yes we all have our own way of doing things but it all boils down to the same... Time consuming it the trim or cut down before the bath then after the bath the drying process and then after that we finish the trim or cut... But let me also add your dog's are not the only dog's there even though they are each individually taken care of they don't just sit in cages all day!!!! Also with the time We DO NOT RUSH our job or the dog because if someone rushed you and scared you would you be happy?? You don't go to the hair dresser expecting it to be a fast process or your gonna walk out with a crappy cut.... And finally Cat's it is hard to find a cat groomer and we have a groomer that does cat's but let me say this cat's are alot different then a dog cat's have claws are fast and tolerate very little so if the cat gets cut down washed and not finished perfect it is only because the cat's was not happy...... We try our best to make each and every customer happy and we will continue and slowly but surely we will try to help better serve you and your need but just understand that process and time is needed when it comes to animals because they are delicate creatures they are your babies and when in our hands they are our babies to we can't rush all the time....
