Merchandise ranges from hats and sweatshirts to homemade jewelry, candles and epic prints (scope the Supper Club map in my photos!) There are even edible treats like Maple Syrup and things for the little ones to like a fish fry tee. I left with a cozy Wisconsin hoodie ($40) and my boyfriend purchased not one but two Wisconsin hats ($35 each). This place has something for everyone and is an incredible way to support small and local business at the same time. Take your time perusing the very clean and thoughtfully curated spaces throughout the shop. I plan to return closer to the holiday season with my Christmas gift list in hand! Masks are required in the shop and sales associates also wore masks. Staff was dusting and cleaning when we visited. A+ on the cleanliness scale. This place was sparkling!

There are two floors with a nice mix of items and prices are very reasonable. Items must be added frequently, as I always see new things when I stop here and even the things that haven't sold since my last visit are often rearranged into new displays, keeping the shop interesting and fresh. Definitely worth stopping for a look.

We had bad experience here. While finishing picking out items in the shop our young child knocked…read moredown an item and cracked it. Before we could address it a young worker grabbed it from us and said, "I'll take that". When this happened were carrying around approximately $75 in items we planned to buy. We also assumed we were going to pay for or offer to pay for the item or son accidentally knocked down. Before we finished shopping the worker returned and told my wife to pay damages or buy the broken sphere. We then left to pay for only the broken item. While trying to pay for damages and leave the interaction with the owner/manager was bad. She was on the phone, then very rude and lacked any awareness of how to manage a situation like this. She was complaining to us and confrontational about her always taking the short end when people broke things. We left upset and insulted. Instead of leaving and buying several items, including the one we broke. We did find another nursery nearby and had a great experience there. I recommend spending your money somewhere else where it's appreciated.

After an extensive search I was in despair over finding a designer who could provide flowers with the elegant, striking, luscious effect I was after. When my friend in Wausau heard of my flower woes, she offered to deliver from Randy's to Chicago. She had brought me to his shop, Evolutions in Design, when I visited her a couple of years ago, and his excellent taste stayed in my mind. So, thanks to my friend's generosity, I was able to relax and hand my flower problem over to Randy. I put my trust in his design sense. It was trust well-placed. The 12 arrangements were absolutely gorgeous, really breath-taking. They turned an austere, generic room into a place of warmth and beauty. The price was very fair for the richness of the arrangements I got. No skimping here, no fillers, just glorious flowers at their peak bloom. I never post reviews, but this was such a positive experience I had to pass on my recommendation. Thank you, Randy, thank you!

Cheeky birthday cards? They have it all. The store owners are super cool and kind. Ask them anything - even if you are just curious to learn how they got to be in Wausau's River District. We weren't in the market for floral arrangements (just stopped in while strolling the downtown) but, we walked away with a ton of themed party décor ideas. They have incredible, curated spaces located in the upstairs rooms. No shortage of inspiration at this shop! This would be an ideal place to visit if you are planning a big surprise party or wedding. There's nothing wrong with that, but it was just disappointing for me. Maybe it was the time of year. Schalow's was interesting in that the selection of outdoor plants was huge. They even had some of the sculpted topiary bushes shaped like animals. Although cute, those topiaries looked like they'd be a lot of work to maintain. I did see some cute outdoor birdbaths and statues to complete the outdoor garden and there was a nice indoor area to pickup smaller items and ask for help from the staff. We were left alone to wander around the grounds, but periodically the employees would ask if we needed help. I like that they weren't pushy.

The kids were excited to see all of the cool outdoor decor and the workers were really kind to them. I think I was more on edge than the workers about the kids getting overly excited. There's a lot of cool indoor and outdoor decor here. This would be a really great place to go for a unique gift. I forgot my wallet at the hotel and needed to be somewhere and the workers were kind enough to hold onto my items for several hours for me. We will definitely stop back again next year when we are in the area again.

If the timing of a visit is right, there are also some baked treats -- cookies, bars, and similar -- ready to top off the grocery cart. Farmer's pantry has all of that but at a reduced price. It's a combination of overstock and some slightly dented items, but everything is priced less than at a regular grocery store. The inventory appears to change frequently. The people working here are friendly, but not in-your-face. It's a nice place to shop for reduced prices on things like soup, cereal, rice, meat, soda, baby products, cleaning supplies, pet food and general miscellaneous items.
