I needed 12 flower arrangements for an important event I was coming from out of town to Chicago to host last weekend. After an extensive search I was in despair over finding a designer who could provide flowers with the elegant, striking, luscious effect I was after. When my friend in Wausau heard of my flower woes, she offered to deliver from Randy's to Chicago. She had brought me to his shop, Evolutions in Design, when I visited her a couple of years ago, and his excellent taste stayed in my mind. So, thanks to my friend's generosity, I was able to relax and hand my flower problem over to Randy. I put my trust in his design sense. It was trust well-placed. The 12 arrangements were absolutely gorgeous, really breath-taking. They turned an austere, generic room into a place of warmth and beauty. The price was very fair for the richness of the arrangements I got. No skimping here, no fillers, just glorious flowers at their peak bloom. This place is a must-visit when you find yourself in Wausau! It is a whimsical mix of flower shop & boutique vibes. Looking for: Planters? Home Décor? Children's clothing? Cheeky birthday cards? They have it all. The store owners are super cool and kind. Ask them anything - even if you are just curious to learn how they got to be in Wausau's River District. We weren't in the market for floral arrangements (just stopped in while strolling the downtown) but, we walked away with a ton of themed party décor ideas. They have incredible, curated spaces located in the upstairs rooms. No shortage of inspiration at this shop! This would be an ideal place to visit if you are planning a big surprise party or wedding. The shop owners mentioned two weddings in Milwaukee they had coming up so don't let the distance deter you from considering Evolutions in Design for your special day. Omg. These amazing florists saved my hinder. I needed a BIG bouquet in one hour for a retirement party. I recently ordered flowers for my mother's birthday. As luck would have it, I used an expired credit card. Evolutions in Design called me immediately and left a message. When I called back, they were very polite and helpful. And when my mother received her flowers, she was very touched by the message on the card-it looked so personal! THEIR FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS ARE first class and THE BEST IN THE AREA, by far. All the arrangements that I have seen are very creative + they held up quite well. There are not a lot of florists in this area; I think that there are about 5 florist shops + some small inclusions in some super markets. Their shop isn't the largest but it may have the most interesting or eccentric stuff. Maybe 4 stars for their shop but definitely 5 for the product that you can take home or have delivered. read more

I contacted Evolutions in Design by phone. My cousin passed away and I wanted to use a local florist for an arrangement for his funeral. I explained that we (my brother and I) wanted something colorful and vibrant to mirror our cousin's life. I explained how much we had to spend and asked if they could help. She suggested a vase, but I explained our cousin was a country boy at heart and asked about a basket instead. They were kind enough to send a picture of the arrangement since I was unable to attend the service. It was absolutely perfect. It looked like an explosion of wild flowers all in a country basket. I adore this place so much I wish I could just move in. They are always full of fun, artsy, colorful things that make you happy to arrive. Outside or in, it is an explosion of inspiration and as many times as I've been there, it's never boring because it is an ever-changing canvas of whimsy and coolness! They have the best lighting and my treasured Swarovski spinning disco ball was purchased here. In fact, my home's most fun pieces all came from EID. No one can beat their talented florists. My daughter ordered flowers for me to be delivered on Mother's Day and they were not delivered that day, my husband and I were home all day and the door bell never rang. When she called them the next day they said that they tried to deliver the flowers and left a note on the door. This upsets me because I knew I had a delivery coming so I was checking the doors through out the day waiting and there was no door bell ring and no note on the doors. She ordered the flowers on May 1st so this was not a last minute order either. Needless to say the flowers were delivered the next day after she called them, but am still a little upset with the response about the missed Mother's Day delivery, and we will not be using Evolutions in Design again. Fabulous, Creative, Genius.... I love everything that Randy and his crew create. If you're looking for fun, fabulous flowers, you've got to check out Evolution's! They did all of the floral arrangements for my wedding last year.... We had compliments from everyone about their tall, illuminated vases and fantastic creations. Randy also helped us decorate, and worked closely with our entertainer, CJ-the-DJ, to create an incredible ambiance with his enhancements to our up-lighting and and projected monograms on the floor, walls and ceiling. What was most amazing about their services however was their pricing. While they're not the bargain basement option, their pricing was on par with other, far-less creative florists. We stopped in on my MIL's suggestion while we were visiting from out of town...oh my goodness. This is now my favorite store, and I wish we lived here!! Evolutions In Design... This Place is the Florist, Home and Essential Gods. Ladies and Gentlemen, If someone was to open a similar place in Chicago. Say L.P-Wrigley. You would feel the same way. Perhaps, an innovative shop downtown as well. Not all kudos... Their web site does not mesh with, nor do Justice to this place. Fell a little to the disappointing level, hence 4 Stars. This place hits all the senses, It tickles a few I hadn't even known about. Amazing Floral, Beyond Creative and Innovating. The products they carry in their gift line are personal - corporate. Amazing Space as well, 3 Stories of walk through bliss. Eye Candy for all. The Staff is truly a Bonus. Everyone there fits well in their surroundings. It's like walking into a Inventor / Gypsies / Florist Home. You kinda want to hang out for awhile, Grab a glass of wine and pitch in where you can. Just to hear the machine. This is an odd 5-star review because we had a mishap with our flower delivery when the recipient--our family member--was being moved from place to place during a health crisis. The flowers got lost in the shuffle, unfortunately, but, besides going beyond the call of duty in trying to trace the flowers, Evolutions in Design also took full responsibility and a loss. They took the high road when things went wrong, and this is the mark of integrity and honor. I would recommend them to others. They did a great job for us on another flower delivery prior to this incident. read more

This incredible local shop never disappoints. Don't rely on social media or their website to see/shop their selection...with new stuff almost daily, you've just gotta get inside! The "lack of" whatever on their website that disappointed a customer in a previous review is a genius marketing move in my opinion. If you want the most unique, fun, funny, and just plain awesome gift for someone, you're not going to find it on their website. You've got to set yourself free inside Evolutions In Design to explore! I buy many gifts here, and next thing I know they've wrapped them up in their cute gift bags. They even have these retro gift tags with motivational sayings... tie on a mini skeleton key to this bag and this gift goes from the shop to the birthday girl with no hassle. I stumbled upon this place on the internet and used them to deliver an arrangement to a business (I reside in a different state). They were friendly and helpful on the phone and the arrangement was delivered within a few hours. I saw a photo of what was delivered and it is lovely. The whole experience exceeded my expectations. Fun store. Always different and changing. Beautiful arrangements but all their work looks the same. I don't really go there for gifts because they all seem to be made in China. It is and inspirational shop, though, and way over the top here. Has two levels but the top floor isn't handicap accessible. Worth the drive. read more
