Review of Think Brain Candy Bookstore
When the people of Lebanon found out their only bookstore in town was being sold, they were dismayed. Many people would've liked to purchase the store, but that would require a lot of money and no shortage of dangerous risks. However Mark Staneart, someone very actively involved in the community took it upon himself to purchase the store and keep it running under his supervision. I myself have spent many an hour entranced by this quaint and homely bookstore called Think Brain Candy.
Location:
Think Brain Candy can be found in downtown Lebanon, Oregon. The store is located between a candle shop and the local theater. If you feel like getting a book to read before the movie the positioning of the store makes it really easy to stop by and do that.
Hours:
Think Brain Candy Is open six days a week Sunday through Friday. Being open on Sunday and Monday is nice, as most stores downtown are closed on those days. The bookstore is open from 11:00am-8:00pm Sunday through Thursday, and 11:00am-5:00pm on Fridays.
Products:
Think Brain Candy offers a wide variety of books, and a nice selection of loose-leaf tea. The bookstore has a very large portion of both romance and mystery thrillers to serve as the main attraction. Think Brain Candy has many other respectable sized genres such as Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Western, and Goth-Romance. There are even sections of the store dedicated to children's novels and baby books. The teas offered is loose-leaf only and prepared by either the staff or yourself depending on your preference. A list of some teas available are, Classic Chai, Chamomile, Cinnamon Mint, Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Licorice Root, and Oolong.
Price:
The prices for the books vary depending on different criteria such as, is it hardback, or is a it a very large book. Generally books cost somewhere between $1.50-$3.50. The teas cost $2.50 for a cup or $5.00 for a pot. Payments can be made using cash, check, or credit card.
Ambiance:
The best part about think brain candy is the ambiance, the kind of peaceful feeling you get when you enter the store. As soon as you step through the doorway, you leave the bustling hubbub of downtown traffic behind. You walk in greeted by the smell of freshly made tea combined with the scent of well read books and not too loud relaxing music playing all around through a speaker system. Once inside you are open to several ways you could go about your visit. You could be looking for a specific book title, the staff will pause what their doing to help you find it. You could just want to have a cup of tea, you can do that, while playing any of the board/card games located in the store. You could play the piano set up for anyone. Most importantly you can just wander around pick a book and read it.
Overview:
All in all I would recommend stopping by Think Brain Candy anytime you happen to be in Lebanon.
It's welcoming appearance and friendly owner will no doubt draw you in to become a part of it's wonderful community, and give a good experience not quickly forgotten. read more
