My mother, Mary Jane, inherited Aunt Bess?s beautiful collection of antique and vintage linens that were well used throughout our home. We learned to care for and appreciate these textiles that my mother displayed in both functional and decorative ways. I do not know another person who can instinctively ?feather a nest? the way she does and linens have always been a part of that. As the oldest daughter it seemed only natural to continue this tradition. So? with Mary Jane?s enthusiastic support, Christine?s was born in a Civil War era amoire in my entry hall. We started Christine?s Fine Linens in 1989 with two in-home shows a year. The focus was not vintage linens but rather fine European linens that will become the next generations treasures. My merchandise also included carefully selected accessories for the bed, bath and table. The opportunity arose to share retail storefront space with two close friends and the growth of Christine?s began. Christine?s Fine Linens morphed into Christine?s Feathered Nest as my product line and space expanded. The location and name have changed but the dedication to finding and supplying fine linens and accessories for the bed, bath and table have remained. The signs on the store and multiple websites state that the store's hours are 9:30 to 5 Mon-Sat. I came by a few months ago around 4 store closed up lights off everyone gone home no sign on door indicating why they closed early. Today on my attempt to shop here I pulled up saw a closed sign and and 3 employees staring out the window at me like I was cuckoo for trying to shop at 4:00. Frustrated, I emailed to the address on their website indicated for feedback to see if they actually stayed open until 5. I received a quick but terse response from the general manager stating that they closed early for "inclement weather" for the safety of the employees and that it had never happened before today without advance notice. First, what they called "inclement weather" I call rain. Traffic was abundant and none of the surrounding businesses were closing early. Secondly, yes it has happened before and stating that it isn't so is an implication that I'm telling a lie. Not a very nice way to treat a potential customer who rarely gets to shop during the bankers hours that this business keeps. If I were a vendor I'd certainly be asking myself if this business is even keeping the paltry hours that they are supposedly open. Or do they just shut it down every time it rains, the wind blows or a bird poops on their windshield? If you're a vendor here and not selling much it may just be because we can't buy your goods through a locked door I do try to support small business but those that keep hours that are unfriendly to folks who work for a living and in essence call me a liar are doing their best to keep myself and other shoppers out. I'll take the hint. Will I try it again? Nope.

I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with my recent experience with Montgomery Overstock. This…read morewas the second time purchasing a couch from this company. The first time I was present and had no issues. The second time my college aged son did the purchase with me on the phone so I could hear the entire transaction. We wanted to do same as cash xxx days financing. They did not explain any options to him just said to scan the QR code and apply that way. I had the money to pay in full but since it was holidays I wanted to take advantage of the option to split the payment with no interest. Nothing was explained about them having different types of financing options. On the day the couch was delivered and I saw the paperwork and logged into the account, they did the financing through a "bad credit" approval company which charged $100 more to pay the couch off early! Plus they added a $100 warranty that was never asked for nor explained to us that it was mandatory due to financing! A couch that we had an invoice for $798 ended up costing $1010 and should have only been $698 because we didn't ask for a warranty! Absolutely disgusting way to conduct business and try to take advantage of a college student. I should not have had to pay for a warranty I didn't want nor these extra fees to Acima financing! All I wanted was the same as cash financing! I would have paid cash for it in full had I known this company was shady!!! A $600 couch ended up costing me over $1000!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!

I called an hour before it was to be picked up, as they had told me to do and said they would have it ready for pick up. A few minutes later I received a call that the sectional was missing pieces and they could have a new one by Monday. This was on Thursday and we had already rented a uhaul and paid almost $300 for that. So they said they only option was to give is the FLOOR MODEL with a $50 discount. Yes, you have that right. He paid $799.99 for a NEW sectional and got a used floor model for a $50 discount. Unhappily we said OK as we really had no choice. When we got it to Altanta and unwrapped it, it had legs that were completely stripped and damage to the fabric(I have video and pictures). After weeks of emailing the owner, talking to the manager and asking for a resolution, the only option they gave us was to return the damaged one for the new one. Which meant renting another uhaul to get the damaged one back and retrieve the new one and get back to Atlanta. SO my son would spend over $600 on Uhauls to get the $799.99 NEW sectional. It just did not add up. I asked for an additional refund and they said NO. I will NEVER go back here and am so completely disappointed in this company! BUYER BEWARE! Reading other reviews, it sounds like this is common practice there. LOST my business!

People are scared to go since they had that shooting in the parking lot out front last year. More than likely, it will close soon. And they'll turn it into another Police station like they did the old Montgomery Mall. So sad, goodbye Eastdale Mall. This used to be the Place to hang out in the '70s and '80s. There are a lot of urban clothing stores gearing towards a particular demographic. I still don't see any mall security driving around the times I take my grandkids to chuck e cheese, and it's dark when we leave. I don't feel safe if you go in there.I don't feel safe taking my family there. There is no security. Although they have a sign saying, teenagers must be accompanied by a parent in the evening on weekends, it is not enforced. I see people teenagers being dropped off there. There's also a sign on the door no weapons allowed. Wouldn't have many customers if they put up a metal detector as I can guarantee you most of those rough looking gangster.Types are packing heat when going inside the mall. What today and made a photo of Spencer's, have fond memories of when I took my son there. I wanted to send him a photo. I don't see many cameras around inside the main mall corridor or in the parking lot. The food court is closed totally and got it out. They need to update their google facts about them mall. It is inaccurate, the ice skating rent closed years ago. There is a roller skating rink. Now, that was totally dead in the late afternoon. There was some kind of restaurant that used to be there that has closed. It is not a welcoming place. You feel like a minority in a secret membership club. Dirty floors and bathrooms. Selling cheap cell phones, cheap jewelry stores, cheap kids toys, cell phone repairs. Cheap sunglasses, watches every kiosk that can sell cheap stuff Is there. Meanwhile, all the nice stores are closing and leaving for good reason! It's very sad. It used to be a nice small, you used to see families and children but not anymore. Even my kids don't want me taking the grandkids after that shooting, they say, "Go to Eastchase!" There are no more nice decorations. There is no money, no more flowers in the planters outside. Since the home store closed over a year ago, no one knew has moved in in that spot. Before that, it was Sears, before that, it was Montgomery.Ward, when I used to work there. Maybe that's why the renter cop didn't want me making photos of all the stores that closed. He said, people don't want their photos taken and posted, I explained to him one picture I was making for my son and some other pictures of different and new stores to post on facebook check in as free advertising. Guess they don't want free advertising their businesses booming without it! I still shop at Dillard's outlet there. But they have the entrance to the mall blocked off. Chuck Cheese has very slow busines. The manager told me they were trying to relocate to Eastchase Mall, Iguess it didn't work out. I honestly don't see how the mall is still open. I thought the rent a cops harassment was ignorant, aggressive and rude. As far as yelling at me about making photos was unprofessional and unfounded. There are no pictures or signs, forbidden photography within them all, and the code of conduct when you first walk into the mall like in a high school. It says nothing about such a rule. It mainly concentrates on violent behavior because they realize what kind of demographic population is shopping and hanging out there! Many of the kiosks in the middle are standing empty as you can see on the photos. Really? Getting bent out of shape. It's really funny to me because there weren't even any people there for me to make pictures of. The place was totally dead, and this was in the late afternoon on a Friday. There used to be nice music playing Over the speakers, There was nothing music no atmosphere. They took down FB reviews, no new posts .

On Yelp, I saw a souvenir shop listed, Tours of Montgomery. But it wasn't open until Tuesday. I continued to look and am so happy I didn't find any postcards on Sunday or Monday, because the experience of going to Tours of Montgomery on Tuesday was priceless! We pulled into the parking area for the store (which is in the front), and as we walked up, I said, "Even the outside is adorable!" As you walk into the store, you are transported through the history of Montgomery! From the moment we arrived in the store, Ms. Valerie took care of us immediately, asking what we were looking for. When I mentioned postcards, she directed me to the various sections with postcards in a way that made it feel like I was buying something more valuable than a postcard! As she interacted with us, the conversation was natural. Her shop was a Tour of Montgomery with shirts, statues, prints, paintings, magnets, and so much more that covered every aspect of history in Montgomery! Then we talked about the neighborhood that the store is in. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. walked down the road in front of the corner where the store is, across the street is the hotel where Billy Holiday played on the top floor, down the street, the first black theater, and in the other direction, the first black grocery store. All of the history was in one location, but even more special was that Ms. Valerie took the time to explain it all to my friend and me, who had stopped in for a postcard. She showed so much love for us in that 45 minutes that I would have stayed hours if allowed. If you are ever in Montgomery and want to experience a piece of Montgomery history or just purchase a postcard, this shop is the place to go. It's been one of my favorite experiences in Montgomery and Ms. Valerie will make it worth your time!
