I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with my recent experience with Montgomery Overstock. This was the second time purchasing a couch from this company. The first time I was present and had no issues. The second time my college aged son did the purchase with me on the phone so I could hear the entire transaction. We wanted to do same as cash xxx days financing. They did not explain any options to him just said to scan the QR code and apply that way. I had the money to pay in full but since it was holidays I wanted to take advantage of the option to split the payment with no interest. Nothing was explained about them having different types of financing options. On the day the couch was delivered and I saw the paperwork and logged into the account, they did the financing through a "bad credit" approval company which charged $100 more to pay the couch off early! Plus they added a $100 warranty that was never asked for nor explained to us that it was mandatory due to financing! A couch that we had an invoice for $798 ended up costing $1010 and should have only been $698 because we didn't ask for a warranty! Absolutely disgusting way to conduct business and try to take advantage of a college student. I should not have had to pay for a warranty I didn't want nor these extra fees to Acima financing! All I wanted was the same as cash financing! I would have paid cash for it in full had I known this company was shady!!! A $600 couch ended up costing me over $1000!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! read more

This review is for Birmingham Overstock location! My son purchased a NEW $799.99 sectional and since he was moving in a few weeks, we paid the $50 for them to hold it until we picked up with a uhaul. I called an hour before it was to be picked up, as they had told me to do and said they would have it ready for pick up. A few minutes later I received a call that the sectional was missing pieces and they could have a new one by Monday. This was on Thursday and we had already rented a uhaul and paid almost $300 for that. So they said they only option was to give is the FLOOR MODEL with a $50 discount. Yes, you have that right. He paid $799.99 for a NEW sectional and got a used floor model for a $50 discount. Unhappily we said OK as we really had no choice. When we got it to Altanta and unwrapped it, it had legs that were completely stripped and damage to the fabric(I have video and pictures). After weeks of emailing the owner, talking to the manager and asking for a resolution, the only option they gave us was to return the damaged one for the new one. Which meant renting another uhaul to get the damaged one back and retrieve the new one and get back to Atlanta. SO my son would spend over $600 on Uhauls to get the $799.99 NEW sectional. It just did not add up. I asked for an additional refund and they said NO. I will NEVER go back here and am so completely disappointed in this company! BUYER BEWARE! On 11/10/24 I purchased the 5 piece bedrm set that was advertised for $498.00 or so. The total price came to $533.50. They stated the other pieces would be in later, the dresser and the mirror. As we were leaving out 1 of the young men who was loading ran out and said the mirror was available so we took it. They told me it would be a week before the dresser would be in and that they would call me when it was there. 2 weeks go by no phone call we call them they said another week to get it in . called back young lady with no professional phone demeanor or in person said she did not have it in and gave me some bogus email that no one responds to. At this point no offer of 2 nightstands or offer of chest or anything was given at this point I want the value of the dresser back $242.00 dollars refunded immediately. So I can go to a more reputable furniture store to purchase a dressor. Horrible service will never use again. read more

Great options of discounted furniture. They helped us load it in the truck. There are a couple of spots in the fabric of the couch that aren't great, but it came fully packaged so it is probably the manufacturer. Both managers were really nice and helpful. My story is long! Short version: I purchased a sectional for $1200 put $900 down and financed $300, was told don't miss that first payment it's going to double. So boom I made that first payment early and the price still doubled,so I went ahead and just paid it off! I picked the furniture up got it out the plastic boom only one decorative pillow but when I picked the sectional out it had 6 of the same pillows, but I got one! Then the QUALITY one of the zippers on the actual sectional pillow that can not be removed zipper is busted and don't zip up,so the stuffing hangs out some. I did not call the company or bother with it because I don't need the added stress arguing for it to be my word against someone else's. What I will do is let other people know not to waste time or money with this company, it's not worth it. Paying $1200 for a piece of furniture you would think your getting quality. We went to Montgomery Overstock on January 29th and ordered a bedroom set. Chris informed us that they had all of the pieces except for a nightstand that would have to be ordered. Chris said our bedroom set would be delivered on February 15th and that someone would call us when it was on it's way. Well, we received no phone call. We called Montgomery Overstock multiple times and left messages and no one ever called us back. We gave them a little grace because we know everything has been slow to ship with all that has been going on it this world but, It is now April 16th and we still can't get anyone to call us back so we drive to Montgomery Overstock, we live about 45 minutes away from there. By this time we are so frustrated with them that all we want is our money back and to be done with them. When we get there everyone is sitting around eating. Chris greets us and we explain the situation, he gets his manager Dee and she is clearly irritated that we have interrupted her lunch. We explain the situation to her and told her that we have called and left messages and no one has called us back and her response was that she personally checks the messages and she never heard one from us which was clearly a lie and she told us that even if no one called us back that we could have drove up there. If I had known that I "needed" to drive back to Montgomery Overstock I wouldn't have paid for my furniture to be delivered I would have just picked it up. Dee was very rude and said we couldn't get our money back and if we had a problem with that we could email the owner. They have very poor customer service skills and I would not do business with them again. read more

On 8/3/20 I came in to Montgomery overstock to purchase a living room suite I stood out side for about 30min in the heat waiting to go inside and when I got inside walk around looking at furniture mind you that it is very hot inside as well so I ask a young man if he could help he was putting legs on a sofa and answered if you would go to the front someone can help you so I went to the front I guess it was lunch time the young lady and another young man were getting ready to eat she said that she would get someone to help me so I went back inside the show room I really wanted that living room suite if I knew of some where else that sold it I wouldn't have never waited around the guy that I had originally ask finely helped me no one said anything no apology for waiting didn't speak or anything the worst customer service ever I ask is there any way that I can speak to someone at home office the young man said no so I said so there's no number or anything that I can have to speak with someone no ma'am so I said I find that hard to believe so I said ok let me put this living room suite on layaway then and only then is when he wanted to help me but I went back down there today 9/12/20 and saw a young lady that used to work there and was so happy to see her I ask when did you come back she said three weeks now I told her about my experience and how upset I was that I put down over half of the money for my living room suite to have had such a poor experience the last time I came she said I apologize for that how can I help you she have the best customer service I have ever had I told her I was so glad to see her back she acknowledged her customer even while helping me very good customer service and very happy to help she will be the only one I want to deal with from now on welcome back I do apologize I forgot her name but I'm sure you know who she is the only reason why I'm giving 4 stars would have been five had I dealt with her from the beginning read more

I bought leather furniture this time last year from and spent over $3000 for my family area room and the furniture has discolored already. Called manager concerning this matter after paying extra for what I thought would cover this kind of situation. They told me that the coverage that I purchased didn't cover that kind of damage. I recently moved here to Montgomery from Texas. I had to buy furniture because I didn't have much. I bought myself a bedroom set from here. Being that I'm living here alone (no friends or family), I decided to buy my stuff online and I paid for delivery. After I ordered, I get a follow-up call from the store asking if I forgot any items. I didn't forget any items, but they were checking because my order was missing a footboard, mirror, and a box spring. That was intentional, since I didn't want those items. On delivery day, I get the delivery guys bring my stuff. They forgot the bed frame. They said they would come back and bring it. I didn't think much of it as mistakes happen. Well, the guys never came back. The next day I start opening the things. Everything came in boxes, which was convenient because I figured the furniture would be well taken care of and brand new. Again, I live by myself. Since the night stand, chest, and dresser were all in boxes, I just cut the boxes open. There was no way I could open a box and take the furniture out on my own. Well, the night stand and chest were in perfect condition. The dresser, on the other hand, was damaged. I called Montgomery Overstock to let them know that I didn't have my bed frame and that the dresser was damaged. The delivery guy stops by and drops off the bed frame. He examined the dresser and said that he can either fix it or have it replaced. Normally I wouldn't want a damaged dresser, but it didn't seem too bad, so I said I'd be content with either option. Well, the delivery guy never came back to fix or replace my dresser. I called Montgomery Overstock again and spoke to the manager. The manager said that it's not their fault and that I had to fix it with the third party delivery services, since there is nothing they can do. I was a little speechless, since I ordered from their store and the third party delivery service is their employee. I kept on trying to resolve but the manager would place me on hold and never come back. I actually stayed on the phone for 30 minutes once when she placed me on hold. Nevertheless, it's been two weeks and nothing was resolved. I will never again buy anything from this store. I don't think I'll mind paying a little extra to get better customer service. Our family has extremely active twin boys which did a number on our couch set. So we set out shopping at several furniture stores. My husband isn't a fan of the process because he's not a fan of the salesperson hovering over you while you shop. When I walked into Montgomery Overstock we experienced a warehouse full of furniture option without the aggressive sales pitches. Our salesman John did a great job encouraging us to take as long as we needed and to use the kiosk for things we didn't see on the floor. His patient and productive demeanor allowed for us to choose our new living room set and head out the door to have it delivered later that evening. The experience was great and I was extremely thankful for the friendly employees because our boys aren't the quietest. read more

Furniture and bed fell apart within 2 months of buying. Should have taken a pause from buying after witnessing owner's attitude while shopping. My Income bracket as a young professional in Alabama from NewYork was pretty good - and wanted to establish credit with the store. Owner's response - "you did not qualify". I never saw this inquiry result in writing. So I paid by credit card for the furniture that broke in 2 months. Note: A few days later after purchase - got approved by a bank for a 2016 car and a home, because of having good credit. The best way to go furniture and bed shopping is to first do plenty research, read reviews diligently and take your time. Don't spend your dollars with a business that doesn't treat you right. 1) My sister received a dining set that had spots and chips of color missing. 2) I was at a different furniture store when I called to see what type of dining room sets Montgomery Overstock had. I decided to help them out and give them my money. I was debating over several dining room sets. The owner, over the phone, said that a table I was looking at would be in on a specific day and I in turn paid for that set. On the said delivery day, I received a call that my chairs were in but the table wasn't. So, I paid for a delivery and setup that didn't take place as said. I was told that it would be over 2wks before my table would come in. I have purchased furniture from other stores that guarantee your delivery date or they pay you. My advice: Give your money to a furniture store that delivers on time and if they don't they respect you enough to give your money back for not keeping their word and messing up your schedule. read more

I went here Friday july 5th 2019 to purchase a bed which cost about $450 which is a decent price. That day my mom and i went half and half after being told the bed was there. After they took our money they told us the bed was not there and to call back somewhere around 3:00p.m. to see if our merchandise was there because they had a shipment coming in I called at 3:12p.m. they told me to call back and 30 minutes which I did. They told me that the bed was not there. July Saturday 6, 2019 around 12 p.m. I call again no answer. It was until the 3rd call someone finally answered while I was at work I asked them what was going on with my bed. They told me they sold my bed to someone else who purchased it that day. When my mother called and asked them what was going on with the bed the lady claimed that they gave the bed to someone who had pre-ordered it before I did but that's not what she told me and my coworker heard it because I had her on speaker. (I was on break) I wanted to know what was going on with my almost $500 bed it was until later that day they finally gave me a time frame of when my bed was going to arrive at their store which was July 14th 2019. Again furiated I end up waiting until July 13th 2019 and I was at work again waiting until I got off they called my mom and told her july 12 2019 that the bed is there so after I got home my mom didn't tell me because she knows I get very angry about things that I purchase they didn't have any casualties but my sister went with my mother and told me that these Overstock told my mother that we did not purchase the bed and that they could not find my mother's name in system according to my sister it took them almost 2 hours for them to acknowledge that my mother and I purchased the merchandise and finally found our information so I would not recommend anyone who is looking for a bed to go to this unprofessional business because at the end of the day they will play you and take your money yes you may get your bed but it will be a whole run around with them and they really don't know what they're doing. read more
