Took blood work that day. They called later to let me know I needed to go to the hospital ASAP and that everything was ready waiting for my arrival. I had seen Dr. Allen in Fairfax a few times and had called to schedule an appointment. I was…read moreinformed that she had retired only by calling. There was no communication whatsoever about her retiring. I made an appointment and had one appointment with Dr. Ryan for 2 specific reasons, to get blood work for HRT treatment and to discuss removing my uterine cysts. Please note that I stated my reasons when making an appointment by PHONE. As soon as I arrived for my appointment, I was told I'd have to schedule a SEPARATE appointment for a surgical consult. Dr.Ryan explained that I'd have to get bloodwork before prescribing HRT. I received notification that my labwork results were in 1 day later. A few days later, I received a notice in the patient portal that my lab results were in and that the results were normal and that I'd see them at my next visit. NO mention of the fact that I needed a prescription for my HRT. I then sent several messages to Dr. Ryan that same week via the patient portal. NO response and she never called in my prescription. And then the office closed the next week, the week of Labor Day. After constantly calling that week, I was finally able to get a prescription filled by a random person- no idea who filled it. Dr. Ryan NEVER responded to my messages in the portal. There is NO direct phone number to this practice. It is entirely managed by a very poorly managed call center. Hint, don't choose the selection to hold your place in line with a call back. It doesn't WORK. They don't call you back. I will never return to this practice and would not recommend this practice to anyone, especially if you need a direct line to your doctor or even a nurse. Oh, and I suspect all these negative reviews are why they decided to change their name. shameful.

The billing manager submitted my bill to Medicare with an incorrect code so the practice sent it to me to pay instead. Despite frequent calls to request that they resubmit with the correct code, they never did and instead sent my bill to a collection agency. The most offensive part of this experience is that I left the billing/insurance manager in the Alexandria office three voicemails begging her to call me so that I could explain what Medicare explained to me. She never bothered. The practice manager promised me this morning that the billing manager would return my call this time. They close in an hour and have yet to hear from her.

Once I got there, i did the usual paperwork for new patient and paid the co-pay of $40. Upon meeting with the doctor, I was told that they did not perform procedures at his office and that he is not equipment to perform those services. I told him I explained to the front desk what I needed. He apologized and sent me on my way. On 05/25/18, I received an email charging me $133 for consult fee. I called and spoke to the doctor requesting that the bill be voided and tried to explain for a third time that I was very specific with the front desk what I needed done, that she should have known they don't do that and not made the appointment. But he immediately cut me off, very rude and I had to firmly ask him to stop to let me speak. In the end he said "I don't know what you said because I wasn't on the phone but sorry I can't do that." This office charged me over $170 knowing they could not help me. Perhaps this is small to a doctor but this is a lot of money to us regular folks. I had to go to another doctor for help and paid no co-pay or deductible and they did have the equipment to help me! Careful when calling this office, record your conversation if you have to because you may need it.

From Marissa at the front desk, to Charlie and Nurse Jill in the back, to her Nurse Practitioner Jay Won Bartlett, FNP-C, everyone is so pleasant and kind and helpful and truly caring. My 2.5yr old daughter is terrified of the doctor and has spent every doctor's appointment screaming. It has always been a struggle to let the providers examine her. But at the Allergy & Asthma Center, she is so calm and cooperative. The way everyone at this practice approaches my daughter and talks to her puts her at ease and comforts her. Not only does she sit still and let them do a physical exam but she listens to them and responds to them. It is such an amazing thing to see as her mother. And although my concerns may not be super serious, for the first time I felt listened to and heard and acknowledged by the providers. Not once have I felt as if my concerns were being brushed off or made to feel insignificant or rushed out the door. Jay Won Bartlett, FNP-C is so comforting and thorough and knowledgeable. I could go on and on. My experience with this practice has been the best experience I have ever had with medical providers, ever. I cannot recommend Jay Won Bartlett, FNP-C (and everyone at this practice) with higher regard.
