The food was very delicious and had great flavor. I asked for my food hot, and I got it. Made me sniffle, and break a little sweat. Just the way I like it. I love the food but was not happy that the price shown on line was different than the price on the cash register. the first time it was corrected but the next time I brought it to the girl who took my order's attention but she stated she would not be able to charge the price quoted on line as "I think the owner must have changed it so I have to use the cash register price". Stopped by for lunch and tried the General chicken appetizer and Thai fried rice with chicken. It was just ok. The general chicken was way too sweet and over powering. The Thai rice was too pasty tasting like they used too much chili paste. I had high hopes from reading reviews but it was just ok in my opinion. read more

I am not a "yelper" unless it's truly something to write home about and this place surely is!! After searching and trying several less than impressive places, I found Thida Thia for lunch and got the red curry and it was perfect! I do wish lunch had come with a soup and egg roll like most (they could reduce the portion size easily) but that's not a deal breaker for me! Can't wait to go back and try it for dinner! read more

I ordered the Panang Curry, Vegetable Rolls and Sticky Rice to go. The server was very polite and she was working extremely hard, since she was the only server on a Friday evening. I loved the Panang Curry, the spice and flavor were excellent, the vegetable rolls were crisp and tasty, and the sticky rice was so good. The atmosphere is very serene, except for the large TV, but if one were dining in, sitting on the other side of the restaurant would be a good way to avoid the TV. I do, though, think that TV completely takes away from an otherwise lovely environment, but this IS Tennessee... and Americans & TV... The only other thing I would suggest is hiring an additional server, at least for busy times. The young woman working the night I visited was doing an excellent job keeping up with all the tables, and with updating me on my order, but she was extremely overworked. It would be a shame to see a nice business lose a good employee for lack of appreciation of that employee. read more

Shrimp fresh roll (aka spring rolls) were decent, not quite authentic. I had the pork pad Thai 2 star, the flavor was decent but they seemed to rely on heat more then spices, the pork was slightly overcooked, but the noodles were excellent. This place is the BOMB! It's a wonderful little gem tucked right off Sam Ridley Parkway in Smyrna. When I worked in Smyrna, I hit this place up for lunch at least once a week. My favorites are the Massaman Curry, The Yellow Curry and the Pho is the best I've had anywhere! The service is warm and speedy and the prices are very reasonable. One week ago we tried this place and really enjoyed our meal, service was a bit slow but we gave them a pass. Last night (4/8) we placed a pick up order at 6:50pm based on my phone record. We were told 30 minutes until pick up. My wife was near by shopping so she showed up at 7:30pm to pick up the order. Note, this is an additional ten minutes past the 30 minute time frame we were told. When she arrived, no one acknowledged her for almost 5 minutes, and when they finally did they had her pay for the order and said "it's almost out". She did not leave the restaurant until 8:15pm. She sat there for 45 minutes with no update on the order, no apology, not even an offer for a drink while she waited?? It's one thing to be behind in the kitchen, but to completely ignore waiting customers shows a total disregard for quality service. There is NO excuse for an order that was to be complete at 7:20pm to come out of the kitchen at 8:15pm. On top of this, while my wife waited she witnessed 3 customers complaining to the manager about wait times and it didn't seem to phase him. I'm not one to expect handouts, but if something like this happened at my restaurant I would give a refund, free spring roll, or ANYTHING to show that I was sorry for inconvenience. The total disregard for customers made it an easy decision for us to make this our last order placed here. read more

I really want to give Thida Thai 5 stars. This is a gem in an area where bland chain restaurants such as Cheddar's, Panda Express and Logan's intermingle with second tier fast food joints. Overall the food is excellent and the staff is friendly and accommodating. My personal favorites are numerous: Panang Curry, Pad Woon Sen, Pad See Ew, Thai Basil Fried Rice, Beef Pho, Tom Kah. I'm getting hungry thinking about it. There are two things that take Thida from a 5 to a 4 star. Firstly, some dishes, mainly stir fried dishes, are lacking; the shiitake stir fry in particular was loaded with tough, overcooked mushrooms. Secondly, they can be inconsistent with spice level & notable ingredient exceptions (pineapple in the Panang) do occur. That being said, when it is right; it is amazing! Oh, almost forgot! Get the Crab Rangoon. Don't question me, just do it. Normally I am not a fan of the appetizer. Most places seem to just deep fry cream cheese in a wonton wrapper. Not here! It is imitation crab, but there are chunks of it in the mixture and it makes a heck of a difference! Never thought I would find such good Thai food in a little place like Smyrna. Go. read more

Okay, so I am a die-hard meat-and-potatoes type, and know next-to-nothing about Thai food. My wife and I, looking to get outside our food comfort zone, tried Thida Thai. I had the beef with sweet-and-sour stir fry. My wife had chicken Lo Mein. (Okay, so we didn't step that far out of our comfort zones.) However, both dishes were excellent. My stir fry had a fresh taste that I have not had before or since. My wife said her Lo Mein was very good, as she cleaned her plate. I am looking forward to going back, and stretching the comfort zone just a little bit more. read more

I recently took my son who was visiting from Hawaii. I ordered $8.95 lunch portion of the Basil stir fry with beef, I asked for no broccoli, double onions, and triple basil. My son asked for the same, trusting my judgment. I was surprised that when the bill came I had been charged $15.95 for each. Apparently double onions are $4.00 additional and triple basil is $3.00 additional, nearly doubling the cost of the meal. There was no discount for minus broccoli. In fairness to the restaurant the meal, although salty tasting to a salt-oholic, tasted otherwise fine. read more

This is one of the best Thai restaurants I have tried and I've been to a LOT of Thai restaurants. I say it this way. There are a lot of American restaurants who don't do American food well. They don't know how to balance flavors properly. The same way, there are a lot of Thai restaurants that don't do Thai food well. Just because they are run by a Thai family doesn't mean that they actually have skill in their own cuisine. This place though, they have skill in Thai cuisine as well as some other Asian flavors. We had Fresh Rolls that were fresh and full of flavor. They were probably my least favorite dish though because they were sliced in a way that made the bites WAY too big and the sauce was quite sweet for something so fresh. Maybe something a little more savory would work better, a peanut sauce or something. But, the rest of our dishes were on point. We had beef Pho which was so amazing...probably better than any that I've had at any Vietnamese restaurant I've been to. So so flavorful!!! And then we had Nam Sod (Thai salad) that was perfection. Not too much fish sauce, just the right amount of acid and ginger and onion. Perfectly balanced. Best Nam Sod I've had. And finally, we had Pad Thai (a dish that isn't my favorite, but is a good judge of a Thai restaurant). This was the best Pad Thai I have had as far as flavors. I wish it had had a little spice to it. A lot of places overdo the spice, but this was as mild as it gets. Because it was mild though my little ones ate it up. They LOVED it. And even being mild, I did too. The flavor made up for the lack of spice. I can't wait for the next time we are in Nashville so I can come back and try the curry and some other dishes. This is our favorite Thai food in Nashville. We order about once a month or so and usually get enough for left overs. We love their yellow curry, pad Thai, garlic stir fry and Tom ka soup (my favorite when not feeling well). Little disappointed that the portions got smaller and price went up with the new location (which we understand since I'm sure their overhead probably went up). Probably won't come as often because that but we'll still be back. It's still our favorite Thai restaurant around! Everyone should give them a try! read more

First time I visited this restaurant. Large menu to pick from, service staff were attentive the restaurant is relatively small and music in the background was very calming and making it easy to carry on a conversation without raising your voice to talk. I presented for lunch and was pointed to the table I should occupy with no eye contact or greeting. This same young lady just collected my check with NO words and NO eye contact or a thank you. Management needs to take care of the ant problem. Friday there was an ant crawling on my plate. I showed the waitress and she took my spring roll back to the kitchen and placed the same spring roll on a clean plate. Never mind that an ant had just crawled on my food. This was the second time I've seen ants. The first time was at the old location. I decided to give them another chance because we did enjoy the food. Words can't begin to describe the experience offered and served up at Thida Thai. A small little eatery, probably serving more to go than dine in while we were there. We were seated at the bar as all the tables were full, but this only added to the enjoyment. Not often do you get to watch your food being prepared. From the fresh sushi, to the tempura to the pot meals, everything was amazing. And the other dishes that we watched being served were just as appealing. This is my third time coming. First and second time was for lunch with coworkers and food and service were amazing with no issues. This was my 3rd time coming and my spouse and I came for dinner around 6:30PM with our 11 month old who was sleeping the whole time. They were not busy and we were seated very quickly. We ordered a dr. Pepper, thai tea and water. My spouse's DR Pepper had a fly in it!! We asked the server to please bring us another drink. She did not apologize for the fly in our drink... REALLY? JUST RUDE. We ended up ordering an order of fried gyoza, crab rangoon, shrimp tempura roll, and pad see ew (noodle dish). All the appetizers came out pretty quick one by one. Waited about 15 mins for my main entree (pad see ew) and i finally got it. It was delicious as always. After eating, we were trying to get 2 togo boxes but no server came back to our table after we got our food.... no refill or asking how things were. Service was not great at all today. The server saw me flagging her down but proceeded to take orders for other tables. I didn't want to be rude and yell at her but it almost came to that point. Basically we were neglected of services and we would return but only to order takeout. I wouldn't sit down in this place again due to service. read more

Was so happy to see Smyrna fianlly get a Thai place. Freindly service and the food is very good. You can also eat healthy if you choose the right items. I have told them if they would add brown rice vs fried or white rice to their menu, I would go there 2 or 3 times a week for lunch.
