I have been a patient of Darrin Bronfman, LCSW for over 9 years now. We meet together on a weekly basis to address issues related to my diagnosed bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and PTSD. During the years i have taken jobs which required travel or had medical issues that kept me homebound and we still met via phone or Skype on a weekly basis. Mr. Bronfman has always made himself available for after hours coaching in emergency situations by email or phone. He takes more of a psychodynamic approach to therapy, combining cognitive behavioral and DBT concepts in as well. I have improved significantly in the last few years thanks to his coaching and support. Mr. Bronfman has also successfully met with friends and family members of mine over the years to help them understand my illness and behavior. For several years I was in a dating relationship and Mr Bronfman referred us to one of his trainees for couples counseling. The trainee was well educated and supervised throughout her work with us. She helped us come to the difficult yet necessary decision that our relationship was not sustainable. We appreciated her guidance and were able to remain friends beyond. The trainee has since gone on to maintain her own successful practice elsewhere thanks to her experience at Pathway. From the beginning, it became evident that the clinic did not consistently uphold the ethical standards required in behavioral health settings, particularly those outlined by HIPAA. There were repeated breaches of client confidentiality, including the mishandling of sensitive information and insufficient safeguards to protect client records. In addition, the clinic engaged in highly questionable billing practices, including providing services to children who were not covered by insurance and failing to obtain the necessary authorizations. This not only violates ethical standards but could constitute insurance fraud. As an employee, I experienced wage withholding without explanation, including delays in paychecks and incomplete payments. When I attempted to address these issues professionally and requested my owed wages, I was met with hostility and ultimately wrongfully terminated. This retaliatory action followed my attempts to advocate not only for myself, but for the ethical integrity of the clinic. There were also instances of dual relationships and other boundary violations that are explicitly discouraged in mental health practice due to their potential to harm clients and staff alike. These situations created an unhealthy work environment and compromised the quality of care provided. Overall, I cannot recommend this clinic as an ethical or lawful place of employment. I have since taken steps to report these issues to the appropriate regulatory bodies and encourage others who have had similar experiences to do the same. She also asked that I bring in their phone number (BCBS) because she is "confused" and can't figure it out for other patients. NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY? Strange but okay. I called and my insurance said they could have called the number they gave me and that I shouldn't have had to call. Okay. I come in to my appointment. Rebecca greets me and is annoyed that I did not fill out the paperwork prior to my visit. Alright. She then informs me that because I did not call her BACK with my insurance findings I would be responsible for the entire cost of my visit. I told her I reached out to my insurance as she requested and she said, "I'm very busy here answering the phone and greeting patients so I probably won't be able to call your insurance today. So you'll have to pay the full amount." I informed her that I have seen several other specialists and physicians here and they had no problem contacting my insurance. I then asked her to politely call. She said she couldn't make any promises. I'm sorry -- that's your JOB. The way which she treated me thereafter is something I have NEVER experienced at a doctor's office! She then called my insurance and said I would be responsible for a part of the visit although I later confirmed with my insurance that was NOT the case. I don't even think she called my insurance. I later told the doctor about this situation and he apologized and then began to tell me some personal details about the receptionist's life and said she's going through some personal family stuff. I stay in constant pain and do everything that he asked me to do including injections. But he only offers one type of injections. I work as a professional chef where I stand on my feet for 8 to 12 hours. I don't have the luxury as him to be able to sit down and rest with my job and then go home and just ignore my customers. I depend on my medication to keep me functioning so I can perform my job, with that said, I depend on him to do his job and that's what I hired him to do. I just hope Dr. M Glodener loves his job so much that he doesn't retire anytime in the next decade or two. Not a lot of doctors are going into general practice these days. He knows my long and complicated medical history. I consider him to be amongst the things I have been blessed with. I hope he knows how much he means to his patients.
