I called and left a message regarding my concerns. I have yet to receive a call back. Instead one of your "caregiver" is still taking their child when working and not only that but hiring car washing services and using the water there without concent. This company is totally unprofessional. They completely misrepresented their services and fee charges. I have noticed other Yelp reviews mentioning to review the invoices and over billing. I was never told I would be charged over time fees for a shift. Nor did I approve those fees. Nothing was ever sent to me regarding the hours until I received a bill. It was also conveyed to me that some of the care givers spent most of the time on their phone and did not pay attention to the patient/client. Please think twice before hiring this company. Been using this company for a few years now because I was a customer of Home Care Assistance. This is a terrible company. Disorganized, confused, errors in billing, dropping the ball with scheduling and informing me of caregiver calling out sick. This is just a company in crisis. Do yourself a favor and search for another company that has good reviews. That is what i am going to do. read more

This agency ("HCA") was recommended by a relative who is currently using their care service in Orange, CA. We decided to try HCA for my mother in-law when she was released from an assisted care facility for physical therapy. The caregiver that was assigned was a young woman in her early 20's who was going to graduate school (MBA) in Stanton, CA. Unfortunately, this caregiver was an inexperienced driver and she did not practice good hygiene. First, this caregiver drove my MIL to the salon once and it was like riding on Mr Toads Wild Ride. I noticed several moderate sized dents in the caregivers car. Second, the caregiver plugged the toilet where a plumber came out and told my MIL that only pee, poop and toilet paper go in the toilet - not tampons or sanitary napkins. This caregiver never washed her hands as the soap dispenser level never changed in two months. She was the only person who used the guest bathroom. Lastly, when my and wife dropped in one day, I saw that the caregiver often checked her cellphone. I have since learned that most agencies tell their employees to put away their cellphones to focus on the client. When my wife and MIL decided to hire the HCA caregiver, she thought that there would be a face to face introduction with the caregiver, but she was told that HCA vets all new caregivers. Unfortunately, the caregiver for my MIL was fully unsatisfactory. read more

I've been employed for a couple months now and let me start off by saying that there is always work and the communication between myself, the clients family and the care team is great. The whole hiring process was smooth and I was able to work right away. When it comes to work needed, there are always shifts available to cover for extra hours day or night. Let me begin by saying actions speak louder than words. My wife and I had growing concerns about my mother being home alone during the day. Although we had a caretaker a couple of days a week, we realized we needed to go to 7 days a week and needed to augment our current arrangement. So, we began our search. I called Home Care Assistance and spoke to Anna and eventually made a in home appointment. Anna was very nice and shared with my wife and I all of the benefits and services her agency has to offer....so far so good! After meeting with other agencies we felt HCA was the way to go and let Anna know. We would start the upcoming Friday with coverage on Saturday, Sunday & Monday. When we originally met Anna she said we would have the opportunity to meet the individuals prior to their start. A couple of days after giving the start notice, the planned caretaker had a family emergency so another caretaker would be identified and we would meet that person early in the week. Additionally Anna would be on vacation and Lori would work with us. After a couple of days I called Lori and left a message but no return. I called later and found out that Lori was out I'll. I called again and my call was forwarded to the south county office and I spoke to Pam. I quickly realized Pam had no information regarding my mom or start date. In frustration I started a new search for caregiving. HCA SCORECARD The start date on Friday -failed Communication - failed Interview of staff - failed Pam sent me an email apologizing for the confusion and not being prepared. She also stepped right in to help us by getting a caregiver for Saturday & Sunday. Gabrielle came and met with us and we gave her all of the information pertaining to my mothers health, prescriptions, eating habits, etc. This was however the second time we provided this information. Not Pam's or Gabrielle's fault, they were stepping up and trying to pull everything back together. But it was an example of very poor communication. So now we have Saturday & Sunday taken care of. Next comes Monday and another caregiver. Because I had to go out of town on business I asked if Gabrielle could meet and introduce her to my mother since my mother had already met Gabrielle, which she did. On Friday I went to my mothers to meet the Monday, Friday caregiver. Very nice lady but she did not seem to know our expectations regarding med's and meals, not sure why because my wife and I had gone over this in depth with both Anna & Gabrielle. I also found out that the caretaker did not have any of our emergency contact numbers. This was very concerning to me and told the caregiver that, she said Anna had sent her an email but hadn't looked at it. I called Anna and told her what I had found and my concerns and they needed to get it together. I also asked for the cost should we go to 7x24 care and she said I would have it later that day....that did not happen. Communication- failed Provide information as requested - failed So the next morning, Saturday, I received a text from the weekend caregiver that she had been in an accident and that she would not be coming Saturday or Sunday and that she would notify the office. I forwarded the text to Anna and said not do anything and not send anyone. Anna quickly replied that she would get someone out, she obviously did not read my text. Communication - C This experience has been a complete and total waste of time. As I started this I said actions speak louder than words. In my more than three months of service to the client, my job eases me because of the excellent performance of my staffing manager Jeric Gigantes, who in one way or another never neglect his duty to follow up needs of his caregiver like me and my team. I can say he is Excellent as staffing manager! Then, Ashley who is assigned as our client case manager had been diligent, too to her job who was doing some extra work and patience to deal with my client. Inexperienced, careless, unprofessional, negligent...these are some words that come to mind when dealing with Home Care Assistance. My type 2 diabetic father was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in June. He decided in late October to stop doing chemo treatments as it was not working. My mom needed help as my dad's condition worsened and we started looking for night care on top of the personal day caregiver we had. Megan Irvine of Sanctuary Home Hospice referred us to Ashley Dadivas of Home Care Assistance who provided my mom with caregivers. Immediately mom complained to Ashley at the lack of experienced caregivers given to us. One such caregiver had been on the job for a mere 5 months and nearly contaminated my dad and his hospital bed with feces. The same caregiver nearly killed my dad later that day. He asked my mentally confused weak father to get out of his hospital bed and hold onto a walker so that he could be changed instead of changing him in bed. Unable to support his weight, my father crashed onto the floor. Hearing a loud bang, my mother ran over, helped him up and supplied him with oxygen as he was short of breath because of the incident. Here's another example of their carelessness bordering on negligence. A caregiver failed to change my incontinent father's underwear overnight saying that he did not urinate when in fact he had. Our personal caregiver checked the next morning and saw his underwear completely soaked which resulted in a 1"x 3" blister on his already fragile body. My mom had sent Ashley a text with pictures complaining about the careless service her caregiver provided and Ashley's response was "did you contact Sanctuary Home Hospice?" Ashley was more concerned with receiving a bad review than handling the situation in a professional kind manner so that my dad would be comfortable. It's unfortunate that we had to deal with a company as careless as Home Care Assistance. End of life care is all about comfort and pain management both for the patient and for the families. It's an emotionally difficult time and nobody wants to see their loved one treated in an undignified careless manner. read more

Stopped in to this office after a doctor's appointment near Hoag today. Been thinking about moving my mom back home. Darryl and Ana were helpful with taking time to speak with me. After about a 20 minute discussion I realized that Home Care might be out of budget for my family. Ana was so kind and was able to provide information on Veteran's benefits and some other possible ways to help pay for my mom's care.
