Delicious - chicken, broccoli and cream cheese
    Heather T.

We came here today for an international food group event and international it was! We split offerings from the pasty truck - the chicken, broccoli and cream cheese pasty reminded both the hubs and I of mom dishes from childhood. It was really tasty. Next on our little food tour was the mini donut shop that we had topped with strawberry cheesecake and s'mores flavorings. Tasty little gut bombs. The grilled cheese sandwich truck was third on the tour. We split a three cheese grilled cheese and it was ok but not our favorite. Nothing spectacular. The cheese curds we shared with spicy aioli was much better but again I could have skipped it. Cheese Perogies with caramelized onion and bacon hit our stomachs next. At this point I bowed out after a perogie and headed over to the South African food truck where I scored my favorite dish of the day. Braised short rib stew over a cornmeal like food with a side salad. A touch of ginger and perfectly tender beef took this dish over the top for me. I also snagged some bill tong to go which I have been wanting to try for a long time. It is essentially South African beef jerky but less salty and more tender. Very good. The overall event was well done. Parking is free which is great in Denver and they had people directing cars which helped. The vendors were all nice and of course it was great to see all the food trucks!

What do you get when you combine urban chic, cultural eats, bluegrass music in an industrial setting? The Big Wonderful natch! Take a walk thru the old Denver Post printing plant lot and you'll find chic clothing, sample local brews and enjoy authentic grub (arepas!!) courtesy of small business Colorado and visionary Josh Sampson (of Avanti fame). If you are a big fan of bazaar's, get yourself down here and be prepared to shop, dine and have just a plain ole good time! Four legged friends are welcome to this event too!

Beer, bluegrass, and local makers/artists?! I'm in! I went to a BigWonderful event a couple of years ago and it was small but fun. I'm so glad I returned for this past weekend's Oktobergrass event because this fun fest has grown and it was AMAZING! The ticket price was super fair (As opposed to the DenverFlea that was way overpriced!). The location was great! The ample parking was super appreciated. The food trucks and artists/vendors were top notch (and resulted in me making some unplanned purchases of earrings and a beautiful wood carving, but I could not resist!). There were many great breweries to sample. All of the musicians were incredibly talented- and ending with Everyone Orchestra was quite the finale! I really appreciated the friendly, lively crowd that didn't feel too overwhelming. I also think the move to recycle and compost was SUPER cool. I have two minor critiques- while I'm a HUGE dog lover, I'm not sure that a crowded festival is an appropriate place for them. I was tripped numerous times when exploring the breweries and artists. Secondly, the 4 PM special tappings were a bit of a disappointment. There were such small amounts and every brewery had such big crowds by that time that I only got to sample one thing. Overall, my friends and I had an amazing Saturday, and I look forward to future BigWonderful events.

If you're looking for something fun to do and it's a weekend that The Big Wonderful is in session, don't miss it! I went this past weekend for Oktoberfest. I didn't participate in Beer Fest but I enjoyed browsing all the vendors who set up shop to sell various products and clothing. There was something there for everyone. There were a number of food trucks to satisfy your food cravings. I decided on Little India and Rocky Mountain Snowflake. Who can resist Indian food and flavored shaved ice? Both were really good! Live music played throughout the day. And, it was dog friendly! It was pretty much puppy city the day we went and my pup had such a great time playing with all the other dogs. Fun for all!

Yelpers need to give The Big Wonderful some online love. They've taken over a formerly abandoned area and turned it into a great place to socialize with friends, try new foods, and check out local artisans. Upon walking in you're typically greeted by a gentleman asking if you've been here before. If you haven't, he'll tell you about morning yoga immediately to the left, where the food trucks, and that there's a dog park over there, bocce ball there, sand volleyball left behind the bar. There's a lot going on. They sometimes feature DJs and bands. If you attended, you would have tried La Chiva before their official grand opening, and RiNO glass students' artwork. Go.

Beautiful view of Denver. Great atmosphere to hang out, drink and eat. Problem is lines are RIDICULOUS. We waited 30 minutes for get some beer. We weren't too impressed with the food either. Everything is $8-$12, with long waits and mediocre quality and flavor. We spent $14 on a lobster roll... it was horrible! $2 to add a sprinkle of bacon - don't do it! The mini fried donuts were the best thing we had... freshly fried, soft pillows of fluffy dough. So yummy. Had a decent venison brat. Not worth the wait or money though. I think it's a great idea, just wish the trucks were better.

    Casual, fun, outdoor environment

The Big Wonderful is the perfect environment for day drinking with friends on a warm, summer day (or even a cool, fall day). Sadly, it was slightly chilly and rainy when I was here, but I can still see it's potential! The Big Wonderful is an outdoor bar surrounded by food trucks. I've only been to The Big Wonderful once, but I would assume that there's some variation in the food trucks each weekend. Which reminds me, The Big Wonderful is only open every Saturday (until dusk) and the final Friday evening of every month. The space consists of a BIG, open outdoor space (with parking), several tents to hover under in case it rains, an outdoor bar, several outdoor tables with hay bales as seats, an off-lease dog area, corn hole, horseshoes, volleyball, and a stage and outdoor dancing area. At least when I was there, there was a DJ playing music. I think the area is also intended to function as a flea market, but there was hardly anyone selling flea market-type merchandise. The atmosphere of the space is sort of hipster meets land-locked beach bar, if that makes any sense? Regardless, it's a cool experience. We'll definitely be back to try out some more food trucks and enjoy what's left of our summer days!

Really fun, really awesome festival! Great vibes, great food, good music, just cool all around. The location is conveniently nestled in clear view of the skyline, and there is ample parking available in the area. Definitely check it out if you haven't!

I love Denver festivals and certainly did not want to miss out on this one! I was not disappointed! My friend and I arrived shortly after 11am, which was when the festival opened. Admission was free up until 12pm! The gentleman overseeing IDs and wristbands were kind and efficient which made for easy entrance. At the front there was an opportunity for a photo op with a large yellow "Wonderful Bazaar" sign that seemed to be a favorite for a plethora of people. Walking farther in the was a couple food trucks and two walk ways with art, clothing, homemade goods/crafts decor and much more! Farther down the line the area opened up with more food trucks, tables to sit at, a dog area, jenga, cornhole, televisions and a large stage. There were food trucks with Indian, Greek, dessert, Mexican, and multiple American foods! They were delicious and I was happy with the array of choices. The one thing we did not realize was that beer was not being served until 2pm. This did not bother us but talking with other visitors and some of the vendors indicated that people were annoyed with this. We really enjoyed seeing all the different vendors and received a plethora of business cards which I will be sure to use! There were great hand crafted pieces of art that would be perfect for gifts; especially with the upcoming holiday season. Unfortunately my friend and I were not able too see the live music because they were still setting up when we left; around 12:45pm, and we had a plethora of other things too do. Overall we really enjoyed them experience and will be back!

I thought this event was pretty good. I honestly expected there to be a lot more there. The most enjoyable parts for me were the places inside the Stanley Marketplace, which I believe are static and not actually part of the Big Wonderful. The craft vendors were interesting, although not as plentiful as I would have thought. The Pink Floyd cover band we heard was actually pretty good, and that's saying a lot from me, as I am the biggest PF fan ever! I did appreciate the umbrellas, seating, and tents provided to help us cool off from the hot sun, as well as the A/C in the Hanger. It was also nice to get a free beer with our wristbands, along with discounts at most of the vendors.

June 13, 2015. lots of bag setups, good shade, beautiful view of the skyline.

What started in downtown at Larimer Square with dozens of artists has now become over two hundred talents chalking it up over several blocks around the Denver Art Museum. The way this festival works is sponsor-driven. Local businesses and organizations buy "squares" to which carefully curated artists are assigned with full autonomy in theme and execution to create, as long as the sponsors' names are chalked first. The artists are then given two days to create their design in real time, rain or shine. It's an opportunity to witness visual art in all shapes and colors. With the youth group and school opportunities as well, you've got kids of all ages being represented on the pavement. In addition to the visual arts, the festival includes live music and vendors. I strongly recommend planning your weekend around it. This is an event to build a tradition around, for sure!

Being this early, we got to see works in progress, and I appreciated seeing all the detailed labor that goes into these beautiful, colorful, sadly temporary pieces. A free event, it is worth making the trip downtown. There are food and drink vendors throughout, as well as popular restaurants and bars nearby to pop into if you need a break. This year (2026) is the 35th anniversary of the show and there were 265 participating artists. Going to 265 booths is a marathon, particularly on a hot day, but we were energized by the quality of the work and made it to every single location. Major categories on display included ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, metalwork, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood. Five early-career artists received grants to further their practice and were included in the show. The displays mostly ran down 2nd Avenue in Cherry Creek North from Clayton to Adams with branches going up to 3rd Avenue along Detroit, St. Paul, and Steele (down to 1st Avenue also). We gamely marched the 20 blocks this entailed, alrhough my girlfriend got a little wobbly by the time we made it back to 2nd and Clayton. I parked her in a shady spot and went to retrieve the car and collect her. Despite being tired out by the scope of the show, we were both glad we went. I haven't been to the Taste in quite a while but decided to give it a go on rock and roll music…read moreday. I spent about 5 hours touring the area. The layout makes sense and flows well with the exception of the food area. The music and vendors are placed for optimal traffic and viewing. The porta-potties were off to the side, music in front of courthouse, and the food along Broadway. The music and vendors were great I ended up spending $40 on socks and beef jerky. I listened to a few songs by the Police cover band, a Zeppelin cover band, and REO. I cannot offer a way to improve these aspects of the festival and award them 4-5 stars. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the music even though organizers turned it into musical clique days. Parish the thought of different genres on the same day. The lineups are reminiscent of seating in a middle school cafeteria. The porta-potties get 3 stars mainly due to the lines. While you're waiting in a 15 deep line it's interesting to see who can muster the most appalling grimace as they step out into the fresh air. Academy Awards for sure. The technology has improved over the years with a side urinal to keep the seat somewhat usable. The odor control has improved immensely. Hand sanitizer is available too. They should have a few retro potties from the 90s for comparison giving performers a real reason to grimace. Now, the food, 1 maybe 2 stars at best. This is what crashes the overall rating. This festival is the Taste of Colorado-- it's about food, right? 30 tickets or $20, for a gyro sandwich? Is the meat marinated in Macallan? All the prices are out of wack. How much do these restaurants have to pay to be here? 50% of sales?? Everything is double what it should be. This festival is supposed to be about food! Let's represent. I spent $30 for 45 tickets. The pictures below show the ticket amounts and what I got. You be the judge. The best was the Top Sirloin from Rodizio. (Expert tip: skip the 4 ticket rice enjoy the meat.) Worst: Jaegerschnitzel for 15 tickets. The mushroom sauce was ok but way too salty; bring a sharp knife for the patti. 2 little ramekins of alligator giblets will set you back. $5.33. Jell-O shots have more substance. Street tacos were good. The lines and pedestrian flow in the food area-- ridiculous, the food--meh, the music/vendors and people watching-- much better. Recommendations: double or triple the food vendors by creating an atmosphere where they can make money and showcase and prepare their offerings. Raise the stage 10' and add a couple of big screens by the half-way-satellite-speaker extensions.

While the whole weekend I heard "Taste of Colorado sucks" come out of his mouth a handful of times, I think we were both mildly impressed deciding it doesn't "suck" but is simply A-OK. In terms of getting bang for your buck, this certainly isn't the place to do that. I paid nearly $7 (in tickets) for a shot of nitro cold brew coffee. For my main dish of the day, I got a lamb sandwich from Bistro Colorado which was actually pretty darn delicious and worth it in my opinion. You really had to do a few laps to scout out to find the hidden gems amid the typical fair food. For that reason, maybe Taste of Colorado isn't quite the best name for it. Besides that, we had fun scanning all the stalls with cool arts and crafts, as well as random knick knacks. There is also the carnival area with rides and games which we stayed far away from, as well as three stages with different music happening. On the main stage during the time we were there, Granger Smith was performing who is an up and coming country singer. Pretty cool to see him for free. Would I recommend this to everyone I know? Probably not; however, if you have some time to kill, you can't really beat hanging out in the beautiful Colorado sunshine with free music, funny people watching and some good eats (if you can find them).

Initially, this volume was discouraging, because it didn't seem like I would be able to make a dent in it. However, this feeling soon gave way to the joy of adventure. No matter where I happened to land, I could find plenty of styles that interested me. Strong ales, in particular. The size of the convention floor is immense, so you can only go back and forth, from one end to the other, so many times. It helps to follow some sort of strategy. Early on, I completed a series of small missions. I tasted everything that interested me from the section featuring collaboration beers, followed by the section with medal-winning brews from previous years. Next, the section with international beers. From there, I treated my favorites from the most well-known regional brewers like an aircraft carrier. These included the likes of AleSmith, Dogfish Head, Firestone Walker, Pizza Port, Russian River, and Sierra Nevada. I sampled at random from the rest of the lot. I made sure not to overexert myself during the day, and to get adequate sleep each night. Also, to be well-fed and hydrated before, during, and after each of the three, four-day sessions. The entire convention floor is concrete, so my feet progressively tired from walking on it over the course of three days. This makes it important to wear shoes with optimal cushioning. The Thursday evening session is great, because it's not too crowded. The Friday and Saturday sessions, on the other hand, are dense with people. However, this is easily absorbed by the vast array of tasting stations. For certain breweries, the lines are ridiculous, so I never bothered with those. There is no re-entry after you leave the event. However, the four hours go by fast, and there are plenty of areas with seating to rest from walking. The food selection was nearly devoid of vegan options. I was able to get a vegan noodle and rice bowl from Cupbop, but they didn't have tofu or other plant-based protein to put in it.
