It is great space with one large lap pool and two small pools for toddlers both undercover. The grassed area is mostly covered with those large shade clothes and on a hot weekend, you can't see the grass for the multitude of brightly coloured beach towels. It has adequate toilets and a small cafe counter where you can purchase ice creams and a few other things to eat and drink. It doesn't compare to Burnside Pool in terms of pool options, shade and facilities however the Unley Pool is extremely popular and a great place to meet friends. They were the winner of the 2010 Recreation South Australia Aquatic Facility of the Year award. Best to check their website for opening hours as it changes according to the season. Casual entry for adults is $6 and school age children $f4.80. Children to 2 to 5 are $2.50 and under 1s are free.

You'll need to go 70x to 'break even.' For those of us who go 3 or less times per week, the flexibility of paying each time (adult: $6) is a better option. Although if you do commit to a season pass, the plus side is that you might find yourself to be a little less bistro and a little more Thorpedio by the end of the season... Don't (DON'T) forget the sun gear, easy place to get a horrible burn. Adequate parking and located adjacent to the Goodwood train station. Also only a 5min walk from tram stop #4 (Forestville). Disabled lifter for all pools. They host an annual 24hr relay swim to raise money for MS in Feb, which is worth checking out. On super hot summer days (over 37°) the centre may stay open a little longer, check with staff on the day. Reduced opening hours in May and closed during winter.

So it should not be neglected.. Besides, let the crowds go there..! Hellllo summertime fun! Or if you're doing laps, hellllo summertime hell in a beautiful setting. The turn off sign on Oaklands Road is set amongst grape vines. The whole facility is a green oasis with a massive grassy space around the pools for summertime CHILLIN' shaded by the odd big tree. Facilities: *Olympic-sized pool (50m, 8 lanes) *Two shaded kiddy pools *60m water slide *Free BBQ *Kiosk *Lit for balmy evening swims Costs: Adults: $6.00 Kids: $4.90 Spectator: $2.50 You can also buy a season's pass (adult: $388, breakeven point: 65 visits), a 10-visit pass (adult: $53, save 70cents per go) or a 30-visit pass (adult: $156, save 80cents per go). You've got to be confident you'll live up to the high expectations of use you've set for yourself, or else forget about those tiny savings and hop on the non-commitment train - pay as you go! My only issue with the Marion Swimming Centre is that they're so damn enterprising (i.e. added costs). The waterslide is an additional $4.70 for 10 rides (or $11 for unlimited) and lockers are $4 for 2hrs. Boo. Open start of October until the end of March.

I CAN say, however, that I've been to the Marion Swimming Centre many a time, and, as I've grown and my desires and expectations have undergone the usual metamorphosis, I have always enjoyed my time here. One specific memory I have is of the slide. As a child I was wanting in... courage. For certain activities. There were a lot of things I'd do that other kids would never DREAM of doing, but I always struggled with the average and the mundane. I'm a little reluctant to report that my little sister, to whom I was the senior for several years, was less afraid of taking the water slide than I was. It took a lot of coaxing until I finally took it, where I learned (what I'd already expected) that it wasn't as bad as I feared it would be. Neither, however, was it as good as I was made to believe. The line's never worth it, readers (save for, perhaps, the first time). Whether you have the courage or not, stick to the pools. That's what you came here for, after all.

My partner and I signed up around may-June. With nothing but hassle. The person that signed us up, named Riley (who has since been fired for fraud) told us nothing about signing up to a lock in contract. We only were told once the late payments happened. I went in to settle the account and also gave this Riley boy my details over the counter to then still get charged late fees and my details had gone into thin air. After expressing my frustration they told us there isn't much they can do, the fee is around $300 to get out of the contract and we can freeze our accounts but it's a $5 fee each week for both of us. Mind you we have then got an email saying that from 8/7/25-1/09 we won't be charged anything and payments start again on the 4/09/25. Keep in mind we've been over charged for late fees that wouldn't of been charged if my bank details were taken and done nothing with them, also in the "free of charge period" I was charged $60 in different transactions. I've gone in today with no help. I'm getting asked to repeat parts of the story that don't matter like that I told them I never really wanted to join but got roped in by this Riley person. Irrelevant to the whole situation? I've also somehow since the payments starting again on the 4th of september weve been charged $151.43 which im not sure how any of this adds up. What would you do, I have tried to get in contact with the regional manager whom i had to seek out her details if correct as they refuse to give me the details to pass on the matter.

The best thing about Payneham Pool is that you can almost always get a lane to yourself for lap swimming (as long as you don't go during swim carnivals obviously), I like being able to rock up at my leisure and have a lane of my own. This place has enough room for kids and adults to swim and have a good day without fearing for their lives: this is not so much the case at the big leisure centres that are packed with madness and slides. The staff here are really nice (as you don't dive over the lane ropes, don't do that), and there's heaps of shaded grass areas to hang out in. It's a beautiful day and a nice relaxed vibe, dive on in.

I have had heaps of summer holiday days here with friends where the pool gives out fun equipment like inner tubes, beach balls, volleyball nets and floating mats. It's not too busy usually, and there is plenty of outside grass area with some benches to chill out. But bring the sunscreen because there isn't much shade. Now that the aquatic centre had been improved, as well as Marion swimming centre with watersides and more pools etc, payneham doesn't receive much attention, and it could use some upgrading itself.

The 25 metre lap pools are a good depth and wide enough lanes. The diving pool is fantastic for water running and for a more casual swim. The change rooms are clean and well-looked after. The members only change room is smaller and more private, and each cubicle has a soap dispenser, which is handy if you forget things as much as I do. The spas and saunas are great. There are two large spas, which I would go in more often if they weren't mostly filled with overweight old men or kissing couples. Nothing can keep me out of the sauna though. They have a dry and a wet sauna. I frequent the dry sauna, as it is just the right temperature that you can stay in it for a reasonable time. You're sweating like crazy, but it only becomes uncomfortable after about 10 minutes for me, which is longer than I can normally bear it. How are you liking the sun? It's tough, no? Well, that's okay. Come to Burnside. You'd be hard pressed to find a more beautiful swimming centre. It's outdoors, so you might not be able to get as far away from the sun as you might like. In fact, that's my biggest complaint about the place: there's very little shade. The burns you get from the sun's reflect off the water are just as bad as those you get from direct sun exposure. But so long as you wear a healthy dose of sunscreen, you'll be free to enjoy this pocket of paradise to its fullest. Although, be warned, kiddies: as I left, I witnessed a teenage very obviously urinate in the toddlers pool before he left the centre. However they also offer lap swimming to the public between 7am and 9am and between 11:30am and 2:30pm Monday to Friday. I used to only work a 4 day week so on my day off I would go to a nearby gym then come here for swimming training then stop and get stuff to make a nice salad wrap for lunch when I got home. It was my fitness day. It was always easy swimming here. Simple to park, pay your money and do your thing. Usually I didn't even have to share a lane but if I did have to the others I shared with were always courteous and easy to share with. In the earlier morning sessions it may be a little busier. I found in the middle of the day most of the other people were older people walking or doing exercises in the water for back or kneww issues or for recovery from such issues. If I am going ot put on bathers and swim I like to do it somewhere that I do not feel self conscious and this place has definitely been good to me over the years. If it is a warm day it definitely get really hot and stuffy and steamy inside this pool though as it is a heated indoor pool. Not really a kids play pool at all but great for fitness.
