I was well looked after by the hair washer, who gave me a lovely massage, and the hairstylist was friendly but not too animated (which is a pet hate of mine, I don't need to talk ALL the time). The decor is French and feminine with antique furniture and there was alternative music playing which was a nice change to other salons I've been in. The overall result was good, but not the greatest haircut I've ever had. However, the price is great, so it's a little bit of a trade off.

Sadly I lost the card with the stylists name who I had the best experience with so have been just hoping to get lucky every time since then. I am not sure I would come here for any highlights given my friend's issues in the past, however when we have had issues the salon has resolved them without fuss and with apologies. It had to be a present; this place really is so expensive I will never be able to go back on my own wallet. The look of the place is ultra swanky, all upstairs above the Duke Of York Square with lots of different rooms devoted to all the different niche areas of hair dressing. There seems to be just as many assistants as there are hairdressers and in addition there are people to bring you coffee, food, do your nails and generally smile encouragingly as your style takes shape. I liked the cut and with a colour it was completed in just under 3 hours which seems about average in this city. It's definitely one of the best hairdressing experiences on offer in the capital and I did feel like everything was 'being taken care of'. Without being totally sexiest, I would imagine that women, especially those with a bit of money and time, would really, really, enjoy this one.

Highly recommended. Much better than my previous experience here. Adolfo puts effort on his work but also tries to make the client happy... I have been to RW twice before and the highly ranked stylist was so standoffish and borderline careless that even though the hair result was beautiful, it felt like a favor more than an almost £200 cut.

Sometimes, all I want is a quick and efficient hair cut with little interaction and little time spent over the whole blasted affair. Angelo's offers exactly that. I walked in, told them what I wanted, sat down, and had it done in 20 minutes. There was no talking, because I didn't want any. I was tired and grumpy because I live a busy life, and I was having to take time away from it just to have a haircut, but that was ok, because it was over so quickly! So many upmarket stylists specialise in making your haircut a pleasurable experience, or something to make an afternoon of, drinking wine and chatting in good company. However, If I'm going to take an afternoon to do something, I want it to be more fun than a haircut, no matter how awesome that haircut may be. That said, Angelo's is still fairly average. An average cut at an average price in average space. So it gets an average rating. But for something that I usually consider such a bother, average is fine with me.

A shampoo + cut and finish costs 12.50 pounds, which is okay for the area. One thing to note though is that credit cards are not accepted, which would be very irritating if there wasn't a NatWest less than 5 minutes away. The place is rather small, so I doubt it can fit more than 5 clients. While I'm not sure whether it is really only for men, I've only ever seen men there, so I suppose it is.

It's definitely not the place to go if you are after a hairstyle worthy of appearing on the pages of a fashion magazine, but it always does the trick when it comes to a good value trim. With a man's cut starting at £6, you really can't complain. No need for appointments, you can just hop in, sit down, let them snip away, pay, and hop back out. Every girl who has ever sported a fringe will have noticed how fast hair grows and how annoying it is once it starts stinging your eyes. Mr Topper's is the perfect solution for this recurring problem. A fringe-trim at this salon will only set you back by £3!

This review is for the new Strand branch…read more Clean and funky looking, this salon has an especially nice hair washing area with coloured mood lighting. I was offered the usual drink and magazines, but agree with Michelle T that the junior staff were pretty robotic. I never pay much to have my hair cut, and I consider £50 far too much for a wash and trim, but if you quote 'online 50% off', it's a good deal. I was going to give an 'a-ok' review, but reading Michelle's reminded me that I too got a different haircut to the one I asked for, and that although it worked out well for me, that is not actually a fine way to run a hairdressing business. Because I left with half price snazzy hair I just smiled to myself at the stylist's arrogance, but thinking about it, how dare he make it up as he went along, without consulting me! Also, the receptionist was pretty pushy about trying to make me sign up to a loyalty card, and looked at me as if my refusal (which I had to give 3 times) was weird. I was not impressed that they used my mobile number, given to secure the booking, to subsequently bombard me with marketing texts. So, as long as you are up for a surprise, go here for the 50% off deal. Otherwise, it's just an expensive central London chain, which I suspect is only of any real interest/use to people who work nearby.
