Read the reviews, saw the postings... what can go wrong.... well let me tell you. Service was non-existent... there was only 1 other table in the whole restaurant and service was NON existent!!! Strike one... The food... the onion ring tower was... warm... doughy and seemed to be something frozen that was pre-packaged and someone forgot to read the instructions how to warm up and re-assemble... the kobe style wagyu burger had no taste... way over cooked and the bbq sauce was a little too much... as for the bun itself... kinda stale. The poutine... it appears the "too much" theme continues... the bbq brisket poutine comes with 2 different "gravies" the super vinegary brisket sauce and the brown gravy that had little to no taste... I should have just stuck to the regular fries and called it a day. The shake was proclaimed to be made from real ice cream... which I believe but "really cheap" ice cream to be exact... I should have taken my $50.00 gone to the keg and get a real meal with appetizers. Entree and dessert with change than an over glorified reheated frozen dinner... pass and save your money and aggravation.. piss poor service (non-existent) along with an over rated frozen TV dinner read more

This is not a place for take out. This is a place to sit down and pay too much for a burger. Combos all hover around the $20 mark for burgers and fries. They warn you it'll be a 20-25 minute wait if you order take out. How is this possible? I wouldn't wait 25 minutes for a steak. Also, I've paid less than $20 for a steak dinner with all the fixings and it took 10 minutes to pop out. They're on skip the dishes, but they don't offer their shakes on that app, so if you want one you'll have to drive over and wait 20-25 minutes. 20-25 minutes for a burger? Bit of a wait for our food but totally worth it, great food with lots of variety and awesome service

Food is way below average. Ordered a 3 ring binder that had no sauce on it and one onion ring. No beach house sauce for the 2nd meal that was suppose to have it on, ordered 2 extra beach house dips and niether were given. No Cesar dressing for the Cesar salad. Absolute right off of a meal and total refund is the only acceptable recourse except they won't answer the phone. read more

Been here 3 times. Each time I've waited about an hour for food, regardless of how busy the restaurant is. Food is good, but I'd recommend finding another "Works Burger".. This location seems to have management issues. They even have a promo suggesting you post photos of food on Instagram of Facebook. The Works in Kitchener just opened! It's awesome! (I wasn't so crazy about my ground turkey burger) but apparently the elk and beef burgers tasted amazing! They have lots of different topping combinations, variety of meats (even veggie burgers), selection of buns and sides! The staff there is super friendly and efficient! my wife and I went for our anniversary. empty restaurant, so we assume that service woul be quick. we were very wrong. 35 minutes to get our food. Music was so loud that we could barely have a conversation while we waited. When our food finally came the fries were cold, unsalted and the small burgers were extremely underwhelming (especially for the insane price). The server never came back to ask how the food was, if we wanted more drinks, nothing. Had to ask for the bill, and to remind you... it was empty. We will never return. read more

The Works is predictably delicious and the service is always friendly, but after three visits to this location, I can also say that it's predictably slow. Even when there are tables open, it takes a minimum of ten minutes to be seated. And no guarantee that you'll be served quickly for either taking your order or getting served. Once it took nearly an hour, and it was only for two people. So, yeah, the food is great. But if you're hungry, you might want to consider somewhere else. read more

First time my wife and I tried it. Prices were crazy and when we got our burgers they were both burnt. Won't go back.

Had the kamikaze burger with sweet potato fries and also a 2001 odyssey shake. The patty looked pretty small on the bun and it didn't have veggie toppings although it has a V sign on the menu which supposed to mean veggie toppings (I guess they consider jalapeño and pickled peppers as veggies and this makes me wonder if those burgers w/o the big V are purely meat). The hot sauce was on the side and it was actually spicy. I liked it. The sweet potato fries are mediocre, as for the chipotle sauce I'd rather get it from A&W. The shake was pretty good. I think I will come back to try other burgers like the spicy ones and the sk8ter which has peanut butter on it (this reminds me of my favourite burger in Halifax). As for the service, it was pretty empty when I arrived at the restaurant. But I did wait for a bit to be seated. My food came pretty quick and the waitress checked on me several times. read more

Wow! Got here at 2pm, ordered food at 220pm and waited until 245pm to get our order. There were three other tables now it's 310pm and two tables and we're waiting for our bill and our leftovers. Service is friendly BUT agonizingly and painstakingly super slow! It appears they're so understaffed. Waterloo The Works is SO MUCH BETTER. Food was ok. Onion rings were way over cooked. I got a lunch order item 4oz burger from lunch menu which comes with a side and drink 10.97 as did the husband and an item substituted for a few things. You know service is painstakingly slow when "you" have time to type a full review. 323pm bill comes finally! Really bad. Won't go back. 325 paid bill and finally get to leave. read more

Pretty cool place they do not take reservations. We arrived party of 3 ....we confused the hostesses a little bit and they shipped us at the back of the line while there was plenty of tables available....... but that aside the décor was pretty cool feel like you're in a garage. The service was great , I had the Kamikaze burger was very good and spicy , My 9 y/o had the KD burger and old fashion milkshakes served in a measuring cup and he loved it. My g/f enjoyed a Johnny B good burger which was also excellent . I will go back and recommend. read more

The works is a great restaurant full of awesome burgers and they have great service. They have a variety of burgers. I got a sk8r boy burger which was out of this world. Also, there milkshakes are outstanding also with a bunch of different flavours. Anyways this is a must for everyone out there. read more

After being here multiple times, I feel it's time to write something about The Works. I really enjoyed the Nacho Libre my very first visit. Was impressed with the portion size, and even though it was a little on the expensive side, I thought it was worth every penny. However I've been there many more times, and I don't know, it just seems to have gone downhill. We like to get there right at 5, because it seems to be almost empty then, but even still it takes almost 45 mins for food to arrive, and by then I've either spent more on beer or filled up on pop. Appetizers still come quickly, but unless you can eat alot, it's not worth the expense, as you won't finish the main course haha. I've had many different burgers and by far nacho libre is my fave, the mary jane I had one was burnt. My husband always orders the born to brie wild, and even he said the last time it just didn't seem as good. I'll go back, I do like this restaurant, but I'd like to see some improvement in service time, especially when the restaurant is slow. But the servers are great and friendly and their birthday credit is great if you have a WIP card. read more

Lunch special is a great deal. I find myself coming back to the Works because they serve excellent gourmet burgers. The waiting staff is always really nice. Even during the peak times the waiters and waitresses spend a good amount of time explaining the menu and even assisting your decision on what to order. This is one of my favourite spots in the area to grab a delicious burger. I haven't had anything close to this level of customization and options. Being able to select cook on the patty, type of patty (chicken, beef, veggie, turkey, mushroom, etc.), bun and a huge selection of toppings or a pre designed burger. At the Works the choice is really in your hands. They offer larger refillable drinks which are a huge plus. The combined with the staff make the Works a great dining experience. read more

This is the third time we've been to this location and it has been a great experience. I recommend going at less busy times to get optimal service. Our service was fast and the burgers were hot and juicy. We have been served by the manager every time and he is very nice and attentive to his tables. We love going here for date night and will of course be returning again. read more

Screwed up too many times before and tonight was the last straw... The staff were incompetent from door to departure. I called in my order and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I showed up pretty much 20 minutes later on the nose, and was greeted courteously enough by the hostess. I told her I was there to pick up an order, which the hostess acknowledged, and I asked to pay right away. The hostess retrieved the bill and I paid...all good so far. After 40 minutes from making my order I asked the hostess if it would be much longer. She went to the kitchen and she came back shortly saying that my order was next and it shouldn't be long. Strangely it was at this point I noticed that the kitchen wasn't sending out any food for a period of about 10 minutes. I should point out that this entire time I had been standing at the door, with other customers coming in and passing by...They never offered me a seat or even a drink while I waited this whole time. At 60 minutes I asked again where my order was and what was taking so long. I complained that I had been waiting far longer than expected...the hostess went to check again, shortly followed by a lot of confused people milling around the kitchen area. I knew where this was going... A waitress approached me and told me that they had lost my order and they were working to complete it now. At this point I stated that they had wasted an hour of my Friday night, was not interested in waiting, and to just give me a refund. This should have been the end of it, I would have been annoyed still, but it would have been the end of it...and yet... The waitress said that they didn't have a way to give me a refund at the time as they didn't have a manager on duty. I cut her off and said that this was not my problem, and firmly, but calmly reiterated my demand for a refund. I'm pointing out my calm demenaour because despite this, despite having not raising my voice, nor speaking in an impolite manner the waitress for some reason decided that instead of apologizing or simply leaving to get me the refund, she held her hand up to my face and said "You need to calm down". I was surprised and almost laughed at her tone, but instead and in a more firm manner I informed her that I *was* calm, that I *was not* raising my voice, that I was not waiting any longer and demanded she get me my refund. She again spoke in a patronizing tone, (she seems to be perfectly set for a stellar career in HR) and asked me to please be calm and they would try to sort it out and walked away. She disappeared into the back. It was *another* 10 minutes before I again asked the hostess "Why am I still here, and where is my refund???". The hostess engaged a different waitress who approached me. Aside from the hostess (probably the youngest and most inexperienced of the entire staff, not yet jaded) she was the only one in this crew of incompetents that actually apologized. She said their manager was off sick and they were on a call with the GM to try to figure out how to complete the refund. I pointed out that they take cash, have cash on their persons and they can give me the refund in cash and sort out their technology issues after I've gone...this astoundingly seemed to surprise them. It was at this moment that the future HR waitress came out and perfunctorily gave me the cash, and I left. I came home, ordered Indian from Bombey Bhel on SkiptheDIshes, and it was delivered accurately in less time than it took me to write this review. The Works? No they don't... read more

Amazing service and great meals all around. we went with three mamas and 3 children aged 5yrs and younger. the atmosphere kept them busy, the server made each child feel special and remembered their names. Food arrived in a decent time, and was just what the menu said it would be. We had a great first-time experience! read more
