You have to stumble upon this discount while trying to navigate their website and then only if you mention it to the cashier do they acknowledge it. I was appalled at this, it's hard enough for seniors to survive on fixed incomes with the Liberal carbon tax sucking us dry, but for large companies like Michaels to have this kind of slimy business dealings leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It is bad enough they are replacing staff with do it yourself machines that are hard to navigate, not to mention taking a job away from someone, but they have a "discount" but fail to inform anyone, is this to get corporate tax breaks or attaboys while really not helping anyone? Shame on you Michaels, you have lost this senior and hopefully many more!

I immediately saw Michaels when I pulled in and decided to visit it. I needed purple dye for my Converse sneakers. I was looking at the yarn and latch hook kits when my friend walked in. We both went searching for my purple fabric dye. We finally found it. As with most Michaels stores, it takes me longer to find what I need. She managed to find a decent mini garden rake that was on sale. I also wanted to look at the calligraphy section, but we couldn't find it! The cashier was cheerful and polite. We both paid for our purchase and left. There is plenty of parking in the lot. (166)

Price is a bit higher than the other local yarn stores, so, I didn't buy much from them, unless I couldn't find such yarn in other stores. They have lots of magazine back issues, it's great to check them out. However, they don't have many pattern books, and not very updated too. You can see the store front from the roads if you're looking towards the plaza. The sign is done in a pretty font befitting its name. There's plenty of free parking. The lot is accessible from Steeles. The store looks deceptively small from the outside. It's long, and has a second floor. This specialty shop has just about anything you may require for all your sewing and thread craft needs. Not only will you find supplies, you will be able to avail yourself of the knowledge the owner and staff can share. In fact, they teach their own classes here. When we came in looking for a new pair of scissors, we enjoyed browsing the books, patterns, and accessories as well. We did find that it's a little more expensive for some things than going to the Fabricland up Weston Road, but we enjoyed the better atmosphere and the satisfaction of supporting a local business. If you don't want the sterile shopping experience of a chain like Fabricland, this place is for you. The inspiration and knowledge you will come away with from here instead make it worth repeat returns.
