We made the mistake of going here to look for a bridal gown for my daughter. I knew that we were in trouble when the salesperson was dressed in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. The salesperson, Jada, didn't know their inventory at all and didn't read the questionaire that my daughter had filled out prior to the appointment about what she wanted. We ended up pulling dresses ourselves for her to try on. Don't waste your time here, go to another bridal salon with consultants who know what they're doing!!!! read more

Came for my wedding dress and found my dream dress! The ladies that help me were very helpful and listened to what I wanted in a dress. I came in with an open mind with just a couple things I did not want. They made me feel beautiful and everything a bride should feel while getting their dress. We went in November and they told me my dress wouldn't be ready for pick up till end of March beginning of April. I came here with my mom and future mom in law to look for dresses for them for my wedding. The store has 4 floors- the basement are bridesmaid/mother of the bride/ homecoming/plus size dresses, second floor is work wear, third floor is prom and beach wear and 4th floor is bridal. They have a pretty good selection of everything, but I was honestly shocked about how expensive the work wear clothes were. Very pricey. The dress selection wasn't anything over the top exciting and what i didn't like was that if they don't have your size in a certain dress, they can't (or won't?) order it for you. So basically you have to choose from what they have in the store only. My mom found a dress she loved, but it wasn't her size. We tried to google the dress to order it somewhere else and we couldn't find it anywhere! Also, the salespeople in the mother of the bride section weren't very helpful at all. I was grabbing dresses for my moms and checking on them more than the sales lady was. Overall, I wouldn't return here to look for dresses. (We drove over an hour to check this place out). But I still gave it three stars because if you live out that way, you should check it out. I have been to the winner several times. It has usually been a pleasant experience. But today I went to try on bridal gowns. I started working with one consultant and she was exactly what I wanted. She made me feel beautiful and was so excited but than came Mary. She was so rude. She honestly seemed like I was a burden to her. I asked her questions and she ignored me. Not only was she was not helpful after I got home and took a closer look at the pictures of me in the dresses I saw her in the background and she had the most disgusted look on her face while looking at me. It made me want to cry. I felt so humiliated. I will never go back. read more

Went homecoming dress shopping with my daughter and was not at all impressed with my experience here. The store is completely unorganized, the dresses are overpriced and many had defects (loose sequins & beads, torn or frayed material). Not sure how they can justify charging $250 to over $400 for dresses in this condition. I was able to find most of the dresses my daughter liked online for a much lower, reasonable price. Also, be aware of their policy of not selling a dress to you if someone from the school already purchased the dress. Many upset girls leaving the store without a dress because of it. read more

Nope nope nope. One will get better selection on workwear dresses and special event dresses at a department store at a mall. My mom wanted to come here to look for the dress that she'll wear to my September wedding. There was nothing that was beautiful and in her style. When my 65 year old momma who wears a version of the same t-shirt and shorts everyday thinks the dresses in stock are frumpy, ya know that they are extra frumpy. My parents came here a year ago to find a dress to wear to my cousin's wedding, and they found one here. Because my parents are corny old people (I say this in the most loving way possible!), they thought all the staged old-timey cars in the store were cute and that the "man cave" stocked with couches and free beer was a neat idea. So that's why my mom really wanted to come here again. So many of the prom-style dresses and most of the wedding dresses are kept in plastic garment bags on the racks, which makes it incredibly difficult to see what is in them. Also, it was strange that they don't carry the major brand of under $300 evening wear, Adrianna Papell. I was hoping that they'd have like every dress of that brand (as all department stores carry a few) but The Winner had zero! Did I mention the hella old elevator that had a sign posted on the wall for the cell phone number to call if the elevator gets stuck? Lordy, get me out of there! OK, let me say something nice. We received friendly service. I saw a sign that said that they register which school prom dress buyers attend and don't sell a second dress of that style and color to another prom dress buyer from the same school: a very smart policy! And there were actually two dresses in their non-garment bagged "destination wedding" (aka non poofy) dress section that I might have tried on had I not already found my wedding dress. read more

There's not a whole lot to say, I just didn't have a good experience here. The Winner carries lots of dresses, but the store is unorganized with merchandise everywhere. The dresses are not hung up and stored properly, so many of the ones I liked were damaged, torn, missing stones, etc. The Winner really doesn't have good options in the way of affordable dresses, so if you're looking for something on a budget, look elsewhere. Website advertises 15% military discount with ZERO mention of exclusions. False advertising! When we presented our military ID yesterday we were told they wouldn't honor it because the wedding dress was already marked down. $500 sale...we bought the dress even without the military discount because the bride loved the dress. But without that ADVERTISED military discount.... there's a whole lot more dresses that will be purchased ELSEWHERE. Flower girl, maids of honor, mothers of the bride etc. NOPE, not from The Winner. I could not be more thrilled with my experience at The Winner! After multiple disappointing wedding dress try-ons in New York, I decided to try something different and ventured down to Sharon, PA. Service here was outstanding. Mona devoted her full attention to my needs, making me feel like a princess. She also had a good eye for what I wanted in a dress and helped me select at least a dozen gowns to try on. In the end, I ended up finding the dress of my dreams. Since it was a floor model, they worked with me on the price AND I got to take it home with me that day. No nail-biting while I wait for it to come in! At the end of the day, i found a beautiful dress that was within my budget, saved money on sales tax, and received fantastic service. I have shopped at the winner many times for homecoming and prom dresses. I haven't had any complaints in these departments. My sister is getting married so we decided to come here to look for a wedding dress. We came twice. The first time, she didn't have an appointment so we had to wait about 20-30 mins for an associate to be available (granted), although there were multiple associates helping one single customer which we thought was unnecessary, but whatever. So, she found a dress she really liked and wanted to try it on again so we came back, this time with an appointment. We had the same associate, Barbara. This time, since we had an appointment, we figured my sister would be the center of attention. We were wrong. After picking a few dresses out for my sister, Barbara went back up to the front with another customer! So I decided to help my sister get into the gown she wanted to try. Barbara was not having this. She came in the room with both of us in it and took the dress from me. I stayed in the room because i didn't want to open the door again when my sister was not clothed. Barbara stepped out of the room again and when she came back into the room, opened the door and hit me with it! Now she acted like it was an accident but there is a mirror in the room so I was completely visible, and I hadn't moved since the first time she was in the room. So you can decide if this was an accident or not, but even if my sister wants this dress, we will be buying it elsewhere. read more

I went to look at wedding dresses in February and they had a very wide variety of styles! Renee was amazing and made me feel very comfortable when trying them on!... I ended up finding a dress after the 7th one I tried on. She told me that dresses were taking 3-6 months to come in ... so, she told me to wait till I received her call the next day if my dress would be in in time. She did call me the next day and told me the exact date my dress would be in .... and it came in on that date. If you are shopping for a wedding gown. The winner is not the place to go if you are sticking to a budget. The greeter was wonderful and very friendly. However once you passed the door the workers changed. I got to the 3rd floor and no one even acknowledged me for 5 mins( they were not busy). Then Mary finally starts to help. Initially she was nice and excited. As soon as we tell her my budget which is 600-700 before alterations. She was rude and not interested in helping me find a dress for my special day. Also, they wouldnt bring my sister a chair and she had to sit on the floor for most of the appointment. Very disappointed in the winner, I have bought all of my homecoming and prom dresses there and they have lost a long time customer. read more

I came in by myself looking for my wedding dress. I was confused and unsure of what I wanted. Barb met me, got to know me and my wedding choices thus far and reassured me that she'd help me every step of the way. She loved seeing pictures and hearing about my vision - she studied design in college, too, which helped! I haven't remembered any other consultant's name by the end of the appointment, but I remembered Barb and specifically came to see her to buy my dress 2 months later. Worst store I've ever been to. We walked in and immediately flashed back to 1975. The whole building was outdated and the merchandise was definitely geared towards older women not weddings and younger women. Also, I was very surprised at how expensive the store was. The Winner. "The World's Largest Off-Price fashion Store" Yeah...those prices are definitely off! And so is the buildings condition, the dresses, and most of all the rude sales associates! I went into the winner to look at dresses with my best friend for my wedding. The rude atmosphere started the second I walked in the door. The old lady at the door took one look at us and said "Are you sure this is where you want to shop? I'm not sure it's in your price range." Then continued to make rude comments about wearing jeans in "such a high class place" and proceeded to ridicule my best friend for her tattoo. That mean old bitty has no room to talk about us wearing jeans when that's all anyone in their 20s wears anymore and as for tattoos it's not her say what others do to their bodies. Finally we get to the wedding dress floor....a chick my older sister went to school with before my sister left for the army looked at me and scoffed and started gossiping about my sister in a low tone as if I couldn't hear her that building is so old you can hear it creak when the wind blows. The elevator is totally unsafe it creaks and shakes a lot and it smells terrible And An older sales woman named Barbara looked at us and said "are you 'just looking' or are you actually going to buy something?" "Actually gonna buy something?" Seriously? What are we not "high class"enough to shop in this dump? After I had told her I intended to purchase a dress for a wedding she looked at me confused and says I need to be engaged to be looking not to be here "playing around and day dreaming." Kind of rude she pretty much told me I was faking being engaged because she judged by my appearance. After I told her I am engaged and showed her he ring she rolled her eyes at my ring as if my ring wasn't good enough in her opinion. By the time I FINALLY get to the dresses she tells me to check the "cheaper" dresses in the corner. They were all tackey and gross. The dresses looked like they were from the 1980s and she's raving about how they're "this season" and I'm thinking to myself "what season?! Geez with a hair do like the one she has on her head she must still think it's the 80s!" I eventually go to the middle of the sales floor to get a dress and she tells me "bigger sizes are at the far end so you know" I go and look and she was pointing to size 26wide.....IM A 14. Apparently a size 14 is a damn whale to these people!! I finally get a few dresses to try on and she kept putting them back saying "you won't fit these" and kept bringing me the TOTAL OPPOSITE of what I asked for! She kept bringing me ivory instead of white and strapless when I need straps and ones with tackey designs and feathers and ruffles ....I was disgusted with her attitude....or so I thought then came time for the dressing room. She told my best friend to go away and "she can handle me on her own" like seriously? I would like my best friends opinion not just yours" She kept forcing me into dresses that were way too big and kept making rude comments about the few small stretch marks I have on my hips asking me if I had a kid in high school. No.....those are from being as tall as I am and a size 14 as well... But thanks for assuming I was a sleepy teenager and slept around. Finally found a dress I liked and there was a huge green stain on the front next to the sparkles and she said it doesn't even look noticeable and then she kept talking me out of the dress saying she didn't think I looked good in it and to try other stuff. After about an hour of her pressuring me I left. As I left disgruntled the girl who was gossiping when I first arrived told me "plus sizes are downstairs" and smirked at me while the whole time I was looking at dresses she was pointing and laughing at me. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! Those people are rude and self centered. They judge people based on looks the second you walk in the door and if you don't purchase because their selection sucks they automatically assume it's because you're poor. What they fail to realize was I fell in love with a 1200$ dress that I was going to buy CASH UP FRONT but hey pissed me off! Too bad they lost a sale. And the prices are absolutely ridiculous!! Stopped at the Winner tonight to look at a bridal gown. They close at 9 and I showed up around 7:30 in the evening. I didn't have an appointment since their website says no appointments necessary Mondays to Fridays. Mary immediately walked up to help me to assist me. She showed me the racks that would best fit my dress size and asked for some suggestions on what I liked or didn't like. I chose a few dresses and she chose a few. She was spot on with her dress selections. I loved them all. She let me try on as many dresses as I wanted. She let me put a dress on hold for a week to decide if it was actually the one or not while I try on dresses at one other place. I realized when I was walking out the front door that it was 8:55. She didn't rush me at all to leave since it was getting close to closing time. Definitely recommend for bridal gowns. read more

I love the Winner. My sister and I make a trip every year if not two trips. We are never disappointed. She comes from Annapolis and then we drive up from Pittsburgh. We both come from large shopping areas and always find special unique items. My sister attends many formal affairs in the DC area and has never seen any of the many dresses she has purchased anywhere else. As for saying the store is disorganized amazes me. Everything has its special area. You have to allow yourself lots of time or you may miss some fantastic finds. The staff goes beyond being helpful. We are going back in September to capture the fall and winter line and again find great bargains. read more

I give this place 'zero" stars but I couldn't post with out giving at least one star I drove 1hour and 30min, paid $400 for a dress that once I got home notice beading missing and tears/rips on the inside of the lining..I bought the dress 5pm Saturday and called about the issues on Sunday at 11am. Spoke to the10Amanda and she stated alot of girls try these dresses on we can not/do not guarantee the condition of the dresses.. I said are you kidding me this is absurd, the dress was just purchased and it's damaged and she said well I'll give you $30 back on the dress, what is $30 going to do on a $400 dress. she said well I'll give you 10% back and I said none of this is acceptable, I am going to come back and return this dress. She said she would not accept a return. I told her I will contact the better business bureau and dispute the charge on my credit card. They do have a great selection of dresses with multiple floors, but the practices is terrible, their customer service is terrible. the first issue was they will only hold 'one' dress, while you look at other dresses. we asked them to hold the dress and came back after looking at dressed on the next floor and lo and behold they didn't even have the dress they put it back on a rack and we had to go and search for the dress. Mind you we never even left the building....second issue: We found a dress on floor one, and a dress on floor two. I daughter wanted to try them both on to see which dress she wanted and was told we could not take one dress from one floor to the next floor. what the hell. She said take a pic with your cell phone and compare what they look like. I should have know then not to buy anything from this store. Just be sure of the dress when you buy it, bring a flash light so you can fully examine the dress before purchasing, the building is old and out dated and the lighting is terrible, you can't really see what is going on with the dress/es...... I will give it 4**** on dress selection but zero on customer service and on the condition of the dresses, there were a number of dress we just put back because they were torn and such read more

I was invited to go to The Winner by my friend whose mother SWORE by it. After the 2 hour drive, we arrived to a tacky, VERY overpriced prom gown store with a terrible environment. All of the sales clerks were very rude to me and the dressing rooms were hot, small, and cluttered. I finally found a dress that I absolutely fell in love with that included a reasonable price tag of $310. While trying on the dress, I noticed that it was missing two hooks in the back, was very long, and had many lose/missing gems. When I took it to the counter to check out, I explained my problem. The cashier didn't look me in the eyes and was very rude in saying "Well all I can do is give you $20 off but I'm adding a "luxury tax."' This "luxury tax" brought my dress up to $360 AFTER the $20 discount. When I asked what the luxury tax meant, I was refused an explanation and was deprived of eye contact from the clerk. I knew this was a red flag but I was so in love with the dress that I purchased it anyway. To fix all of its problems, I took it to a seamstress who charged me $50 and made the dress nearly perfect, or so I thought. On my prom night I realized that the dress's material was not holding the new hooks very well and as I was dancing, the dress ripped open in the back, completely tearing the hooks off of the back, and I'm a size two, so my size was not the issue. I later discovered that MANY of the gems and sequins on the dress fell or were falling off and that it had picked up any tiny amount of dirt and showed up with a huge stain. Of course, The Winner has an absolutely no return policy so I had to go home in tears half way through my prom night because my dress was ruined. I will NEVER EVER visit this place again or recommend it to anyone, it is in NO WAY worth all of the hype. Oh and P.S., I later found out that all of my friends who also went to The Winner were never charged a Luxury Tax and had no clue what I was talking about. read more
