Tip: Return your empty beer cans and bottles to get your deposit refunded…read more I was at Brooklin Town Centre on Saturday. I spotted this The Beer Store. I haven't had any craft beer for a while. I decided to check out the assortment at this store. I parked fairly close to the entrance. I walked in. It was a hot, humid day. It was one reason why I felt like going into this store. The air-conditioning was highly effective. There were may cases of beer. I wasn't feeling like getting a 24-pack. I like getting craft beer in single cans, to sample them. That section was closer to the exit, before you pay for your items. It was nice seeing Belgian Moon and Stella Artois. I like them a lot. There was a decent selection of local craft beers. Trying to figure out what I wanted was tough. I eventually settled on getting these beers: - Junction hazy IPA - Muskoka Brewery hazed and confused juicy IPA The two men before and after me had a case of beer. Yep, it's definitely the long weekend. The female staffer scanned my items. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. She wished me a great day. I reciprocated and carried my cans to my car. They went into an insulated bag with a chocolate bar. I'm so glad that they were chilled, as they prevented my chocolate bar from melting. I had the Muskoka Brewery hazed and confused beer at home, after I put it into my fridge for it to chill. I enjoyed it. It was juicy, with pineapple, grapefruit, orange peel, and mango flavours. It had a slight bitterness in finish, but was enjoyable. I haven't had the other can yet. The long weekend is still young. I had a terrific experience here. I'd return when I need beer and I'm in the area. (333)

Tip: Collect Aeroplan points here…read more My rating is four stars for selection. It's the female cashier that rubbed me the wrong way - literally with her gloved hands. Yesterday, I was at Baywood Centre grabbing a takeout order for dinner at Quesada. Next door was this LCBO. I frankly don't visit LCBO often. Considering that the Minnesota Wild made it to the second round of the playoffs this year, which the team hasn't done in eleven years, I felt like getting some alcoholic beverage for game 1 of the second round. I put my food in my car. I then entered this store. I noticed that you could collect Aeroplan points here. I last set foot in an LCBO when it had a partnership with Air Miles. Yes, it has been that long ago. I had to find my QR code on my Air Canada app on my phone. I eventually got there and was happy. The wine section greeted me, with cases of seltzer and vodka water also getting into the act. I saw these clear skull bottles by the checkout. It had Crystal Head vodka in them, which looked cool. I ended up in the seltzer and vodka soda area. I like Cottage Spring drinks because they don't have any sugar and I like the flavours. I saw raspberry vodka soda, which was new to me. I got a bottle. It had a twist-off top that was also new. There were two other flavours and I ended up getting a bottle each. One was lime with yuzu. The other was peach. I lined up at the checkout. This store had steady business. I liked the cooler bags that were in front of me. I couldn't find the price, though. I got a female cashier. I said hi to her. She did not respond. I had my Aeroplan QR code in front of her. She didn't scan it. I was putting down my first vodka cooler bottle. It wasn't even touching the counter and she took it from me, making contact with my hand with her glove that had grooves on it. I did not like that contact and how it felt. I did the same thing with the second bottle. Same outcome. I hadn't even placed it on the counter and her gloved hand touched my ungloved hand. For the third bottle, I put it down on the counter closer to me, and retracted my hand. I didn't ask for a creepy, bumpy touch interaction with this woman. I don't know if this action of hers is second nature or deliberate. Either way, I didn't ask for it and it was such a negative, uncomfortable experience. She finally scanned my Aeroplan QR code. Thankfully, she didn't touch my phone. She asked me if I wanted a paper bag. I asked her if it was free. It was. I said sure. I paid with a credit card. I tapped. Done! I wished her a nice day despite the touchy-gross treatment. She said nothing. Why do I bother being nice to such an unpleasant staffer who likes to initiate physical contact with her gloved hand when it is highly unnecessary? The selection of booze is wonderful here. Sadly, this woman put a damper on my experience here. (181)

Tip: Collect PC Optimum points when you buy something at this convenience store…read more I needed to redeem a digital voucher that was about to expire. I had just returned to Pickering GO station and needed a Circle K. I know the area fairly well in the sense that I know that there are two Circle K stores in close proximity: - This store around the corner from the train station on Liverpool Road that's a part of an Esso gas station and is next door to the mall. - The store further north on Liverpool Road, just past Kingston Road that's in a plaza with a McDonald's. I typically go to the latter one. It's a standalone store with Polar Pop machines and more. I decided to visit this Circle K with the gas station for the first time. I had no problem finding a parking spot steps away from the entrance. I backed into the spot and headed inside the store. I liked the drink selection here. It also had chicharron, so I had to get a bag. My voucher was for a Hershey's bar between 43 and 48 grams. What it didn't explicitly state was that the Hershey's bar needed to be the Pokemon version. I grabbed the non-Pokemon version. I got to the counter. The man was helpful to troubleshoot with me. This voucher was such a pain, but he knew what to do and I could finally get my Hershey's cookies and cream bar for free. I had my PC Optimum bar code scanned. I then paid for my bag of chicharron. Done! I thanked this man and left with my goodies. The Hershey's cookies and cream bar was delicious. It's also gone. I have yet to open my bag of chicharron to enjoy. I hope to this weekend. I am glad that I have visited both Circle K stores within a block from each other. (375)
