Masala spiced scotch-egg with ‘dahl’relish. The eggs are quail eggs. Beautiful and delicious. MUST try!

The Wigmore is in the same building as the Langham London, a luxurious 5 star hotel. AMBIENCE: The atmosphere of the Wigmore is upscale almost like that of the Langham. I'm sure you'll see many people dressed up, but you do not have to dress up to fit in. On a weekday night, there seem to be lots of people drinking and enjoy their company after work. Very lively and energetic. PRICES: The prices are very reasonable. For example, my favorite snack here "Masala spiced scotch-eggs" is £6.25. All the main dishs cost less than £15 (as of writing this review; see http://the-wigmore.co.uk/#/food-drinks/food/ for their food menu and current pricing) SERVICE: The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped us choose drinks and snacks. If you are looking for a fancy place to drink and/or have a meal (without breaking your bank account), I highly recommend the Wigmore.

Ham and parsley pie and mash

A few weeks back, I got the opportunity to try out the Wigmore, an opulent British Tavern, sitting off Regent's Street. Honestly, the interior is absolutely beautiful with alluring painting leather upholstery and emerald green interior, this is one elegant tavern, that screams of British authenticity. I am still doing dry January, so I opted for a Blackberry and Raspberry tavern lemonade. The lemonade was so sweet and bursting with flavour as the blackberry really shines through and gives off a dark candied taste. My guest opted for the ginger tavern lemonade but described this lemonade as having a more bitter taste afterwards. He later switched to the blackberry and rosemary after. For starters, we shared the masala-spiced Scotch egg with dahl relish. The presentation of the Scotch egg alone makes you not want to disturb its craftsmanship, as the Scotch egg is so artistic. However, once bitten inside the centre is soft and dewy with the egg being well seasoned and is slightly poached. Due to its Indian origin, the dahl relish sat well with the masala spices and made the scotch egg slightly spicy but still enjoyable to eat. This is a must-have from the menu! Salmon is one of my favourite fishes, so I was bound to choose the smoked salmon with crème Fraiche and rye bread. I forgot to ask them to take off the crème Fraiche before serving, as I cannot eat crème, so overall it was not my favourite. I did enjoy the bread, although it was rye, it was still moist and savoury. The salmon needed a bit more flavour. Lastly, we ordered thick fat chips, with bloody Mary salt, which sounds like a strange combination but you can actually taste the bloody Mary. For my main, I had the duck leg with braised lentils. The duck leg shell was crispy on the outside but soft and broke easily once cut into. I loved how moist and full of flavour the inside of the duck leg is and tastes better once dipped in the braised lentil sauce. The braised lentil sauce also had pieces of finely chopped pork inside which soon became overwhelming. This dish brought back childhood memories of primary school dinners. However, this main is very filling, and I would recommend no starters when having this main. My guest chose the ham and parsley pie with champ mash but decided to remove the mustard from his main. I managed to get a taste and this is a must-have dish! The pie is crusty on the outside but the inside of the pie is succulent, mixed with pieces of ham and parsley sauce. The mash compliments the pie as the taste is creamy and sweet. Overall, the food at the Wigmore speaks for itself, as the dishes are British inspired and very rich in flavour. Definitely, a restaurant to try out if you want to taste authentic British food! Price: ££ What to wear: Smart (I wore a faux fur jacket, t-shirt, leather pants and heels) Ambience: I went during the afternoon, so there were meeting and businessmen around.

However, being that it is part of The Langham after all, I would say prices are not unexpected.

Remarkable, he scored and I literally walked around the corner and saw the long line to get into the pub first. I was seated immediately, however, and proceeded to enjoy a traditional Sunday Roast. Room was very pleasant (there are so many I got lost returning to my table from a bio brake. Roast was very good ( but no Lawry's) and the sides excellent. Could not decide if my favorite was the roast potatoes (crispy outside soft inside) or the glazed carrots. Yorkshire pudding was good but again, I am to used to the Lawry's and this is a different style. Peas were, well, peas, but very fresh. The sticky toffee cake was excellent and the Guinness fresh, creamy and a proper pour. Good thing because the selection of winners by the glass and half bottles of wine were both a little thin. Overall wine list was good but I was alone and not up for drinking a full bottle by myself. Overall, very enjoyable and to judge by the crowd and difficulty in getting a reservation, one of the more popular in town.

The history alone makes it worth visiting, and the location is perfect if you're exploring the area. It feels very classic London in the best way. We stopped in for a pint and honestly... the whole after-work beer culture over there is something I really need to bring back with me to the States. The beer was great, the atmosphere was lively without feeling overwhelming, and it just felt like one of those places where people naturally gather and stay awhile. Definitely worth stopping into if you're in the area.

Two story space - the ground floor feature the bar and handles walk in lunch; the upstairs is a dining room for those with reservations. Fun fact, as part of the history, the pub used to be the host of bare knuckle fights and had regulars like Charles Dickens. Wildfarmed sourdough - served with whipped salted butter and Guinness butter. Well toasted bread and the butters with salt were well made. Fuller's London Pride marinated steak and ale pie - served with seasonal veggies and red wine gravy, as well as either mash potatoes or triple cooked chips. If there is one dish London does really well, it's their pies. It was beautifully made and loaded with steak. The red wine gravy was decadent and added a perfect amount of moisture to the pie. Triple cooked chips were perfectly crispy but fluffy on the inside. Corn fed chicken breast - served with garlic and sage butter, mash potato, cavolo nero, and crispy onions. Only took a bite of this as it was my partner's dish but the bite of chicken I had was very juicy and well seasoned.
