I like to think of The WiFi Lounge as a "third-wave internet cafe." You know those "cool" coffee shops hipsters go to where you can smell the African roasted coffee beans in their slow drip coffee grinders in the air, and where everyone talks about their spirits and the inconsequential-ness of the our lives? Well, in The WiFi Lounge, I can literally smell the WiFi in the air. Seryoso, no bullshit. You can feel how fast the internet is from the minute you walk in and you realize that everyone on their computers is clicking and opening 20 tabs at the same time. It's basically like if you take the "traditional" concept of a computer shop, turn it around on its head and put it in a sosyal cardigan and Converse sneakers.
Needless to say, I love this place. I seriously fucking love this place. As a student, internet, particularly fast internet is a necessity. And living in a dorm never guarantees fast internet. Places like WiFi lounge can be a serious lifesaver. For just 20 pesos an hour (seriously, 20 pesos is chip change), bring your phone/laptop/tablet/PDA or whatever else WiFi compatible device you have and enjoy your web pages loading in a split second. The speed goes at 1mb/s, or sometimes even faster if wala masyadong tao. It has the added bonus of having a good assortment of random services like coffee, halo-halo (which is pretty good) and printing.
I have long maintained that WiFi lounge is probably the best place to make a research paper (especially a crammed one) in Taft. Not only can it handle your furious opening of 100 references at the same time, it can also handle your Spotify playing in the background and downloading your Steam games. And even better, a few of the times I went there, a few people were playing DoTA VERY smoothly. From the same WiFi. It's that solid. read more
