Behind the greenhouse, we had a delightful time listening to our instructors who clearly have worked side by side at the farm. Educational facts about herbs with a sprinkling of humor began the event. It is so wonderful to attend a class where they share their knowledge about the herbs and their uses. They give you salient advice that helps you decide on which herbs fit the taste profile you enjoy so you build your herb pot on what fits you. Then to top it all off they gave us a handout that covered trimming, drying and pairing herbs as well as a few recipes! A wonderful experience! Thank you for making my Mother's day extra special!

LV Home & Garden Center Maybe you remember seeing "Cheers",…read morethe place where everyone knows your name. Well that came to mind for me this Thursday, when I stopped by the Lehigh Valley Home & Garden Center. My wife and I have been doing business there for over 20 years, it's always our 1st stop for gardening supplies, plants and flowers. As with most non-professionals, most of our purchases have been Spring to Early summer. During those timeframes, the staff has always been overly helpful and friendly. They listened to us carefuly, suggested products that would sute us best, even special ordered some from their Nursery for us when we were looking for something special. This past week I stopped by to get a replacemnt hanging basket and I was sure they would have a few when no one else had any. I was greeted with a warm welcome and a bit of humor. When I mentioned to one of the staff what I was looking for she immediately said "Oh! you always get the _____ in ____ for your hanging baskets - she was spot on and pointed a few out and as my hands were full with our new puppy "Tiffany", who the staff seemed to like more than me (kidding), she carried my collection to my car. This may not mean a lot to most, but it showed me once again the level of customer supposrt and kindness that has always been present to my wife and myself by the staff and management of the Lehigh Valley Home and Garden Center - they get a 5 out of 5 from these very happy clients. In spite of the fact that she said I'd get a 50% discount, it still would have been overpriced. I had hoped to get some advice as to what colors and varieties would work in my planters. I am not good at this and always appreciate help. I have eight large planters to fill along with some flowers to plant in ground. When I approached a woman holding a hose, outside one of the greenhouse, I asked if she could assist me. She said "no,I must get these plants watered or they will die". I was some what shocked! I almost replied..."that's okay, I'll shop elsewhere", but I didn't as I did not want to be as rude as she had been. This was so unlike Mysters. maybe she was having a bad day...we all do, but you don't treat old customers, or new for that matter, like this! It was around 10:45 when we arrive and they were only open a short time. If you advertise your schedule as "open at 10", your flowers should be ready to go...not on the verge of dying due to lack of water. We walked the greenhouses and when we left, the hose was laying on the ground as the woman was no where to be found. Guess the flowers were no that dry. Very disappointed in Mysters. I have to give some thought if I will return.

I hope I am writing about the correct place. The one I am referring to is if you are heading north…read moreon 512, turn right onto 248. The place is about two miles down the road on the lefthand side. This is a true diamond in the rough. It's not much to look at and the hours are limited, but if you have a hardscaping project be sure to come here. This place carries a large selection of pavers, concrete statuary, concrete planters and stones. They primarily carry overages from another location (where that is no idea), some items are seconds. What this means is two things: 1. If you see something you like buy it right there as it is unlikely you will see it again. and most importantly 2. The stuff is ridiculously cheap. We have been all over the Lehigh Valley looking for stepping stone pavers for a project. The cheapest ones we were able to find were $4-5 a piece. This place had pavers nearly twice the size that were only $2. Smaller pavers are $1 - a complete steal. My parents did a similar project last year and said the same exact pavers they bought for $1 were $5 at a big box store. The cheapest items are inside the inside fence, but everything is priced reasonably and it is unlikely that you will find anything that will break the bank unless it's absolutely huge. Note: I don't believe they take credit so bring cash! The woman who mans the place is quite a character and hangs out in an army type bunker on the property.
