The phrase "life changing" gets thrown around so often that it loses the weight of its meaning, but…read moreJo Ellen's counseling has not only changed my life in a very noticeable way, but has also given me a new way of thinking. A little over a year ago I had given up on life completely. The end of my long term relationship with my fiancé, legal troubles, bankruptcy, ongoing PTSD from decade old events, panic attacks, substance use dependence, the list went on and on. I had become completely unrecognizable. I could not see a way out anymore and living this way was too excruciating. After a long hospital stay, many of my close family members confided to me that they had to mentally prepare to say goodbye if I didn't do something to change. Jo Ellen was able to help me to see my life and my patterns of thinking clearer than I ever had before. She has a way of bringing things to your awareness that, after you understand them, you won't believe how long you lived without realizing them. I was in such a desperate place for years, and I threw everything I could at finding help. 8 different counselors, numerous psychiatrists, antidepressants, anti-anxiety medication, every single inpatient and outpatient program offered in my town and hundreds of self help books. I credit her with teaching me the tools to get my life back on the right track when literally nothing else could. She is unbelievably well spoken, genuinely cares about her clients, and so easy to be honest and open with. She never misses a single detail and knows how to gently guide your focus back to the issue at hand. She has also reached out by text when I've been going through a particularly hard time to offer support, which was very touching and something no other counselor has done. (I also want to add that I'm not a mother, but my own mom attended a session with me and said it gave her so much peace of mind and clarity as a mother of someone with substance use issues, and even just one session very much helped our relationship.) I truly cannot recommend Jo Ellen highly enough, and am so thankful for the way she has impacted my life.

She got me off the medications and into a place of happiness and no anxiety. She has changed my life in so many ways and am so grateful to her. In the last year I was also dealing with a health issue the doctors were unable to diagnose and yet again Jennifer has helped me through all her wonderful ways to get through yet another block in my life. I am happy healthy and continue to see her to keep me on that path. I drove about an hour and a half to see her and when I was unable to a phone session was offered to me and that helped as well. I was battling some major issues with my body, my negative self talk was through the roof, my relationship with my family was not doing well, I was still holding a lot of emotional pain in my body from events in my past and I was dealing with some addiction issues as well. Jennifer helped me to turn my life around. She doesn't only help you while you're in session, but she helps you take care of yourself on your own. Her goal is to help people, but to eventually make them strong enough to self-care. I still continue to see her and she is truly one of the most incredible people I've ever met. She has such a unique and wonderful gift in the healing arts- ridding people of their physical and emotional toxins. The greatest thing about her is that she wants to teach you how to take care of yourself eventually. She's helped me tremendously at raising my baseline of well-being and reading myself better, catching things as they come up so they don't affect me as much. It's hard to describe all the different facets of her practice. I feel like she's helped me in ALL aspects of my life. Food, body image issues, relationships across the board, getting over painful events from the past, how I think and feel about the present and the future. She's an amazing healer and a heavenly human being.

Initially I was a bit wary at the prospect of even starting therapy, but when I finally decided to take the plunge I was treated with a prompt and informative email; from the very beginning, she was responsive and attentive to my needs. She recommended an over the phone consult and paired it with a questionnaire for me to fill out in order to get a sense of who I was/am as a person. Those two small gestures allowed me to feel comfortable, and gave me a solid sense of who I was going to be spending 1:1 time with for my sessions. Since the first interactions going forward it has been a rewarding experience. I've gained definitely gained perspective and insights from my time spent with her- she's challenged me, provided me with out of session tasks, recommended supplemental readings, as well as offering ideas of personal projects to further my insights into what I want and how that's possible. She has been non-judgmental, is a great listener, provides great counsel and is incredibly kind. Would recommend her to anyone willing to better themselves!

Serious Breach of Professional Ethics - Chris Massman, LMFT…read moreI am documenting a major concern regarding professional boundaries and ethical standards with Chris Massman dating back to the 2013 era. During treatment, it was discovered that Chris Massman maintained a pre-existing, undisclosed close personal friendship with the client's family members while concurrently acting as the primary clinician. In the state of California, this is a severe violation of professional ethics regarding 'Dual Relationships.' Failing to disclose such a conflict of interest is a breach of informed consent and patient trust. It appeared that private clinical information was shared with those personal ties rather than serving the patient's therapeutic interests. I strongly advise anyone seeking an objective, ethical therapist who respects confidentiality and autonomy to look for a provider other than Chris Massman who adheres to higher professional standards.
