I was looking for a specific piece of furniture they did not have but the interaction I had with an employee was friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to return when in the market for something else! Buyer beware!!! I would make them take down the chandelier so you can get a good look at it pre purchase. We purchased it then they took it down and they carried it to our car. Taking it out of the car days later we discovered the chandelier had gone through renovation. Bad patchwork. The policy "NO RETURNS ON LIGHTING" seems a little dishonest when they don't disclose it was broken when you bought it. I've been shopping here for many years. I've always been impressed with the fine furnishings, decor, gift items etc. I've probably spent thousands of dollars over the years...but I'll never spend another dime there in the future. Yesterday I brought a vase to have an arrangement made in it. I was told to step over to the floral department and I'd be helped. The lady barked at me to come over to the counter and she would talk to me while she made a bow. Okay. I explained that I wanted an arrangement made in the large vase but I didn't want the stems of the flowers to be seen so possibly a moss or filler of some sort could be put in the vase to obscure the stems. My mother was a florist and I've learned a few things over the years and knew it could be done. She rolled her eyes at my comments when asking me what I wanted in design, colors etc. I was put on guard immediately but decided to keep trying to get the job done. Long story short she took 2 sprigs of berries on branches, put 6 small hydrangeas around it, tied a wire around it and stuck it in the vase. I thought we were trying to get a basic design for the arrangement. I mentioned again I didn't like the stems showing and thought I would be leaving the vase there for her to complete, embellish etc. She seemed aggravated that I insisted on the stems not showing and walked away from me and grabbed a vine of some sort, wrapped it around the stems and threw it back in the vase. Again I thought she's just making sure I'm okay with the look. She decided it needed a 3rd stem of the berries, stuck it in the vase outside of the wired mess she had done and she pushed the vase at me and told me I could take it up front to pay for it! I honestly don't know why I didn't lose it right there on the spot. I think I was just so astonished at how I was treated I didn't have words. I paid $101 dollars for this holy mess and went home. It was absolutely disgusting and I finally found my voice and got right back in my car and returned it. She was standing at the counter when I walked in and when I stated how unhappy I was she never showed any remorse. Just barked at the sales clerk to give me my money back and walked away. Never an apology. I asked to speak with the owner and was told that was her! I've never thought the customer service was great there. Horrible return policy...48 hours!! Rudeness from some of the long time employees. And if you go upstairs they follow you like you are a thief. Yesterday I witnessed the owner put down an employee on her ability to measure something right in front of the customer. The employee was visibly shaking and nervous. I felt terrible for her. It's a pricey store, however I appreciate quality, unique and stylish decor. But there are plenty other places to shop and I will turn my attention and my money to other stores that appreciate their customers in the future. You should too. read more

Love the home decor and furniture here although they are a bit pricey. My biggest issue however is whenever I visit the second floor of the store, without fail, an associate immediately follows me up. It's clear they've been trained to do this as it happens EVERY time. I imagine it's to deter shoplifting, because they always just walk around pretending to check on things and fluff pillows and never to ask if I need help. If shoplifting is an issue, install a camera or have an associate stationed at all times on the second floor. It is so uncomfortable feeling as though you are being watched and I've known numerous people to comment on the same. I don't know how many thousands of dollars I need to spend there before I'm "trusted" or even be recognized as a repeat customer. read more

I have always enjoyed shopping and looking around in this store. Ever since they were in Winghaven off of I-40 in O'Fallon, MO many years ago. I have bought many beautiful unique gifts and home decor. Gifts for family & friends there over the years. My husband recently had one of their tall beautiful lanterns custom/personally filled for me as a birthday gift by the co-owner. Gorgeous! Unfortunately today was a TERRIBLE experience & makes all past experiences mean NOTHING! My mom went in today to buy something for me, that I had seen over the weekend while we were shopping there. While she was there, she FaceTime me to make sure this was exactly what I wanted. The owner, out of know where just walked up to my mom. Didn't ask, can I help you? Excuse me? Hello! NOTHING! Just looked at my mom & said to her to take that item off the sofa (which my mom had gotten this item off a shelf) & sat it on the corner of a sofa to show it to me on FaceTime. The owners words to my mom "take that off my couch, I don't want that to dirty up my couch". Of course my mom was stunned & said "oh Sorry, I am talking to my daughter & trying to show this to her to make sure this was exactly what she was wanting". My mom was very upset & hung up with me. She tried to find the owner again to let her know, if she knew her items in her store were THAT dirty, then she for sure knows that her daughter will NOT want that sitting on her furniture!!! But of course she couldn't find her...she left the area as fast as she came! She was probably watching/hiding again & watching on her cameras. Thankfully my mom said ALL the staff was very pleasant & friendly, made her checking out somewhat pleasant. Now, I'm trying to decide do I keep this $80 "dirty" decor or return it?!? I must decide fast...I only have 48 hours to decide (their return policy). Very upset & disappointed...unfortunately the saying is true. Negative spreads faster than positive feed. Luckily there are many other places in the St. Louis & surrounding area that have beautiful & unique home decor we can choose to shop from. It's great to have choices. I give it a 2 stars for the outstanding staff that work under the management, they made my mom smile as she walked out of the store. read more

They do furniture, home decor. and lots of design options. I have seen jewelry and scarves here and those stocking stuffers you have been looking for in that "I know it when I'll see it" kind of way. My mom and I have very different decorating tastes and we've both found things we loved here. They have classes here for my kind of people and those creepy Christmas elves that some people like my mom love. Elves frighten me a bit but I keep coming back because the stuff here is that good. This place has pretty things.. very expensive but pretty. However it has no customer service. I bought a sign 1 week 3 days ago. I had surgery and then today I tried to return it because it didnt fit the spot I bought it for. Turns out they have a 2 day return policy. 2 days...are you kidding me? So if you are looking to buy someone a gift for an upcoming occasion.. DON'T... they will not be able to return it. This is ridiculous. They dont even offer an exchange. I won't be buying anything here again. Overpriced and no customer service. read more

Nice stuff but buyer beware: 1. Make sure you REALLY want it and it FITS your spot (measure twice - or more) before purchasing because they have the MOST LIMITED RETURN POLICY - EVER!! And they ARE NOT flexible whatever the circumstances. Oh, and NO returns in furniture - I hope you're great at visualizing before purchase. 2. They are overpriced but frequently offer discounts - but beware, the discount is typically for a single item- that means ONE. So, if you buy several small items, you only get ONE of them at 20% off. You'll have to make several trips over multiple days if you really want to save $'s. 3. If you see a floral design in the store and it's discounted - but need a another/ matching arrangement it is a "custom" order so NO discount on the matching one!! 4. Don't go in expecting a helpful friendly staff - not that some aren't, but most are not. I don't really care - i typically shop with a purpose and don't need help- but my friends always point out owner's/staff aren't friendly and/or overly helpful. Bottom line- When browsing on your own you will likely find this place nicely decorated with lots of home furnishing options. Staff may or may not be helpful and be confident it works in your space before walking out the door with it!! read more

When I need a unique piece for my home my first stop was always The White Hare. I walked in last week to check out the new location and ended up spending almost $600. That day was the last day I will ever spend a dime at this store. A shelf I bought ended up not working for my space and I went to return it. Well, before you go make sure you're educated on their 2 DAY RETURN POLICY! I try to shop local as much as possible, and understand policy. While I think a 2 day return policy is absolutely ridiculous, the way the owner talked (or not talked to me) was the icing on the cake. She stood there shaking her head at me as if she was understanding me while she wasn't listening at all. For a small business she clearly does not value her customers. I can't support a business like this. It just means more online shopping and less money supporting our local economy. I believe in top down leadership, and if the owner is treating customers like this what story does that tell her employees? Never again! read more

Purchased a hostess gift for friends for Thanksgiving 2 weeks ago that I asked to ship 11/18. Called Monday to make sure they were shipped. They told me they didn't know and would have someone call me back. No call back. I called them back on Wednesday. They said that the lady that does the shipping was out with the flu for 2 weeks. They said they should get it Friday. It is Saturday and the host and hostess still do not have the gift. I will never shop there again. read more

This used to be my favorite place to shop---I've been shopping here since they opened in Winghaven Ofallon and followed them to their new location. I will not be shopping here any longer however. My daughter and I went one day in November and she found a pretty bracelet for her mother in law for Christmas. A young girl waited on us---she was obviously new as she kept having to leave to ask questions which was fine. She sold us the bracelet and said she could order us a dottie that said "grandma" that would be there in 2-3 days---definitely in time for Christmas. Then she asked if we would like to purchase a silver box to put the bracelet in---it was really pretty and I told my daughter it would make for a good presentation for the bracelet when given to her MIL. She bought it--it was only $6 so no big deal. Well, time went by and no call about the dottie coming in until the week before Christmas when they left a message saying they wondered if she had received their previous message about the item being in....she hadn't and she couldn't locate their number anywhere in her log of phone calls so was a bit confused by that but it was all good. Before going to the store to pick up the Dottie she put the bracelet in the silver box and low and behold the bracelet doesn't fit into the box. Once in the store she told them she was there to pick up her order and they said it had just come in the day before and was still in the back room (so why would they make her feel like she missed their call?). They located the item and while checking out she told them the bracelet did not fit into the box they sold her for it and she would like to return it. Nope....they have a 2 day return policy and it was way past 2 days. When she told them the girl had sold it to her as a box to hold her bracelet they told her that she must have been a new employee because that was incorrect and the box was only meant to hold the Dotties. My daughter told them that that was not how it was sold to her and they said there was nothing they could do about that. I WAS THERE WHEN THE GIRL SOLD IT TO HER---THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT SHE SAID!! This box was a $6 item and they would not take it back because of their ridiculous 2 day return policy. I have spent thousands of dollars here in furniture, rugs, and decorative pieces but I will never step foot into that store again. What horrible customer service and over a lousy $6. Too many other places to shop and quite frankly.....they are overpriced. Good bye White Hare. read more

The have the worst customer service when it comes a return policy. I bought holiday ribbon and wanted to EXCHANGE the ribbon for different design. The receipt says SPECIFICALLY "xmas final sale dec 9". They will not honor this. I wanted to exchange on the 8th. They said there are signs everywhere that say the 5th. When I pointed out the receipt says the 9th, she said, " I do not know, I don't make the receipts." By the way, there are signs everywhere by the cash register; there are so many you don't know where to look. Most importantly, no one ever stated verbally this "new date" of the 5th when I was checking out. How is a customer supossed to know that you have to look at the signs and NOT the receipt. I would never go bakc here again. If you are slightly hesitant, they will change the return policy on you. Plus, they were over-priced; I found almost all of the same Christmas items for less in West County boutiques. read more
