Lovely cotton dresses, tops and shirts, drapy cardigans, each no more than £25. This is the sort of shop that has quick turnover of stock so you don't feel you're buying the top that everyone else is buying at the moment, which can happen with some of the bigger high street shops. Perching on the corner of Cabot Circus, Apricot feels like the shabbier cousin or younger sister of the big, expensive shops in the new development.

On walking into the shop I was not amazed by the service, that is not to say I was disappointed, the shop assistants were amicable and provided a decent service but nothing extraordinary. However, the products and the feel of the store were a very pleasant surprise. The clothes are on trend but different enough to distinguish Apricot from Primark or Topshop. Lots of pretty prints and well placed frills, and the dress that my girlfriend 'just had to buy'; 'just off white with fantastic black piping shoulder details!' Apparently (I have no idea what that means). I was immediately struck by the prices- for the quality there are very cheap - I am definitely heading back as there are many bargains to be had.

My favourite part of the shop is, inevitably, their sales rail which is full of hidden gems at up to 50% off - which is a blessing, as the prices would be out of my budget otherwise.

You access it by walking down the stairs from the front door into a small shop area. There's pretty cool music playing and a small selection of clothes which isn't too confusing to navigate. Check out the little suitcase of vintage items right by the stairs, definitely a few cool finds in there, all for £10, and above that there are some awesome trainers. If you're looking for a designer tee, they print their own, for RRP of £25 but you can find sale ones for as little a tenner. It's a very low-fi shop; they don't even have a till, but appreciate any custom they get and are really grateful and friendly.

Terrible move removing the tills and replacing with self check outs…read more The queue was so long for the till that was open as you can not take returns to self check out. the one staff member on the tills who served me was super miserable . ( low staff moral I'm guessing). Then to find the exit entrance at the back of the store has now closed permanently due to store theft.. idea... put a security guard on the exit entrance. this is extremely concerning from a health and safety perspective as a emergency exit, everyone running for the stairs in a fire of a building of that size is dangerous. do better primark!

I've tried to shop more ethically, honest I have. But something about this store keeps driving me back. I thought I was cured when all Bristol had to offer was the worst of the worst Primark's, with their poor selection and disorganised layout. But then they opened a super-store sized outlet and I just couldn't resist. I'm not saying it's the best one I've been to, and I've been to MANY, but I've never come out empty handed. My favourite thing about the brand new shiny Primark is their range of accessories which take up almost a third of the ground floor. Their underwear department is a bit lacking, but their sparkly dresses and cheap hosiery more than make up for it. The queues are still long, and you need a patient of a saint to trawl through the rails, but compared to most Primark stores this one is well managed and easy to navigate.

But I thought it was worth mentioning how much they all loved it. They have a great range of light summery dresses made with beautiful fabrics and patterns. My knowledge of dresses is somewhat limited by they had a huge collection of different styles and lengths. They also had amazing price tags attached, with some reading £10! I actually did wish they had such a great range of men's clothes, but alas we only had a choice of 'comedy' T-shirts that were not almost as classy or elegant as the woman's choices. I honestly believe any woman who had a look at some of the clothes at Newflower would find something they would really love, especially for the summer. They had a beautiful range of mini skirts...I thought about how they would look on me, but I think my bits might be visible, only slightly though. The fashion seems to range from 1930s up to the 1970s and beyond. They also had a good selection of flip flops and sandals.

I described the cut I was looking for, and lucky for me they had lots of things cut that way. After trying on a lot of tops, dresses and coats, I ended up with the most amazing coat, made in Germany of all cotton. It is quite fashionable and also functional. It was expensive, but worth every penny. I also got wonderful feeling black leggings, a gorgeous dress from France, some very cool reading glasses and stylish and functional fingerless gloves with leather palms. They also have a home furnishing section, as well as a restaurant which I understand has delicious food. What a find !!!!!! This place is retail therapy at its best for someone who wants clothing with panache, somewhat avant grade, and somewhat bohemian. It might be my favorite all time clothing store!

Welcome to the Clifton fashion boutique Maze…read more I visited here during the January sales hoping to find a bargain, more specifically I had tried a dress on in the French Connection in town which I really liked but needed a size 8. My heart did a little jump when I found that they did indeed have a size 8! But it fell right down to my feet when I saw they had it priced more more than double the FC sale price! I asked the shop assistant if perhaps it hadn't been marked down again yet but she informed me in a kind of 'how-many-more-times-do-I-have-to-go-through-this' kind of way that although they stocked FC lines, they do not have to mirror their prices. I was quite disappointed! Generally speaking, the ladies things are very nice but very expensive. But then, that's Clifton; in the changing room I overheard someone trying a dress on for her upcoming trip down the red carpet at the BRITS or BAFTAS or something like that! I think the men's section might be a bit better though.

Jigsaw - another shop I can rarely afford to even step into. And most importantly they have well positioned lights so you can actually see what you are holding (those who have visited the new Hollister at Cabot will understand this point).

The store is usually quite quiet; you can step away from the bustle of the street into a calm environment. The clothes here are really well made and certainly pricey (a mere scarf costs between £30 and £40), but definitely worth the investment. I particularly favour the accessories range, I dream of being able to afford the shoes, but for now I'll just treat myself occaisionally to the odd pair of luxury tights.

I couldn't help but feel a little in awe wandering round this shop, they have thought of just about everything from furniture, to decoration, lighting of every kind even garden accessories. As well as quite extravagant things they do have a good selection of affordable bits and pieces ideal from presents or to brighten up your room, like picture frames, fairy lights, and statement cushions! Not everything in here is to my taste, I think you will either love or hate some pieces but it's definitely work popping in on your way past.

According to some blurb, Sense "...offers a smart mix of design-led products with a contemporary edge...". Apparently, the owners' frequent trips to Holland have given them a new perspective on design. They wanted to attack all the senses and create a complete home environment, everything from comfortable leather seating, exciting lighting and soft furnishings to unusual gifts. Pay a visit yourself, check it out, but take heed of the sensory warnings - highly recommended.
