First just want folks to know that the white apron is located at one Washington Street at the One Washington Building in Dover, Suit 2024. They cater any affair that you are planning- birthdays, anniversarys, baby showers, weddings-yes, buisness outings, breakfasts, lunches, dinner parties, holiday parties, etc and they do it with flair! They are EXCELLENT!! I have never seen a caterer take such great pride in their presentation of food. They are meticulous with what gets served to the guests. The staff does everything they need to ensure that the guest happiness and satisfaction is met. They do a great job with putting a twist on the classics and making you want more. They have a unique presentation, giving you a one of a kind experience- not the typical ho-hum event one may have become accustomed to from other caterers in the area. The chefs on staff are immensely talented, educated, and have years of experience working from areas across the county: Sundance, the Cape, Montreal, and NYC (working with bands such as U2). The servers now on staff are also quite experienced and very personable. I have had several wonderful interactions with servers, chefs, the staff manager as well as the owner- Jay Crucio. I would recommend them to anyone who wishes to have an event planned and stress-free. Thrilled that we picked White Apron for our wedding- they did a wonderful job and everyone is still raving about the food. We're big foodies and love cooking so our expectations were high but White Apron still exceeded them. White Apron worked with us for our welcome dinner and wedding celebration the following day and executed both perfectly. Friday night some guests arrived late and the White Apron were able to bring out the extra food for them. The bartenders were excellent and enthusiastic about our collection of speciality whiskeys that we can picked for the event. Victoria was SO amazing with all the planning, I can't count how many e-mails and calls we exchanged. She was always so prompt and helpful. White Apron was extremely accommodating to very specific dietary needs for my husband's family and some additional guests. One guest who is celiac said they never ate so well at any formal event- they were able to make modifications and the food was held to the same standard as the rest of the guests. We appreciated their help in menu selection process, their attention to detail and the kindness of all of their staff. I am a restauranteur, and most of our wedding guests work in the catering and hospitality industry, so we are very observant and a tough crowd to please. Jay, Liz, and The White Apron Team blew us away. They were professional, organized, efficient, accommodating, competent, and the food was terrific. They set up and broke down our hired items without me even noticing and packed leftovers away for us to take home (they were all eaten later that evening). It is hard to create and serve hot restaurant quality food to a large group with varying timelines, such as weddings, but The White Apron achieved it for us. All of our guests commented on the excellent service and on how much they enjoyed their dinner. Highly, highly recommend. read more

I have attended three business events and one baby shower all catered by The White Apron and have been really impressed every time. The food is the epitome of fresh and simple with a twist. You would think a simple spread of cheese, meat, fruit and veggies would be pedestrian, but they manage to find clever ways to create new, unexpected flavors with familiar ingredients. The quality of the food is top notch and the preparation and presentation are also great. The owner, Jay, is very friendly and obviously takes a lot of pride in his work and food. I've never hired them myself, but if I had an event I needed catered, the White Apron would be my first phone call. read more

Amazing food! We got a Reuben wrap and some kind of fancy turkey wrap and they were FAB! The chef even let us try his lobster ravioli that were the best I have EVER had! I love this place for lunch. I have been meaning to write this review for awhile. We hired The White Apron to cater a medium size cocktail party in our home (about 35 people) in August 2013.. Staff came about an hour in advance for setup and did a good job. The owner, Jay, made us feel that we were in good hands and even ironed a table cloth himself that we needed last minute. The food & service were good. The big problem was the bar. We had decided to have full bar and bought the alcohol but had White Apron handle the mixers & glassware for an additional cost. Although we had all the alcohol the bartender could not make simple drinks like a margarita as he had no lime juice. He also couldn't make any cocktails with simple syrup (and there are many) as he didn't have that either He did not take it upon himself to mix it up on the stove just declined requests for any drinks that he didn't have the mixers etc. He even told me he couldn't make my favorite, lemondrop, because he had no simple syrup or even sour mix! I ended up making it myself with granulated sugar from the kitchen. Unfortunately, I couldn't even have it in a martini glass as they didn't rent any. When I questioned the bartender about the lack of adequate supplies or basic martini glasses he just said he didn't know why these supplies were not provided. The next day I spoke with my contact, Elizabeth, who was very dismissive of the problem. She said that she had "investigated" the issue & that the bartender claims that he offered to squeeze limes to make a margarita & to make simple syrup for my drink. This was a blatant lie but she refused to consider that. She offered no explanation of why the essential supplies where not provided in the first place. She also said they never rent martini glasses & didn't seem to think that was a problem. Really?! For a full bar?! Half the fun of a martini is the glass. In any even, I would not recommend using them for the bar just do it yourself. I had attended a major fund raiser in Portsmouth earlier last summer that they catered and it was a similar situation. They ran out of wine very early in the night followed by beer. It was a mess. People standing around unable to get a drink. After a while they would come with more only to run out again in a very short time. It was an embarrassment to the charity. Based on this experience I should have know better than to hire them to do the bar but I figured as long as I provided the alcohol that wouldn't be an issue. They clearly do not know what they are doing in that area. If the bar hadn't been such a fiasco or Elizabeth hadn't been so dismissive I would have given them 4 or 4 1/2 stars but it was a "cocktail" party and it really mattered. read more

The White Apron catered my fiancé and my engagement party over Fourth of July weekend and were absolutely incredible. The food and drinks were beautifully presented and delicious. I am a vegetarian and was blown away by the freshly-made lemonade with blueberries and mint, the phyllo flowers with brie, pear and almonds, the twice baked potatoes, and the flatbread pizza with roasted seasonal vegetables and fresh mozzarella. My fiancé particularly loved the almond crusted chicken with roasted poblano chili sauce. The service was phenomenal--friendly, professional and 100% on the ball. The White Apron was a big part of the event's success. They are the best and I cannot recommend them highly enough! read more

Event Date - 9/13/14 The White Apron catered our wedding, it was a fairly loose affair, which was a surprise to the guests, they thought they were coming for a Harvest Social. I had worked with Jay and Liz for months and my fiance and I had met with Chef Ben who would be the chef onsite for our wedding and were thrilled with the quality of food and our menu choices. Although it was a looser affair, it was still our wedding. Imagine my surprise when I get back to my home where our wedding was taking place after having my hair done to find nameless faces from the catering company. I was shocked, and quite emotional over it. I couldn't even tell you to this day the names of the staff that did my wedding. I was actually fairly hurt, as was my husband. Where was Roland, where was Ben? We were told that Ben was no longer with the company and that Roland had to do another event. That told me that my wedding was not important enough to The White Apron. I can assure you, this is not what a bride wants to experience 1.5 hours before her wedding. The staff was nice enough, and their service was good, but I really feel that Jay or Liz should have reached out previous to our special day to let us know there would not be the staff that we were expecting. I will say that the food was good and we received many positive comments on the quality and taste. However, the initial issue seemed to linger throughout the day for me. I did call The White Apron the week after our wedding and spoke with Zoe, she gave me very little solace or apology, and I don't believe she forwarded the information to Jay or Liz as I believe I would have heard from one of them. Just really unfortunate experience on my wedding day. Due to the food being delicious, I would use them again, with clear parameters on the logistics as Jay and Liz do offer a great menu and seem to be lovely people. read more

The White Apron catered our wedding in Portsmouth, NH. We wanted to make sure that we could provide excellent food for our guests, so we considered many options and attended several tastings. We found that The White Apron is head and shoulders above their competitors in terms of the quality and presentation of the food and the professionalism of their staff. We knew that The White Apron was our first choice, but we had concerns about cost. We considered just going to a cheaper alternative, but I am so glad that we decided to talk with Liz first. She worked hard to find creative ways to keep us on budget while still delivering a meal that we and our guests found to be truly outstanding. They truly take pride in their work. I traveled for a wedding to New Hampshire that was catered by The White Apron. To say that the food was delicious is an understatement. The weekend's festivities started on Friday night, July 4th, at the café at the Strawberry Banke Museum in Portsmouth, NH, with a traditional New England clambake, albeit with an elegant flair. The menu consisted of potatoes, corn and cole slaw, with the cole slaw including fresh beets. A bonus salad was a caprese salad made with yellow and red tomatoes and creamy burrata mozzarella. For protein, they served steamers and lobster naturally and roasted chicken for the non-seafood lovers. The steamers were cooked to perfection and were not tough. The lobster was meaty and not overcooked. Knowing that everyone would be dressed nicely for the evening and that some of the guests would not know how to properly crack a lobster, The White Apron's server cracked open each guest's lobster so that the guest could remove the lobster meat without spraying water all over himself or herself. (Even though they had planned for that as well and placed a folded bib together with each guest's place setting). Dessert included a layered strawberry and blueberry shortcake and chocolate truffles that literally melted in your mouth. Hurricane Arthur was no match for the welcome dinner. The festivities continued the next day at the wedding that was also catered by The White Apron. The wedding was at Rye Beach, NH. The White Apron again did not disappoint - especially considering that there was no kitchen to keep the food warm, etc. The highlights of the menu (to me!) that day consisted of shrimp and freshly-shucked oysters, roasted pig, twice-baked small potatoes, and a taco station with fresh guacamole. Again, the bar was fully stocked and cocktails were served right until the end of the party. The service provided by The White Apron staff was excellent. They quickly refilled drinks, cleared dishes and brought over food when anyone had a special request. A part of me is disappointed that since I don't live in New England, I will not be able to hire The White Apron to cater my next event! read more

The White Apron were booked to cater for our wedding in August. Due to the Hurricane we had to postpone as our ceremony was going to be on the beach. We had paid The White Apron a deposit but we were able to postpone prior to them purchasing food and materials for the event. The owner Jay Curcio promised that we could use the money towards another event, I have the emails confirming. Over several months we have tried to arrange to meet with Mr. Curcio to arrange however he never returns calls, has failed to arrive at a pre arranged meeting at our home and even dodged my wife in the street when she has seen him by chance. Unfortunately Mr. Curcio has proved himself to be very unreliable. I am in no doubt that their food is very good but their business practice is highly unprofessional. The White Apron is holding money that has been paid in good faith but they have not provided any service in return and have made themselves unavailable to arrange any catering. We have obviously asked for the money to be returned but as we have come to expect from Mr. Curcio he has not provided any answer and has made himself unavailable. In my own business experience company's that are prepared to compromise their reputation in this way suggests that they have a sensitive financial position, which is clearly worrying for anybody who pays money in advance of any service been offered. I suggest that before booking The White Apron significant research is undertaken. read more
