They serve very good pub grub at lunchtimes and evenings, as well as a good range of real ales and the usual wines and spirits. Serving times can be a little eclectic, so ring ahead if you're relying on them for your evening meal. Recommended. Expect to see the odd priest and church party from the neighbouring Shrine.

The building has its origins in the 16th century and according to local repute, William Tyndale (he of Bible translation fame) lived there for a while. The pub is a nice comfortable village pub with excellent beer and food from bar snacks to a full restaurant menu. It also offers bed and breakfast and Brisley is centrally located in Norfolk making it an ideal base from which to explore the county.

The ingredients are local, the menu is seasonal and the daily specials are well considered, fresh and all-round delightful. Though I don't drink, I understand the gin (and tonic) selection to be incredible. Whilst definitely not the cheapest place to eat locally, it is more than reasonable with the fresh, local ingredients and the skill obviously put into making them. Most recently I visited and between three of us sampled (read: devoured) some cod cheek tempura, scallops with an avocado purée, sesame tempura prawns, fish & chips and a double-serving of seafood chowder. These were mainly daily specials and so I had requested earlier in the day that they didn't run out of chowder for me. It honestly is the best thing ever. Saying that - as much as I adore chowder - the cod cheeks are amongst the best dishes I have ever tasted. The food is seasoned perfectly. When I arrived I was astounded to find one of the loveliest restaurants I've ever been to in the UK that is also super dog friendly. I was very impressed that there was a menu for dogs within the main restaurant menu. The staff were very friendly helpful and professional. I had the chicken pie with mashed and gravy. It was delicious. I can highly recommend this restaurant, and I will most definitely visit it again when I return to the UK
