My husband was reeling from a bad experience at a different Chiropractor and was considering just…read morethrowing in the towel on his pinched nerve when I insisted he try a different Chiropractor. I had been told good things about Empowered Health and recommended he give it a try. The Dr. Vang at Empowered Health provided a considerably better experience for him. She considered several different things that might be an issue for him and insisted on taking some measurements and reviewing his case before trying anything. After reviewing all of his data, she determined that the issue was likely in his shoulder instead of his neck and focused more on pressure and working his shoulder instead of just cracking neck and back (the experience at the other Chiropractor). She did not do any neck or back adjustments until after several visits, and then just minor adjustments, focusing more on deep pressure in certain areas of the shoulder, arm and back. He always felt better after her visits and is doing much better now. Unless things have changed she doesn't bill insurance directly, but will help you with the info you need to get reimbursed.

Dr. "Kay" is gentle and caring. He always makes each visit comfortable and explains everything well. He is very calm. He also makes sure you are well numbed before procedures and adjusts accordingly throughout. The dental hygienist we usually have is delightful, gentle and very knowledgeable about everything. They explain things in a nonjudgmental manner. The front office staff (scheduling and billing) are kind, caring and very helpful. My daughter's front tooth broke in half. Dr. Kay was able to repair it by artistically creating the other half and matching it identically, making it look natural. The quality was so good it has lasted several years so far and still looks great. The office also plays KTIS in the background for an uplifting mood.

But they do have a nice variety of educational classes, which I will be taking advantage of. The people are really nice, too. What I have used is the Childbirth Collective, which is a non-profit that operates in the same space and offers free lectures on various pregnancy/birth topics, and brings together many members of the natural childbirth community. The lectures are hit or miss, some I thought were awesome, and some just ok, but the good ones were WELL worth it, and the networking opportunities to meet other parents and care providers is fantastic. The only thing I really wish they'd update is the seating. The couches are pretty uncomfortable, and many people have to sit on the floor on pillows, since there isn't enough seating. But other than that, the space is beautiful, clean, very nice. Recommend checking them out if you're in the area. Update: I took the Infant CPR class at Enlightened Mama, and while they did get the information across, I wish I'd done it somewhere else. They were disorganized, and spent the last 30 min discussing "natural" remedies for common childhood illnesses, some of which were goofy, and others which frankly, were dangerous in my opinion. If you are the "crunchy mama" type, you might be into it, but if you are looking for a medical-type class, this is not it. Still giving it 4 stars, but only because of the Childbirth Collective. I'll be taking my other classes elsewhere.
