This is the course where it all started for me and my disc golf addiction has only just begun to heat up! Apart from the disc golf course and practice baskets, there are also plenty of pretty trails for hiking and biking, as well as a basque monument and the Reno Sports Complex, complete with 4 gated softball fields and central snack bar - fields and snack bar only open during games. Lastly, if you live on the north side of town and/or have seen that giant white "N" on the side of the hill - well, the trailhead for that hike starts here!

I think they dId a great job of blending the course into the natural landscape. Carson Ridge has a total of 27 holes. The Pony Express course is a nice beginners nine hole course. The Stadium course is a beautiful 18 hole course. There is also a nice little practice area. Overall I think the Carson Ridge disc course is a great addition to the outdoor activities, open spaces and natural parks in the Carson City area!

My bias aside though, Im a firm believer there are few parks in the country that are as good as this one. To start, its HUGE! I don't think I've really ever seen the whole thing. There are rolling fields of grass, an "arboretum" which is like taking a walk in the mountains, a lake, playgrounds, a museum, gardens, a dog park, and idk what else. It's so beautiful wherever you go, and you can easily sink a day into exploring here.

The course is about 3 miles once you've finished all 18 holes and it's a stunning hike on the course. Holes 9-12 (if I remember correctly) have the most incredible lake views! This course is well marked, nicely landscaped and sculpted but definitely provides a challenge for beginners. I skipped a couple of the hilly more mountainous holes to save time since we were loosing daylight and I'm not very good but i didn't feel like I missed out on anything since I was still hiking along as we powered through the course. I would love for this to be a home course because it's stunning and was awesome to explore! Definitely on the keeper list of to-do's once in Tahoe.

There is plenty of space to sled, build snowmen, and just enjoy the beautiful snowy scenery. The river flowing by is very beautiful especially covered in snow. The park is well maintained, with clean bathrooms conveniently located nearby, which is always a plus when you're out with kids. If you have a dog, it's a great place for a walk, too. It was very snow covered so I was able to just go into the tennis courts and let my dog run around off leash. There are poop bags free of charge available so please use them when out and about with your dog. Parking was plentiful, so there's no stress about finding a spot. Whether you're here for some winter activities or just a stroll, Truckee River Regional Park has something for everyone.

There is not a playground. There is not a basketball court or tennis court. There is almost no shade at this park. What a great park with views to die for!…read more This was nowhere close to being on our radar, but thanks to Truckee Meadows Trails, we attended a group hike up here. This is part of Washoe County Parks. It is North of Reno and is easy to access off Sun Valley Boulevard. It is best known as a disc golf course and the day we were there there was a large group participating in a tournament. The trails meander around the hillsides with plenty of opportunities to overlook the spectacular views south towards Reno and east towards Sun Valley. Most of the trails are easy to moderate and are all dirt. Dogs are allowed on a leash. The trails are also open to bikes. This is not ADA accessible. There is parking at the trailhead and bathrooms are available. There is not a lot of shade on the trails and there are few signs other than for the disc golf. Definitely a spot worth exploring. The park is open from 8am-5pm daily.
