She has even repurposed a couple of my dresses into more practical skirts. Matter-of-fact, I need to make another appointment with her as I've two very long dresses that were for formal wear and I now wish to have them shortened so I can wear them for casual events. By the way I am petite and am under 5 ft. tall so finding something to fit me off the rack is almost impossible, and the last dress I bought was a size 0 I also had a very old skirt that I adored but it was starting to fade and show its age. Kathleen used the old skirt as a pattern and created a new one out of similar fabric. The new skirt has become one of my favorites. Kathleen is very pleasant to do business with, she is attentive and listens to what I want. I have and will continue to recommend her to my friends and family. I also found her prices very reasonable. (After reading the bad reviews I find myself perplexed as she was always very courteous and friendly when I dealt with her.

I had a great tailor in D.C. with whom I spent a small fortune, and I've been looking for one here for 6 years. I had two jackets altered, sleeves hemmed (no buttons) and pants hemmed. I was between jobs and I needed a suit for interviews, so I asked for that piece to be rushed. I dropped off the items, and picked up the suit jacket in time for my interview. I got the job, and told Kathleen I would pick up the rest of the items the following week, but my new job was in South Sarasota, I live in Northwest Bradenton, and I didn't anticipate the traffic. I couldn't make it from work to her shop in time. I called her to explain, and she got mad at me. She threatened to give my things to goodwill. It was very upsetting. Once I settled in at my job, I took a half day off work to go pick up my items, and she had the nerve to say she was ok with me and she would do work for me again. I'm glad she isn't angry with me anymore, but I will never go back, one, because I can't get there without taking time off from work, and two, because she made me feel like an inconvenience for seeking her services.

The catch....the floor dress was the only one they could sell me. It was pretty big, but it was everything I ever dreamed of so I was determined to make it work! Then, when the wedding was nearing again I went to another alteration shop that was recommendation. As soon as she pinned up the dress I knew I could trust her and she would alter it exactly as it need to be.'It was PERFECT I cannot thank her enough and will be bringing it back there to be cleaned. (Might be slightly overkill, but her…read moretremendous work in absolute record time, made sure I could spend my energy worrying about the many other things leading up to my wedding). Due to scheduling, I only had 3 weeks between trying on my wedding dress (bought off the rack) and flying out to my international destination wedding. Upon my arrival in Sarasota, I zipped my dress, and it did not go up past my waist--oh no! I went to another Sarasota tailor who saw the dress and me in it, and simply said, "No." I spent two days wallowing and online browsing when I went back to the internet to see if there was anything else to be done. THANK THE INTERNET FOR FINDING WENDY! I made an appointment via phone for later that afternoon and was greeted in her shop by the kindest, most easy-going woman, I could not help but feel more relaxed. I tried on the dress and came out of the changing room to explain my thoughts. Wendy quietly listened and simply said, "there are so many things we can do to make this dress perfect." Music to my ears! She gave me 12 days for any last minute slimming down and completely altered the bodice of the dress in something ridiculous like 2 days--I kid you not. The dress was 3 layers, the top of which was lace. To add room to zip, she hemmed lace from the skirt of the dress which she made into fabric panels under the arms on both sides, allowing more space and the zipper to zip. Wendy charged me an unbelievably reasonable rate for the level of imagination and skill that went into this work and I was thrilled to double her requested rate for the impeccable work and piece of mind she gave me during a very stressful time. Wendy, you are a godsend and I am so grateful for your time, patience, work and opinions. I only wish I could get married again to enlist your work again! You know I will be back the next time I am in Sarasota!
