So here I am, visiting an office I don't normally work out of, researching the best place for a…read moresalad, 'cause ya know... #Vegan. I come across this "Health Food Herb Center" touting "meatless deli" to which I respond with a dash to the door. Upon walking in to this mysteriously [almost] meatless grocer/deli, I am in awe of their grocery options. Frozen mock meats (yes, an entire Thanksgiving faux turkey!), herbs/spices, cookies, teas, pastas, all sorts of incredible things! Then I get back to the deli counter, I was a little confused at first because there was some standard Boars Head fair. BUT ALAS, up in the top left corner, large deli-style loaves (I don't think that's what they're called but I'm going with it) or turkey, corned beef and salami. I opted for the salami, the lovely lady behind the counter let my try it first and my mouth erupted with salty, smokey flavor close enough to meet that I was beyond satisfied but not too close that I was hesitant. She LOADED my wrap with salami, carrots, onion, beets (shredded, she promised I wouldn't be able to taste them and she was not wrong), cabbage, vegenaise, oregano and cayenne pepper. There are very few things within the vegan spectrum that I salivate over, this was within the top 10. I grab a handful - okay 9 - of the various cookies and am on my way back to the office. Unwrapping this masterpiece had me as giddy as Jim Gaffigan when he eats bacon, there is some hardcore food envy from my non-vegan desk neighbors. The wrap was full of fresh, vibrant flavors, I could not be more thankful that this gem exists. These guys will make me look forward to coming to this office every single time now.

It was delicious! The to go sodas came in a fun branded can. The only downside is the sodas I took to go were a little flat a day or two aster I went to drink them. It's best to drink them same day, which makes sense. Ordering via kiosk is quick and convenient. The service was friendly. You have seating options at the counter or at a table. If soda isn't your thing, they also have other treats like milkshakes. I look forward to returning.

The menu spans several screens on the wall and is a bit overwhelming for someone new. They do have 2 self-serve kiosks where you order and I found the menu on there better organized and less daunting. I later saw they have a physical menu which the employee gave to the customer once things slowed down a little. The place had a retro feel - with tons of soda-related decor - but... simple. Counter seats and a number of tables so you can stay and hang out/chat. Took my kids here on a Friday afternoon and they were busy. Only one person was working and there was a huge party already there plus a few others. It took a while to get our order and because she was so busy, I couldn't ask any questions; one of my kids has multiple food allergies... so I played it safe. I ordered: Custom #1: kid size (12 oz), sprite, mango syrup, vanilla creme, mango popping boba. Kid absolutely loved this. She's notorious for not finishing anything and she did eventually finish this. Custom #2: kid size, sprite with vanilla Creme and strawberry popping boba. This was for my kid with the food allergies and he wasn't as thrilled. Said the boba tasted funny? And he wasn't bummed I didn't add in chocolate drizzle because I couldn't ask any questions. Butterscotch Lollipop Root Beer: regular size. I got this for myself and it was quite good. Tasted like a butterscotch version of a root beer float, which is a guilty pleasure I love. I was hesitant on syrups being added to soda since I don't like too sweet things, but it worked out beautifully. Bill came out to $14.75. A note: kid size and regular size are the same price but you get more for the regular size. Drinks are around $5 and can differ depending on what you add in there and how crazy you go. They come in these cute, plastic containers where the aluminum lid is screwed on, reminiscent of a can of soda. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised because I honestly don't like carbonated sugary drinks. In fact, the only time I like it is - ironically - in a float. I'd return again for sure! I didn't think they were overpriced (other than the two smallest sizes being the same/similar base price for different amounts but that's more like the kid size isn't a good deal... in fact, the mango kid custom drink cost more than mine with the additional add ins) but I do wish they had more employees working. Having said that, I wouldn't get the regular size for my kids; too much sugar! Place was adequately clean; I had to wipe down our table (watermarks and a sticky spot) but since she's the only one working, I don't hold it against her. This place is a fun addition! I'm curious to see what other flavor concoctions my kids come up with in future visits.

My husband ordered a chicken empanada and it was filled with chicken and rice and not fully fried. When I asked the server to fry it some more, she brought a new one out that was a bit more fried but just as pale as the first one. The inside was not tasty at all and it was definitely not colombian. Then there was the stale Colombian beef empanadas. These were probably the worst of all. We also ordered a bread that we asked if it was filled with cheese, the server said yes....and it had ham and cheese, so my son did not eat it. This could've just been a miscommunication, but most places tend to clarify when it is not just cheese, but also includes something else with it. The menu is very small, so I decided to order a burger which was made with pulled beef and was actually delicious. They also have Colombian style scrambled eggs and coffee which my husband liked. If it's just based on food I would say it was 50/50 your chances of getting something tasty, but because the service was not attentive or friendly (we were the only people in the cafe for awhile), it is not a place I would return to. Maybe it was just an off day?
