If you are in the Newtown area and you have not already, call into the Watershed and check it out.
I wish every suburb had something like The Watershed, it would certainly increase the chances of us saving our planet. It is completely free and is an initiative, set up by the City of Sydney Council and Marrickville Council. The purpose is to offer practical means and methods in sustainable living.
They offer services such as a bike library ,which offers free use of bicycles, cargo bikes and bicycle trailers so that people can use them instead of their cars. They also provide services to teach local businesses how to be more environmentally sustainable. Also on offer are free workshops that teach urban sustainability so you can learn about composting, worm farming and natural cleaning.
The whole concept is fantastic and the councils should be proud for spending money in such a worthwhile and ethical way. Maybe there is hope. read more
