I love the way the cosy club enhances the history of the building whilst bringing it up to date. The service was top notch, the waitstaff were attentive yet not overbearing. We were served and seated quickly and offered a supplementary vegan or gluten free menu which I thought was very convenient. There was an excellent variety on the menus and I thought the prices were very worth it as the food and drink was delicious. The music and ambience was lovely. I think the lighting overall was a bit dim for lunchtime but I think it would be perfect for dinner or later in the afternoon. Definitely recommend!

Local food is a speciality, and they have the turnover to ensure everything (including the bread) is freshly made on the day, in house. We found this cafe quite by accident when we were looking for tour maps of Russia (which incidentally we found here) The cafe offers teas from around the world as well as our usual types of breakfast teas etc. The coffee and hot chocolate are delicious. We usually just have a sandwich or cake which are always very good but I think they also do other hot foods and salads. The cafe has a very nice atmosphere and offers a range of travel books for customers to browse through whilst there which is a nice touch but also I think to encourage you to pop into the map/book shop too. A lovely, quiet out of the way place and well worth a visit.

Part of the original old cafe still has the old American style diner tables and benches. It has been extended either side of these to offer more seating areas. This is an ideal place to pop into any time of the day from breakfast to lunch to afternoon tea. The food and coffee were both great and it was so fun to sit and visit in this cute shop. If you're ever in Hereford or just passing through. This is a great place to visit. Surrounded by boutique shops, other cafes and a great looking cheese shop, it's out of the way and easy to miss. It might, however, be the best place in the whole town to get brunch. After walking around Hereford for half an hour on a Saturday morning (it's a small place), we'd given up on finding somewhere decent to get breakfast. It was only by chance that we decided to take a shortcut back to the car that we ventured up one of the small alley ways off the square towards the cathedral that we found La Madeleine. The main room is small and is overlooked by the small kitchen at the back. Filled with a mix match of wooden chairs and tables, the dining room is comfortable and would be great place to meet up for breakfast or take a breather from shopping. The real draw is the small garden at the back. Secluded and lush, it's a brilliant hidden oasis in the middle of the town, and a perfect place to sit out. We both ordered eggs Benedict which was very good. Served with bacon as opposed to ham, and a slightly unusual, buttery hollandaise, it really hit the spot. Two eggs Benedict and two strong coffees came in under twenty quid. La Madeleine is open Monday through Saturday for breakfast and lunch, and is licensed. It loses a star only for not being open on Sunday when we wanted to come back with the rest of the family.
