The Wagon wheel is the cafeteria of the Trailboss factory. They are open to the public on Friday nights and Sunday lunch (possibly more days, I am not really sure). They have a fairly basic menu but they do everything well. The decor is a treat, while the wood panel walls may be a little dated, the pictures of their trailers through the years have a unique charm and the general kitsch is not overwhelming. Keep in mind this is just the cafeteria for a factory - i can't fault them for decorating how they do and that is part of the draw for me.
I usually have the Prime rib which is served au jus. It is perfectly cooked to order and is a generous chunk of meat. Two sides round this out to be a great meal. The salad bar is fairly basic, but there are always some good pickled treats down towards the end. Nothing special, but it is good to have.
I have never disliked anything I had there. The carrot cake I had for dessert was excellent.
While it is a limited menu, they do run a fresh one every day. A daily menu is the mark of a quality restaurant, after all!
My biggest complaint is that for the worlds second biggest catfish producing county, they could take a little more care and pride in the catfish plate. It is cooked fine, nothing exceptional, but they just have a packaged tarter sauce to go with it. It would be a nice touch to have a home made sauce and maybe a little creativity with the cooking (a special spice blend for frying, for instance). read more
