My dog!

I love ALL the staff here. My dog Smiley loves going every time and he associates them with a good place rather a scary one because they treat him so well. I always worry having a pit bull that people would judge my dog for his breed but here at the visiting veterinarian they see how sweet he is and just love on him always. I love how they are always willing to work with me on payment. I NEVER feel like it's about money here. They know I am a working class family and don't make me feel like I'm a terrible pet parent if we need to re-work things to fit out budget. They truly care about my dog and see how much we love him too. This is my dogs FOREVER vet!

Dogs that are excited to stay home with the vet

When I was a teen, Dr Newsom took care of our family dog. He even helped her pass away with no pain or suffering. Right now, I've been seeing multiple vets for my dog's allergies. Like--multiple. We couldn't take the dogs to the vet today as both of us had Zoom appointments for work. I remembered my parents used The Visiting Vet and was able to get a same-day appointment. Dr Newsome walked in and identified kennel cough immediately. We got the pills and our baby has stopped hacking. The WHOLE appointment took 20 minutes. He was very professional and it was nice to see him playing with our boy a bit as he explained what was happening.

Sadie, when she joined our family in 2014.

I first started using Dr. Newsom back in the 80's and was very happy with his services. I moved out of state for a decade, moved back and resumed business with him. I informed him I was now a 3x widow, disabled and Mom to a special needs teen and we lived on social security. So he was working with me to control costs. Our service dog chewed off a dangling tumor from her leg and she was bleeding profusely. I called, explaining my ss check would not be in until a certain date and could they treat her and allow me to pay when my check comes. The lady that answers the phone proceeded to "chastise" me as how they are a business, not a charity and I should borrow money from someone, not them. She called back saying the surgical schedule had no openings until the day my ss check came. I felt so small. She made it clear that they cared more about money than their animal patients. Needless to say I have found another vet who is even cheaper and who has serviced a friend's dogs and came highly recommended. I will miss Dr. Newsome, but not the way he is now. I will miss the way he used to be.

I've always been treated with the utmost respect and the people in this office are the most down to earth, kind people you will meet. Even the customers in the waiting are nice and make you feel at home. Matter of fact, I've never had anyone mention politics. It's a vet and they're good at what they do. I've taken 2 of my birds here and Dr. Coldiron has been amazing with both of them. He saved the life of one of my birds when she was having an emergency and would have passed away that day, but they had a slot open to see her and he performed bird surgery that day. And inexpensively at that. Zoe is grateful. They also give you a phone number to text anytime you have any questions and I've never had a vet do that. Zoe and Skittle say thank you and #Trump2024!

First visit went well, 20-minute wait, but overall care for our dog was fabulous. Very reasonable fees too. Next trip was for meds only, unlike other vets, an appointment charge was not required. Another win! Unfortunately, today, less than an acceptable visit. stopped in at 11:23am, was told that all vets were at lunch, understandable, so non-issue. We purchased the needed meds, $439. An employee apologized that no vet was available but suggested we come back again at 1:30 pm. We did so, actually 1:15 pm. Two others were there before us, so not a huge time concern, plus I falsely assumed that been asked back at 1:30 pm from the no vet available at 11:30 am, we would have a priority attention. After waiting nearly 90 minutes, a long wait to be sure, but the frustration was that four other people came in after us, but were attended to before us? Their protocols and communication were very confsuing and seemingly inconsitantly enforced. A total wait time for the day nearly three hours. When I went to the check in counter expressing my confusion and dissatisfaction, then, miracuoulsy, they could "get me in" next. It was a frustrating experience, an unnecessary waste of time for me and very traumatic for our 14-year-old dog. She spent the same three hours shaking, shivering and fearful. Very unprofessional communication and concern today for us and our dog. Batting zero no, dropped from batting 1000, at best the clinic is a roll of the dice. Didn't live to the rave reviews I had heard about the clinic. Hence the maybe recommend rating.
