When we got our baby dashound we took him to Santa Fe veterinary clinic to have him checked out. We still go see them as buddy is still a patient. He is healthy and happy with no problems. We've been taking our dogs to Dr. Davis for years. I don't know what happened or why he was so hateful today but he was flat out mean in our dog's visit today. He was unprofessional at best. He has never mentioned they had a problem clipping our dogs nails or controlling her and today he said they wouldn't because it's a "shit show" when they clip her nails. He was hateful. Quite honestly, he was a complete dick. I absolutely will never take our dog there again. Seriously, he needs to seek professional help. It's wrong to be so hateful and rude to someone who is trusting their animal with you. read more

I just sent in a review to my vet, Dr. Davis at Sante Fe Vet Clinic. I told him I was going to write a review and he told me he would delete it if I did. I'm case he does here's my review: I recently had to take our older Yorkie, Stormi to the ER. She wound up having two infected teeth. While the ER Dr. was cleaning one tooth it fell out and he said he didn't have the tools to clean the other one and advised I take her to my vet to clean the other one. I called my vets office, Sante Fe Vet, and scheduled the appointment. I told the receptionist why I was needing to see Dr. Davis and also asked while she was there to trim her nails, give her the allergy shot and flea pill. Due to the Corona virus they didn't allow pet owners to come inside (which I fully understood and totally respected.) Once I arrived I called and spoke to the receptionist to check in. I told her I was there and once again went over everything she was there for. The nurse came to my car, picked up my dog and I also told her everything I brought our dog in for. 9 minutes later we were on our way home. That's after trimming her nails, giving her a full exam, flea pill, allergy shot, cleaning her tooth and processing my credit card over the phone. I thought "Wow! Normally all of that typically takes 20-30 minutes while I'm in the Dr's office but that's great!" When the nurse brought her out to my car said she was good to go. I've taken Stormi to Sante Fe Vet for a few years now so I trusted them. Once I got home I realized the nurse never mentioned her tooth so I called the office and it was the nurse that answered the phone. I asked her about Stormi's infected tooth and she stated they didn't know anything about a bad tooth. I didn't understand how that was possible as that was the main reason I brought her in? Not only did I tell the receptionist twice that it was the main reason I brought Stormi in, I personally told the nurse when she got Stormi from my car. She was frustrated and rude so I asked to speak with Dr. Davis. He also said he didn't know anything about a tooth?? I questioned Dr. Davis about the consultation/full exam fee because: A. He never personally consulted with me, the pet owner. B. If he gave her a full exam the teeth should be part of the full exam even if his staff failed to tell him that's why Stormi was there. Teeth examination has always been done during her routine exam. C. How did he have the time to give her a full exam, all the other things and run my credit card (which took about 3 of the 9 minutes in itself). After asking Dr. Davis those questions he started screaming at me and I could hardly get a word in edgewise about my concerns. He said he knew me and I complain every time I come in. (He has me confused with someone else apparently.) I asked him why I had referred several friends and family members if I always complained? Up until this point I've always been happy with the care he provided our little girl. He responded "I don't want you, your dog or anyone of you people you've referred to me as clients! I have more animals than I can take care of anyway." I asked if he would at least look at her bad tooth since I paid for the consultation and he said "No, find another vet and you won't find one as cheap as me in Edmond." At that point I told him I was going to write a review and he said "please do because only idiots like you do that and only idiots like you read them." and he hung up on me. My husband called him once he got home from work, hours later, after I had told him about the conversation I had with Dr. Davis. After the 3rd time (30-45 minutes later) Dr. Davis finally accepted his call. He admitted to my husband that he screamed at me but never apologized for it. He didn't raise his voice to my husband... I'm assuming because it was a male he was talking to. Never again will I step foot in that place and I hope this helps others from taking their beloved animals to this man. read more

After using this clinic for six years, I have been treated poorly and have chosen to change vets. Had my dog there for teeth cleaning and extractions which is an expensive procedure. Bella was at the clinic for annual shots and meds 10 days prior which was over $200 and was paid, before booking the teeth cleaning I asked if I could pay half at the date of service and the remaining within the month. The receptionist said she would ask the vet, and came back and said he approved. I had been allowed to split the payments before when it was expensive visits. The day of service, when I picked Bella up and was prepared to pay the 50% the receptionist said I had to pay in full. I explained that I had gotten approval prior to booking the service, at which time she consulted with the vet and he did not remember approving a 50% payment. The receptionist was rude and belligerent, pretty much accused me of lying, and I was embarrassed and humiliated. I paid the $200 I had agreed to, because It was all I had available, but my daughter called in the next morning and paid the balance, which made over $600 paid to them in less than two weeks. There had been other things that had happened in the past that made me feel like the service was less than i thought it should be. On this visit I called it to the vets attention that Bella had lost weight and I was concerned to have her put to sleep for the procedure. He said she looks healthy to him and brought in an infant scale to weigh her again. She weighed 1 lb more than the receptionist had recorded. He said that happens all the time, the receptionists are not good about insuring the pet is on the scale properly , when they record the weight. Bella weighs 10.8 pounds and the weight recorded was 10. At one point her weight was recorded at 15, the vet said he doubted she had ever weighed near that amount. I think that is unacceptable. My opinion. I was always pleased when I saw Dr. Paul, the time prior to the procedure, we saw a younger Dr. He was abrupt and hurried. It was the $200 visit. I will do the follow up visit, because the fee was included in the charge already paid, but will pick up her records and have since secured a new Vet. read more

It's taken me almost two years to explain this. I had a standard poodle that I took to Santa Fe veterinary clinic to have a large growth removed from her upper back area. I was fairly pleased with the surgery. The cost was a little high I thought. And the staff was a little cold and unfriendly in my opinion. My dog did ok for the next 5-6 months and then she started developing more growths over her whole body and also started showing some signs of dementia like behavior. I had a strong feeling that this was going to be a complex case, but I wanted to make sure and took her back to Santa Fe. I explained what was going on and asked if it was something they felt comfortable taking care of or asked if I should take her somewhere more specialized like OSU. They spent maybe 3 minutes with me. The vet never even touched my dog and told me to go to OSU AND proceeded to charge me a huge office visit fee. I had just spent a huge amount of money a few months earlier on her surgery and they knew I was facing more exorbitant bills. Not only did they charge me for nothing,, but the whole staff's attitude was so cold snd uncaring. Not once did any of the staff wish us luck or give her a pet or ask us to keep them updated. OSU diagnosed her with advanced cancer. My sweet girl had some type of stroke or something on Christmas Day. I sat with her all day and laid with her through the night. I gave Santa Fe another Chance the day after Christmas. My sweet girl desperately needed to be at peace. Again, I called and was crying and explained the situation and told them I really needed to make sure she found peace that morning. She was barely conscious and it was so heartbreaking to think what she might have been feeling at the time. Again, I got the same cold and heartless attitude I had received previously. They told me I could bring her in at 4:30 pm. Are you kidding! My sweet girl had suffered long enough. She needed help that morning. I was already beyond upset and sad. Their heartless attitude added to my already devastating morning. It was the day after Christmas and I'm a single mom to 5 kids who had just had the worst Christmas ever. I'm appalled that a veterinary clinic can be so uncaring. The situation was just heartbreaking, but they made it 100 times worse than it ever should have been. I received nothing but coldness from the very start with the whole staff. If you love your animals and consider them Part of your family, choose another clinic with a heart rather than one that is interested in one thing.... Lining their pockets. read more

So long story short is we found a stray. Went in early this morning to get her checked for a chip, and when there wasn't one we decided to schedule an appointment for checkup. The receptionist and the technician were absolutely wonderful! But then the man who checked our dog came in, Paul Davis. We greeted him with "Hey, guy!" And was immediately rewarded with rude and hostile behavior. He got very angry that we did not address him as doctor. And due to that I will not address him as such here. We were only trying to be friendly and appreciative. And then he proceeded to insist we give up the dog. Very obviously implying we shouldn't have her in our care. I don't care what his problem is. We have had issues with this clinic before in terms of communication and follow through on their part and a person in their front desk being rude and unprofessional but were able to look past that due to the doctors usually being very nice and professional and us being overall satisfied with the care given (which is the important part). We took our dog in at the first of the month for a check up due to a small growth we had noticed. Got an appointment fairly easily, about a week out. After the check up we were told she would need surgery to remove the growth and began trying to schedule the surgery. Their schedule was fairly booked due to their surgery schedule and due to the doctor being on vacation. After finding a date that worked we were told we would be called the day before the surgery to go over everything in terms of drop off time, pick up time, and any dietary restrictions. We even asked for the info then to write down but were assured that wasn't necessary because of the follow up call the day before. (I do want to note that this receptionist was not the same one that had been rude and unprofessional before. This receptionist was super sweet and very good at her job.) The day before comes and no call. We tried calling multiple times throughout the day (trying to be proactive and knowing businesses get busy) and never getting through until 20 minutes until close. After waiting on hold for 15 minutes (now 5 minutes before close) I call from another phone while remaining on hold and am asked to hold to which I interjected "well actually I've been on hold for 15 minutes and am afraid of waiting until you are closed and just want to confirm our surgery for tomorrow since we never received a call like we were told we would." To which a male, whom would reveal themselves to be the doctor says in an annoyed and rude tone "well what do you need to know?", I reply "well we were told we would be contacted with information on when to drop our dog off and when to pick her up and just other basic information we weren't given when we scheduled the surgery." "Drop her off between 7-9 and pick her up when it's done." He said in an even more unpleasant tone. At this point I was upset because of the rudeness and lack of follow through on their part so I said in a calm but stern way "well, maybe we should reschedule since it sounds like there isn't the organization or information we would like to feel comfortable bringing our dog in tomorrow." To which the doctor snapped back at me with "fine, but I don't know what information you think you need since I told you all this at the consultation (which was not true)." So I then replied back, now very perturbed "ok, yeah I'm gunna find someplace to take my dog that is more professional." To which the doctor angrily and loudly says "fine, whatever!" And hangs up on me. I cannot believe that a doctor who we were going to trust with the care of our beloved dog would be so rude and unprofessional like that. I would highly recommend avoiding this clinic as they are inconsistent with their service, the care is adequate but the way in which they treat their customers is rude and unprofessional. read more

I like this clinic. I can always get my dogs in, and I can leave them if needed. We haven't ever had to wait long. I think they do a good job with treatment balancing overdoing it while still be attentive to needs. My only criticism is that they seem to nickel and dime a bit. There is a filing fee for records for example, and when I requested a new rabies tag, they seemed that it was no big deal. Then I was charged about $10 for the new tag. Dr. Davis needs to talk with a professional about customer service. Yelling at my mother because she opened the door so as to not be in a tiny claustrophobic exam room? I'm sorry but no. You work in a business that relies on good customer service. And in a town with a different vet clinic every mile, you better never forget that word of mouth goes a long way. We have been going to you for almost 15 years, and to be treated like that is completely unacceptable. You've had a long day at work? So has every person in the working force currently. You never, ever take YOUR frustrations out on a customer. That is cowardly and unprofessional. More than being mad, we are very disappointed in you. You are clearly not the veterinarian nor person that we were under the impression of you being. I really hope you think about your customer service and people skills and maybe talk to a professional who can help you with client relations. Clearly something needs to change. And you know what the worst part is? Our elderly cat is still very ill and in pain. A cat that has only seen you for the past 14 years of her life. But no. Never again will we or our animals walk through your doors. And yes, I will tell every person I can when it comes up in conversation what an un professional veterinarian you are. But for now, we are taking our sick cat and business elsewhere and won't hesitate to share our negative experience at your clinic with others. read more

My husband flies for the Navy so we are constantly moving. Dr. Davis and his staff are by far the best veterinary practice that we have ever been too. The staff is extremely curtious and efficient, they have always gone above and beyond what is required of their profession. Dr. Davis does not care about you OR your animal. He and his staff (with the exception of Dr. Metcalf) are fake and snotty and don't do a very good job at hiding that fake smile. They never have a Dr. on call, and just leave the emergency hospital number on the voice mail. Our dogs had several procedures with them, and not ONCE did they ever call to check on how they were doing. After my husband saw and heard how I was treated after I called to return one of the Dr's calls to get lab results from a procedure & one of his assistants answered the phone and was very hateful and hung up on me, he called their office. Dr. Davis refused to even address the issue of how I was treated, which was why my husband was so upset and calling in the first place, and flat out didn't care. He told my husband he didn't care how much we just spent with them and just blew him off. Then, he had to nerve to tell him that he was really just mad that he hadn't gotten the lab results yet. My husband assured him multiple times, that he wasn't upset about that at all. He was upset at how HIS staff treated me. It didn't make a difference, and he didn't care one bit. It was never addressed, or even an apology issued. It's unfortunate that Dr. Metcalf is so sweet and in a group like that. I know a lot of people that go to this facility, and I have and will make sure they are aware of the way we were treated. There's a lot of veterinarians in Edmond and the surrounding areas, and if I were you, I'd just bypass this one and save yourself the stress and heartache and go to somebody that will genuinely care about your pets. read more

It is difficult for me to believe that "Z R." and "Turtle G" are reviewing the same clinic that I have personally taken all of my animals to for more than 10 years. Dr. Davis has seen 4 of my dogs, 3 of my guinea pigs, one cat who is now sporting more than 9 lives, and whatever animal I come across that is in need of veterinary care from someone that I wholeheartedly trust. It is also difficult for me to believe that someone who has completed over 8 years of graduate work and dedicated his life to the care and treatment of our beloved animals (while dealing with the owners) would "not care" about them. My cat was recently hit by a car, and my first response was to call Dr. Davis's office. It was 12:00 and time for their lunch hour, but he stayed and took care of him-one example of many that I could use regarding his compassionate care. As for the emergency vet clinic, I am grateful to have that referral. As much as I like Dr. Davis, I am sure that he would like to spend some time at home with his family as well as his practice. As an ICU nurse, I can assure you that if he were to take call, he would never make it home. The front staff has always been more than helpful with any of my concerns regarding my animals, and are quite friendly. They have always treated my pets as if they were their own. Many times, the issues tend to boil down to money. I have checked other offices and find his prices to be very reasonable. We do have many fine veterinarians in this area. You can add Dr. Davis, and his new associate, Dr. Knotts, to that list. read more

So sorry to have to write a critical review, but my pets deserve caring veterinarians, which I definitely did not find at this clinic. After taking my beloved 9 year old lab in for an exam because suddenly he just was not acting well (very lethargic), they did testing and x-rays and found just a few numbers off a little.($500+ for the exam, x-rays and meds). However, the vet called back a week later saying that the x-ray specialist had seen a mass between his liver and spleen, and I should consider taking him to a specialist. Three days after that, on Friday afternoon, he seemed to be getting much worse, so I called to ask a few more questions and advice of the vet. I was told that the vet was not in, would be in on saturday morning but would only return my call if there was time between appointments, and if not, it would be Tuesday before I received a call back. This is now 2-1/2 months later and I never received that call back. In fact, they don't know that only a week later I had to have my pet put down because he was in so much pain. I would never, ever go back there and would advise anyone who cares about their pets to avoid them and find a place that truly cares about pets. read more

If I could give Dr. Davis and his staff 10 stars I would. I have used Santa Fe Square Veterinary Clinic for more than 20 years. I was a client when Dr. Davis bought the practice from Dr. Shadid. I didn't think the service could get any better than it already was. Dr. Davis has made it even better. They have taken excellent care of my cats over the years through standard illness, cancer, diabetes, and have been there when the time came to let our precious pets go. I dont like this clinic. And I dont trust Dr. Davis. Rude front desk staff. I have been going to him for a while - few years. My dog had a large tooth extraction and when I came to pick him up he didnt look like he had been cleaned up very well. When I got him home I washed his face and there was a lot of blood in his fur. It was pretty bad. My dogs health suddenly began to decline in January - not sure what was happening. Took him to "his vet" Dr. Davis - he took some x-rays and ran a blood test. Then promptly told me that my dog probably has cushings disease and I needed another test. Brought my dog back a couple of days later for the additional test and was told it would take 1 week to get the results. I waited going on 2 weeks with no word. I made 3 calls trying to get the results, yet no one new anything and Dr. Davis was out of town the entire time, didn't leave any info with his other vet or his staff. And was told at one point "the results are not in the computer". Finally (going into the 3rd week) I call again and Dr. Davis gets on the phone with me. Who told me the test wasn't conclusive and to "just limit his water and we will monitor him" which meant coming in to "monitor" his blood. I spent $400 for all of the tests and x-rays and waited 3 weeks to be told 'just limit his water?!' And limit it to just 6 cups a day for a 60lb dog. And then he wanted to pass me off to another internal med vet. I told him I was upset at the cost of all this with NO info. His response was in a nasty tone "I cant help it if it costs you money!!" And when I described his worsening symptoms his response was "huh, so is this new or ongoing." Was he in the room when I told him all this??? I went on a search to find a vet who truly cares about the animal AND the owners. I did find one, brought all of my dogs vet records and recent tests from Dr. Davis (by the way the tests results were back the very next day - but I waited 3 weeks). My new vet told me that he has a bladder infection by looking at the test results from Davis because there was blood in the urine and did a urine test on my visit just to be sure. This may not be the entire issue with my dog, but she put together a game plan with me to work toward a solution. read more
