Beautiful venue hidden in the Castle Hills area of San Antonio! Driving there you would not expect this property and green space to be here. The driveway is a little confusing but once you pull in there is parking in the back. There's an old home as the main venue, a large courtyard and a smaller building in the back with huge windows and glass garage doors that can open all the way for an indoor/outdoor spot. They were hosting a candlelight concert which is a series and the staff were great at directing everyone where to go and help with getting food and drinks they were offering. read more

My review is as a vendor for a wedding. I do pet nannying during weddings and had a client book me to walk their dog down the aisle and watch him during dinner. The Veranda team was very accommodating, making sure I got served all my dinner courses even though I was in a different area from the guests with the pup. Came here for a young professional networking event. The venue is so beautiful both indoors and outdoors. I can definitely see this place becoming a popular spot to host weddings, cocktail parties and special gatherings, etc. I was very impressed with the giant oak trees, luscious gardens, courtyard, fountain, pavilion, patio, the architecture and the overall design of the space. It was very elegant, contemporary yet with an old charm. I didn't even feel I was in the heart of SA. The event was very nicely set up with tasty food through out the venue and two bars (one inside, the other outdoors). The venue is very spacious for people to walk around comfortably and talk to one another. Everyone was dressed up looking nice and professional. After dusk, the whole place was lit up. We had our wedding here in January 2021 and it was wonderful! Kim and The Veranda squad were accommodating and helped us with every question we had. The venue is perfect for large gatherings because there were different beautiful spots for guests to explore and hang out before the ceremony and during our cocktail hour. They provide a lot of onsite ceremony location options.There was a lovely bridal suite and a grooms suite. We had a large wedding party so we utilized their cottage as well! I don't have photos of the scenery itself but we were able to stay there for our wedding photos as well. The Veranda was the perfect choice for our magical day! read more

Celebrated a beautiful couple at this venue. Iv always driven by this place and wanted to check it out because of how secretive the entrance is. When you pull in it's a small dirt road with beautiful big trees. There is not much room for parking, so this venue is for small events, like maybe 50. The ceremony was held outside on the nice green grass, only downside was the mosquitos. Next the guests gathered in a small but elegant building where the guestbook, gifts and cocktail hour was. Then we all gathered into the main dining hall where we had dinner and celebrated. The hall was not too big but a big enough space for everyone. I was really impressed with this venue. I attended a wedding here and loved the different spaces within the venue. For example, they have a lovely courtyard space for cocktail hour, a beautiful lawn space for a ceremony, and a covered dance floor area for dinner and dancing. As a guest, I enjoyed the change of moods, but the convenience of just walking a few steps to the next location. The foliage was lush and verdant, and the staff was especially charming. That said, you can hear just a little bit of street noise on the lawn, so if that bothers you make sure to do the ceremony inside or farther away from the street. read more

It was once home to Chef Jason Dady's The Lodge, which I never had the chance to experience, but from what I've heard they've made plenty of changes. With multiple rooms to accommodate parties of any style, you could have your entire event inside, but why would you when the grounds and the amazing covered patio out back are so inviting? Many times with venues that are first and foremost pretty, the logistical things tend to be overlooked, but not here. There are plenty of restrooms, a large catering kitchen, a bride's room, a large driveway where valet can be arranged, a great bar area, and outdoor pathways for romantic meandering. For sure, parking is tricky since it's more like a private residence, but that just gives you an excuse to go all out and include valet parking for your guest - it's not even as expensive as you would think. read more

I had my baby shower at The Veranda, and cannot be more happier with this place! Stacy took care of all my requests, and also gave me a customized menu for the price I was comfortable with. I met with her twice, one was to get a tour of the venue and the second was to discuss the set up of the shower. I had close to 50 guests come in, and she gave us the option of setting up in the patio. Veranda is a very beautiful venue! all my guests loved it! They allowed us to do our own decorations as long as we did not break anything or use tape. Food was yummy hot and amazing. Their sangria was super yummy tooo! The service staff were polite and very welcoming. All in all a great place, looks pretty, food is yummy sumptuous! and the service is welcoming. You cannot go wrong with this place! The Veranda is San Antonio's Best Kept Secret. Located in Castle Hills, near West Ave and Lockhill-Selma Roads. This Castle Hills landmark, which once was a lovely home estate, is now the perfect venue for a wide variety of events including weddings, receptions, business functions and holiday parties. The grounds are very well maintained, giant oaks, luscious gardens and water features, and all the modern amenities needed. Interesting architecture and landscapes to serve as a backdrop for portraits. This is really a nice venue. We have recently attended three separate events at this venue and each time it was a success. Open pavilion style seating is available with ample air chillers and very large ceiling fans to accommodate the Texas heat. Very comfortable. Food catering and table service was very fine. We attended a Mother's day event recently with approximately 100 guests. We had buffet style dining with center pieces of assorted desserts. We will be back! read more

Do not do business with these people. And this isn't some idiotic complaint to get mad at these people for spilling my water or something simple. Please read: We signed a contract for a dollar amount and 4 days later they are trying to bill us for a labor fee that we never signed for in our contract to set up and take down chairs. The owner and staff try to play a guilt trip on you to get you to pay for the fee by saying "Well you had a good event right? We have to pay our people. Are you telling me we shouldn't pay our people?" I can't think of a business that can get away with signing a contract, then get paid, then try to bill you more for non-agreed fees. Literally, they are deceptive in their dealings. So, I would say get in writing the total amount before you decide this is your place, but chances are, it won't matter anyway. Or, just don't do business with shady people. Chanel, literally said "I don't have energy for this" as I tried to state why this was wrong in a calm voice. 5 STARS! Have you SEEN the Veranda? It is a winner! The grounds of the property are incredible - huge oak trees, a lot of beautiful plants and flowers. There are so many different areas - the main house, the patio, the lawn(s), the pavilion, and the cottage. Everywhere you turn you will notice so many gorgeous details. Originally I signed a contract with the Veranda for my wedding, but after some big changes in mine and my (now) husband's life, we ended up having to cancel our wedding (we eloped). I let the wonderful staff at the Veranda know about our situation, and while the initial deposit was non-refundable, they said they would be more than happy to work with us on a future event. Fast forward to now (November 2014), I am pregnant and when thinking about places to have my baby shower, The Veranda was the first place that popped in my mind. IT.WAS.PERFECT. We had about 20 people at the "Cottage", which is a small little house off to the left of the pavilion. It has beautiful wood beams, white twinkle lights, and a cute bathroom. The weather was so nice, so we had the windows open - it was SO GORGEOUS! There was plenty of room for 4 round tables, a gift table, a cocktail table for the cake, as well as the tables for the food. I cannot express enough how PRETTY and classy everything was. The food we had was catered by The Spice of Life and was delicious. It was a brunch, so they provided us with 3 selections of sweet and savory brunch entrees as well as passed appetizers, pastries, and a mimosa service (everyone LOVED their Scarlet Mimosa!). The staff was amazing - very attentive and professional. While I would have LOVED to have my wedding at The Veranda, I was more than happy to have my baby shower there. They exceeded every expectation I had with their excellent customer service, delicious food, and GORGEOUS venue. I can't wait to have my next event there. Attended my son's wedding at the venue. Nothing special! Staff seemed imposed upon when asked for basic assistance. The brides walkway to the unprotected lawn was over a pebble walkway. wear your tennis shoes. Food was most unimpressive. Served cold and definitely not worth the funds charged. Despite providing meat for one of the main entries they were charged full price for the meal ($35). this meat was perfectly prepared but the plate itself not worth half the cost. the plate included a mystery product. dumpling or gnocchi-just not sure. Any way it was cold,gummy and flavorless. I am sure there are better values in San Antonio for a wedding. 3 star is generous. read more

We had our daughter's baby shower at the Veranda this past Saturday. Everything about it was great. The grounds are beautiful, with a winding tree-lined road winding through the property. The room we were in was actually the first floor of an elegant old house that fit our group of 35 very comfortably. The room definitely had character, and was not your typical rental hall venue. The food was delicious and plentiful, and Carol, who oversaw the event, did a great job of making sure everyone had everything they needed. Many of our guests said that it was the best baby shower they had ever attended. read more

We had our wedding reception here and it was like a dream! They are renovating the pavilion and didn't get it done in time for our night, however they (and our wedding planner - Keri The Event Assistant) did an amazing job of making everything perfect. This place is a hidden gem in San Antonio and even in the middle of August in an open pavilion it was cool enough. One benefit from a planning aspect is they have their own (on site) catering, they do linens and tables, which made things a lot easier. Not to mention the Spice of Life food is incredible. I'd have to say for our excellent time at the veranda there were simply too many things that went wrong for us to appreciate the good things that happened.. Let me first say that if you are going to get married here make sure you have a small party for this facility to handle.. We thought 140 people were manageable and what we saw was not the case.. We had more than half of our party waiting on food at any giving time during dinner and my bride wasn't even served when she requested another serving... Second DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOUR CAKE!! If you do, you will regret it... We had an amazing three layered cake that was supposed to feed our entire party.. But because the on site chef said that butter cream icing and flowers were to difficult to remove from the cake so they insisted on cutting all of the icing from the cake and not even bothering to remove our layers so they served them as one layer without icing.. They butchered our 800 dollar cake.. We emailed the chef and coordinator to only get a tough shit email reply.. I feel this is unacceptable.. And last but not least the thing that seems criminal to me is that if you decide to use there alcohol services use caution.. we decided to use their services and payed all fees and gurtuatees to only see the bar tenders with tip jars throughout the entire evening.. This is illegal I feel to pay the service cost then see them making more money on top of what we already payed for this service... I am highly upset with the veranda.. It was a very shitty situation to feel like your money was taken from you by people that were supposed to care about your special day, to only find out they just want your money... I wish we could have had a better experience like the others on this page..
