The guys working here are very friendly, and you get the impression that they treat every customer differently, and with great care - they try to pander to your every custom-made need, whether you want a simple speaker set, or a full multi-room entertainment system installed. You can tell they have a real passion for making people enjoy home entertainment, but as they stock specialist products and offer such a fine taylor-made service, the prices may put you off. I plan to return here when I have more money than sense. One day...

I then made the erorr of buying stuff from somewhere else which lasted only a rubbish 5 years! So I returned to Audio Projects 5 years ago, and guess what, tho technology's changed, you still get the best advice, the most helpful, personal customer service, and the most amazing, durable, quality products (and Bill is still there too!). They are probably a bit more expensive in the short term, but will work out cheaper in the longer term because they LAST. And they are the best your ears will ever hear. It's very rare these days to still have around shops like this - small independents which care - about their customers, their service and their products. Use em and treasure em people, or you could lose em...

Although still selling parts and equipment such as soldering irons and all manner of switches and sockets, they have branched out into toys, games, and audio/video equipment as well as computer upgrades. If you are looking for a cable to connect your new TV to your gaming system, then maplin's probably have it in stock cheaper than your local electronic superstore. Although the wide range of products offered has 'watered down' the maplin store slightly, it is still a treasure-trove for out-of-the-ordinary electronic items and weird and wonderful bits you won't find anywhere else.

Phoned a number of stores in Leeds as it was easier for me to commute to, with no success. Decided to try Maplins in Bradford after Maplins in Leeds suggested the idea. After waiting on the phone for 13 minutes to speak to someone in store found they had one, yay! So I reserved it. Arrived in Bradford, couldn't find the store so phoned them - another 7 minute wait. When I entered the store the item I had reserved earlier was produced only to find it was an India to UK adapter! I explained that wasn't what I asked for and that I'd emphasised on the phone it needed to be the other way round ie UK to India adapter. What a waste of a journey, waste of time queuing on the phone and left without even an apology. Sorry but you really need to brush up on all sorts here Maplins.

Me and my partner visited the shop on the 10th April (A.M) to resolve this issue and we were told that ' this phone was never taken to the shop ' and he didn't have a clue what we were on about. This trader has been reported to trading standards and they have given us instructions and advice on resolving this issue. I would just like to add we are a couple in our 40's and don't have a habit of trying to get people in trouble but this is a really disgusting and incompetent way to treat the paying public.

I bought an induction hob from Gotchs in Selby and had it fitted by them in October this year…read more within two months the hob made a loud banging noise, caused a fuse to go and broke. Whilst outside the 30 day right to refund and return stipulated under the 2015 Consumer Act this is well within the six month period in which it is the retailers responsibility, not the manufacturers, to either fix or replace the item. Gotchs failed to recognize this and told us we had to go to the manufacturer. This is very unhelpful and I'll-informed customer service. This really does need rectifying as Gotchs will lose customers.

Gotch's is an electrical store selling very much what you would expect in the likes of Curry's on Gowthorpe. Gotch's is a family run business that has built up a good reputation amongst the locals not only for its goods but also for it excellent sales and after sales service. The Interior is larger than you would think with a range of house hold appliances as well as ranges in TV's and music. In the past we have brought a freezer and a tumble dryer, and that's even after shopping around for prices. The prices are too similar to bother with the big companies and its nice to support a Selby business over the national stores.

In total I believe the staff were here for 4 minutes and were itching to leave as soon as they looked at my doorframe and refused to attempt to try and find a way to get the freezer into my living room and informed me multiple times "we arent paid to do this". This is unacceptable considering I paid money to deliver it so yes, they are paid to do this. They lazily informed me that I should take the hinges off but when I asked if they would I was shot down with a "no. I'm not paid for that". Clearly the staff have an attitude problem and zero customer service skills. Taking advantage of the fact that people require delivery of items and charging them only to have the staff almost leave it in the hallway is disgraceful. I asked if taking the hinges off would guarantee it would go in, as if it didn't it would mean we would have to return it and I'm guessing the company wouldn't have accepted it if the hinges had been removed. They did not give me any sort of guarantee that it would fit in. One person suggested tape measuring but the staff did not take this into account and just verbally said "I'm sure it would fit" I understand they have other jobs to get to but this attitude is disgusting and they shouldn't have a time frame that's less than 5 minutes to deliver this item. The staff forced my elderly father to lift the sofas and push the door and pretty much get it in ourselves. I would hope the staff members would go through some sort of disciplinary service as I myself have worked in retail and if I had spoken to customers like your staff did today I am 100% sure I would have been dismissed.

The store is surprisingly large for a city centre location, it's over two floors, but with escalators going up only if you're heading down you'll need to use the stairs or find the elevator. The store stocks a wide range of electronics from computers to printers, TV's to smart speakers, as well as accessories including ink, and laptop carrying cases. There is a small Apple section, although I much prefer John Lewis at the Victoria Quarter or the Apple Store inside Trinity for Apple products, as the selection is limited. Although they had the advertising in-store for the iPhone 15, the only model out to demo was the iPhone 14, they also seemed to only have the older MacBook Pro's compared to the latest generation - what's the deal with that? The location is great for those who are in the city centre but the problem with this is that the store doesn't have parking, and for a store that specialises in large electronic items from printers to laptops and TVs, that isn't practical, there is Q-Park St Johns Centre which is located a five-minute walk away, but again depending on what you're buying, this could be hard to carry around a busy city centre on foot. 4* - It's a huge store, which is rare for a city centre, being located closer to parking and ensuring they stock a range of the latest tech would be big improvements, otherwise they risk becoming more of an outlet.
