Extremely Disappointed with the Healthcare Service in Memphis I had a 9:00 AM appointment, and it's now 10:00 AM.I'm still waiting to be seen. This is completely unacceptable. Why schedule appointments if you're going to keep patients waiting for over an hour without explanation? This level of service is frustrating and shows a lack of respect for people's time. read more

No follow-up whatsoever. The patient portal has not been updated with my past visits for 3 years. No follow-up calls with lab or test results. The medical records voicemail box was full today, and hung up on me. I will be changing doctors immediately. read more

The Surgery Scheduler, her name is Sherry is one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. Dr Greenberger seems to be very knowledgeable, but office staff is very bad. No callbacks, Rude and not professional. read more

My doctor is great, but it is routine to wait 1:30-2 hours which is absolutely ridiculous. They couldn't care less in office, it's like heading $$$$ in there. Constantly overbook with no regard for patients time , just pack them in and collect the $$$$ read more

We sat and waited for 2 hours for a10:00 appointment. They didn't care they were wasting our time. They were not friendly or helpful when I did go and inquire as to why it was taking to long and how much longer it would be. If you can find any other office that does the same work, go there. This place is terrible. read more

I would not recommend this practice as it seems they prioritize money over patient care. I had an elevated PSA of 4.5 at my annual checkup and was referred to this practice. I arrived early as per their suggestion and turned in my paperwork and insurance. Sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes, the waiting room was crowded and clearly they schedule everyone at the same time and work through the list. Good point is as soon as I was in the exam room Dr. Gubin came right in. First thing he told me, based solely on one elevated test, was that I have prostate cancer. Very devastating news to hear. The next thing was a biopsy (surgery) was necessary to confirm this diagnosis. Then he said it is akin to trying to find one seed in and orange and you could insert a needle 100 times and not hit the seed. So a biopsy was kind of useless based on his analogy. I expressed concern that this was going to be expensive and he said insurance would cover it all. I explained that I was using the marketplace and had a $9500 deductible. He looked crestfallen and suggested a re-test. Re-test complete with a PSA of 0.9, meaning cancer highly unlikely. The retest or a prostate exam should have been the first thing out of his mouth, not an unfounded diagnosis of cancer. An MRI should have been the second thing recommended as it is non-invasive and would show any abnormalities, which could then be targeted for biopsy. All in all a terrible experience that created unnecessary worry among family and friends. read more

Rusty Shappley is the absolute best urologist in Memphis. He gave great care to my mother and I absolutely loved working with him as well .. he not only has the knowledge and expertise in this field but he has the heart . Dr DeSouza is excellent! She resolved my issue, which is the most important thing, and she's so upbeat and pleasant to be around. The BEST urologist without a doubt. The ladies at the front desk were professional and pleasant. They do their jobs efficiently and effectively. read more

they told me they'd call me back never did. i call them back to be told i won't be able to see anyone this year. total waste of time.

I had an appointment scheduled by the clinic a year ago for Sept. 9 @ 2 pm, sent to my Outlook calendar, & also given a card. I checked in early at 1:40 pm. I watched as patients who arrived after me were called back to see my physician, were seen, then left as I sat there waiting. At 3 pm, I told the front desk I was still waiting & they assured me I would be seen. At 3:45 pm, I checked back with the front desk & was then told that my appointment was for Sept. 13. I informed them that was not true, I had the Outlook calendar appointment they sent as well as the card which both stated Sept. 9. I was told then I would be seen. I told them if I was not seen by 4 pm I would be leaving. I left at 4 pm. At that point, the crowded waiting room was down to 10 patients. Every patient who arrived after me was seen by my physician except for me. There is no excuse for this. The front desk does not know the meaning of the words "customer service." I will not be returning to this clinic at Bapt. mphs. ever! read more

Dr. Greenberger is one of the best. But his staff is sorry as hell! They absolutely do not have any compassion, people skills, etiquette, or care for how they talk to their patients. My experience with Memphis Urology has been unpleasant from the start. Communication is really an issue for this practice resulting in problems including arriving for scheduled appointments that the office canceled, the doctor not showing up for an appointment, arriving for surgery to learn the doctor was not scheduled for that day, arriving at the appointment time to find the office closed. Calls and emails go unanswered. I could not find anyone who could or would answer questions about treatment and patient care. A prescription was filed incorrectly with the pharmacy resulting in a one day delay. Many staff members were abrupt and uncaring, a real lack of compassion. I have serious concerns about the quality of care received. read more

Horrible experience. Scheduled first appointment expecting a consultation, did not realize they were expecting to do surgery that exact day. Rescheduled for another during a time that we unexpectedly had a soccer tournament to go to. Rescheduled one last time and entire family was positive for COVID. Called the office and explained, even offered proof of the positive results. Did not want to walk in and spread to anyone else. They did not care at all. Said they would not reschedule, even though we unexpectedly got COVID and did not want to walk in their office contagious. Completely inconsiderate. Spoke to Gabrielle and she said that Judy did not care. They would not be understanding and give us another appointment. Worse experience from a Dr office. You would think they would be a lot more understanding during a situation like this. I guess they preferred us not to say anything and attend the appointment getting everyone sick! read more

Dr. Greenberger, Jessica Hughes FNP and his Nurses are phenomenal! I've never met a Doctor who goes out of their way to take care of Patients like they do! So many Doctors nowadays lack compassion and thorough care... Not Dr. Greenberger! Too many patients for the current staff to handle. Waiting room is standing room only and wait time is over 2 hours. We saw a 90 year old woman, who was by herself, literally fall into the waiting room as she crossed the threshold, followed by a patient who started to experience blood sugar issues related to diabetes. Nurse assured us this was a typical day. Dr. Greenburger is fantastic, but his nurse is the rudest nurse I have ever encountered. She failed to schedule a PET scan, blamed it on how busy she was with clinicals and complained that the office needed to stop using "STAT" for procedures-that nothing was "STAT". She closed out a message my husband had left , after she hadn't even contacted him- again saying she had been so busy with clinicals all day, followed by, she would be busy with clinicals the following day. My husband reminded her he had prostate cancer to which she replied, "Everyone has prostate cancer!!" read more

The only reason I don't give this place 1 star is because Dr. Gubin is a skilled physician and has helped me with issues in the past. I respect him and the nurses who work for him, but his front-of-house is what makes me never want to come back. They all look and act just like zombies: shambling around with vacant looks, moving slowly, and acting as though they would rather be anywhere but there. Many times, I've heard them talking about patients at the desk and laughing about them. The looks they give me when I come up to the desk are ones that say, "You have a bathroom problem? You're disgusting. At least I'm good enough not to have one." They make me feel embarrassed and ashamed, and I can tell that not a single one of them cares about me as a person. I understand that they deal with urine and feces all day, but they don't need to take that out on me. I've already left two surveys in their office asking that something be said to the staff, but I might as well have thrown them in the trash for all the good they did me. I'm looking forward to finding a new place that treats me better. read more

The Urology Group would not call in Flomax for my husband who was in terrible pain when we were out of town just because he had not been in for an annual exam. (a urology checkup during Covid!) He has been a patient for years and had kidney stone surgery by Dr. Shappley. The nurse told me she had called it in so I rented a taxi to run pick it up and when I got there, she called me and said she had just noticed he had not been in for a checkup in a year. I had to pay for a taxi back to the hotel and continue to watch my husband in agony. They have no empathy and could have cared less!! I will be picking up his files and finding a urologist that cares instead of one that is concerned only about making money. read more

I have seen Dr. Gubin and felt like my time with him was on auto-pilot. He really went down in my opinion when he began to prescribe a medication that I had clearly stated I was allergic to. It would have been beneficial to glance at my full record. The billing department is rude and insensitive! I would not recommend anyone see this urologist. I later saw Dr. Gerald Dang and came away with excellent reviews. read more

Worst experience I have ever had at a physician's office. Dr. Gubin messed up my vasectomy by cutting too close to my vas deferens and now I have chronic pain. I'm having to see another urologist to see if they can fix what he did. At the same time, the office had quoted me an office and test charges multiple times, then sent me a bill 5 times larger than what they quoted me. When I called to ask about it, I was told, "that was just an estimate. You agreed to pay for anything we did." And good luck asking Dr. Gubin any questions. He won't spend longer than 60 seconds per patient. read more

When my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer, we went to Urology Group. We are satisfied with billing department, front desk, nurses, and lab. The doctor however is rude, not sympathetic, and belittles my husband at every visit. Go to Midsouth Urology instead. I wish we would have but our insurance is limited. read more

Go anywhere else. Literally anywhere. The front office is full of confusion and incompetence. The billing department needs the patient's help in preparing a proper bill and acknowledging dates of payment. If you have a problem after taking a medication or treatment provided by ANY of the doctors you will be unable to contact ANYONE in the office. All you can do is leave a voicemail and we all know how effective that is. I took a medication prescribed by Dr. Shappley on Monday. On Tuesday morning I awoke to: racing heartbeat, sweating, shaking and BP of 208/120. Called the office for the next two days to 'leave a message' and no one called me back. I went to my primary care physician and he said to stop taking the medicine immediately since what I was experiencing was a COMMON SIDE EFFECT. Dr. Shappley did not even warn me about that. He hardly speaks to patients at all and you have to grab his hand and hold him in place to ask a question. Finally, all the other stuff about the unprofessional staff is correct as well as the incompetent billing. But the most important thing for a future patient to know is that he/she MUST have a primary care physician to consult if things become problematic. You will get no help from the Urology Group. I like Dr. Gubin! I believe he is a good doctor and does good work. My complaint is with the Urology Group Staff. The first time I called (Nov 2020), the receptionist informed me they were not scheduling any more surgeries that year and she did not offer to schedule my surgery for the new year, which seemed odd. I called again in December, this time they scheduled me. When I finally had my surgery, they forgot to give me my prescription as I left. Later the receptionist electronically sent my prescription to my Pharmacy but something about the prescription was incorrect. The pharmacy had to make corrections before he could give it to me. A few weeks later I could not find my checkbook and I finally realized I left it at the Urology Group Office. When I called them, they told me they had it but why didn't they ever call me. I cannot recommend this group. The staff seems to be disorganized and unprofessional. read more

I agree with the other review. We love Dr. Gubin, but the Urology Group's billing department is the most incompetent I have ever had the displeasure of working with. They code claims incorrectly; don't post payments, and don't return phone calls. As I said, we love Dr. Gubin, but we may have to find another urologist because of the hassle of dealing with their billing department. Life has enough frustrations without this!! read more

I saw the other reviews from 2015 and 2017, and can only guess that The Urology Group took that feedback to heart. I've been there twice now, and have also had to call and reschedule an appointment as well as call the nurses' station with a question. With one exception, every single person I've encountered has been welcoming, professional, and courteous. Dr. Shappley took time to listen to my concerns and input at each visit. The reception staff, outtake staff, and all of the nursing staff treated me with courtesy, and I also observed the very kind demeanor they had toward the many seniors who were visiting. There was one older doctor who seemed rather gruff and curt, but that was a passing observation. Everyone else has been wonderful. read more

I went to another urology group before coming to this one. I had been going there a few years then I switched. I really can't remember why but thank God I did. Dr. Greenberger caught my renal cell carcinoma before it moved into stage 3. I would have probably died within a year if I had stayed at the other. How they didn't see a baseball size tumor or blood in my urine is beyond me. Yes any medical offices will have some people that make mistakes but when it comes to the mistakes that can kill you that is a different story. I have been with Dr. Greenberger for 4 years and thank God I am with him. This place is about your health people, not your best friend doing things to make you happy. Get over your silly gripes about stuff that doesn't even matter. read more

The only there is one star is because I cannot leave no stars. Dr Zachary Corr was the worst medical experience I have ever experienced. He treated my 18 year old daughter for kidney stones. He first acted like we were stupid for even thinking she had stones in the first place. Upon CT scan he saw she had a total left kidney blockage. She had laser surgery. Less than a week later she was hurting badly again and he acted like she was stupid again. Guess what? He missed 2 more big stones. She had to have surgery again. Age developed a high fever and he never checked on her or treated her, never even did blood work to ensure she wasn't septic. He was always in a hurry, never explained anything and was sarcastic and condescending. His nurse Kimberly was just as bad. They were unprofessional, horrible care. I would stay far away from this dr and his nurse. They need to learn empathy and compassion. read more
