The store is large and in the middle of a major university campus. So when I walked in at 10:30 on a Friday morning to find two counter employees I was surprised. Luckily, there were only two customers also, so no problem, right? Wrong. My turn came, my ready to go package only needed a return label to go back to Amazon, but the employee could not get his equipment to read my return code on my phone. His attitude:Obviously I was doing something wrong. I got out of line, reloaded my email and code from amazon, got behind the next customer, tried again, same result. Employee realized that the issue was his computer. The only other register has a college student sending out a large stack ( approximately 60) of 9x12 envelopes, all to different addresses. They are about 1/3 of the way thru this stack. Now the line behind me has 5 people in it, all with amazon returns, all needing the one computer that will process us. Eventually they managed to move the student to the other register and I was processed. What should have taken about 30 seconds took probably 15-17 minutes. Any business can have a computer glitch. And their solution was good. Their attitudes were terrible. No apologies to anyone for the inconvenience. The student will all the envelopes apologized for holding up the line. I apologized for getting in and out of line because the employee acted like it was my fault. But the fault was with the business and they never acted concerned or sorry at all. read more

I use this drop off frequently. They are on campus so they are naturally busy. I have always found them to be courteous and helpful.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.... All jokes aside, this is not a joking matter. As a little Christmas present to myself, I decided splurge and send one of my prized possessions off to be engraved. After the countless hours that were spent on my piece I could not wait any longer to have it back in my hands. While I could not afford the overnight rate, I settled with the two-day shipping option provided and guaranteed by UPS. Little did I know that UPS uses dog years when referring to their shipping times. I accidentally sent the package to my school address rather than my home address (that's on me) which caused me to leave my family earlier than I had wished in hopes of regaining possession of my dearest asset. After pacing in and out of my home away from home, in lieu of spending quality time with the fam, I decided to call customer service. Turns out.. They don't drive in the rain. I do. I'm not a quitter. I drove my happy ass down to the Tuscaloosa headquarters with the intention to deliver the package to myself, myself. Not only do they not deliver in the rain (maybe sleet, but I'm not a weatherman) but they completely shutdown when given any opportunity to go home early. Long story short I have been the victim of of poor corporate involvement. My two day shipping has now turned into six day shipping. Went in to deliver a package and needed a shipping label printed. They charged me $1.95 to print a shipping label!!! I called the other ups store and they told me it would have been 17 cents there. Even they said that was absolutely ridiculous. I understand they are on a university campus, but that doesn't mean they should be allowed to gouge prices like that. Unbelievable! read more

I have only shopped at the UPS Store on University Blvd a few times. This is largely because all of the items in the store are grossly overpriced compared to the post office or any other store of this type in town. However, after today, I will never shop at this UPS Store again. I accompanied a friend who needed to have scans made. The cost for 19 scans sent to email? $19.00 (or $1 per page). My friend was shocked by the cost, but felt compelled to pay the clerk because the service had been rendered. We left the store and discussed the matter, and I suggested that she go back in and ask for a refund. We had no idea that there was even a charge for scanning. After all, everything is done electronically. It hardly seems like charging such an exorbitant amount is an incentive to conserve paper and help the planet. Paper copies, we discovered, are only 8 cents per page, but scanning is $1 per page? We went back inside and asked about a refund. My friend offered to delete the scans from her email, so that it would negate the transaction. The clerk, a young woman, said that there were absolutely no refunds in this situation. Her tone of voice was very nasty and argumentative. I then said, "Well, then my friend just wasted $19." She laughed at that, finding it very funny. She then waved and smiled sarcastically saying, "Have a nice daaaaay!" I wish I had had the presence of mind to ask for her name, but I did not, because I was very upset on my friend's behalf, and I was frankly shocked that anyone could be so malicious for no apparent reason. I have worked in retail for years having dealt with many difficult customers, but I have never treated a customer with the disrespect that this young woman directed at my friend and me. I cannot understand someone treating customers with nastiness and sarcasm and then laughing at them. I find this completely unacceptable for any reputable business. read more

The UPS store is so helpful and a great alternative to getting my mail from the Supe-Store. There's hardly ever a line and usually when there is a line I can just say my PO box number and someone in the back will go and grab my packages so it's ready right when I get up to the counter. It's not too expensive either I just pay for a year and then renew it as needed. I've only sent out on package with them and I mentioned it was fragile and they bubble wrapped and sickered it up and made sure it would arrive safely. I highly recommend this UPS store to anyone especially UA students. read more

Always friendly staff. However, I needed to change a package delivery, so I called 1-800-pick-ups. They told me the Tuscaloosa UPS store was the origination of the delivery, I would have to call them and they could change the delivery. When I called I was told that once the packages are gone, they have no more control. I explained what corporate customer service told me, was told that was wrong and asked what number I called. I was little irked by this, as if I called some wrong number. I told her, and she said to call them again. I did. The new customer sevice rep affirmed that indeed the local store could change the delivery in their computer system. It sounds like they just didn't want to. He also told me that each store is individually owned and operated, so there's not much they could do about it. Everyone is usually friendly and ready to help here but after two people telling me the store should help, and them not helping, I'm a little skeptical. I may not be shipping through this store anymore. I shouldn't have to make three phone calls for customer service help. read more
