FedEx Office (or Kinko's, as I STILL think of it all these years later!) is one of those places…read morethat offers about a million services. Which is great, because you can get all kinds of stuff done there -- copies, send a fax, FedEx, etc. -- but terrible, because they can realistically only have so many people working there at one time, so even if you need something basic, it's entirely possible that you'll get stuck behind someone who needs everything but the kitchen sink.
That being said, when I stopped in needing copies of a double-sided, legal-size item, there was an employee clearly assigned to the self-serve area who was happy to get me set up -- swipe your card here, print a sample to check, here's a box for your copies, off you go. Even though it's "self-serve," there are plenty of people like me who are a bit on the slow side, so it's really nice to have someone more familiar with it to help you out. My only real complaint (other than the fact that, surprise, 400 copies take a while) is that the receipt that the machine printed out was confusing as heck. It seemed like it was charging me for 800 single-sided standard copies, so while I'm reasonably certain I still paid the correct rate, it was veeery confusing to look at the counter/charger as it printed the copies, and the receipt just plain doesn't make any sense as a reference.
I also stopped in around 5pm on a weekday intending to drop off a book to have the binding cut off and replaced with a spiral binding. The lady who helped me was a little short on charm, but though I went in expecting to have to come back for it later, she took it straight back and did it while I waited, so it was only about 5 minutes instead of a return trip. All that for six bucks, and I was a pretty happy camper.
Overall, while your mileage may vary, so far FedEx seems to do the job(s).
