Ooof. After the guy in East Moriches wanted $5 per box to take the shower curtain rods to Shirley, I had decided to just return them in the city. But I had to go to Shirley, so thought, "I'll just go to the UPS store there." Huge mistake. There were two rods in two boxes. He said that they had to be in one box, and it would be $20 for a box. I laughed in his face and declined. He shrugged and said that then they couldn't take it. I departed. Found a box at home, and dropped it off at a UPS store in the city. At least they weren't as rude as the awful man in Shirley. I now understand why people will pay $5 a box in East Moriches to NOT go to Shirley. Hint: it's not the distance. It's that guy. I called first and spoke with Amelia. she was so helpful, kind and professional. I asked if there was someone who can help me bring everything in when I arrived and she said definitely! Dave was extremely busy handling a lot of other customers but made time to help me bring in the hefty bags that were full. It was a lot!! Went to this store to ship a package that I already paid for using the mobile app. I needed to add a prepaid return label to the package though, so I bought that at the store using my credit card. After processing it all, the UPS clerk then asks to see my credit card....and photocopies it (front and back) on the photocopier nearby. Didn't explain to me why that was done, but it alarmed me so I went and locked my credit card afterwards. The manager ended up clearing it up with me the next day explaining it is so they can charge me the difference inccase the return package is heavier than what I paid. read more

If there were minus stars I would prefer it - I went in here to return a package as directed by Amazon and the woman at the counter says I need to tape up the top of the bag - it was a rug in a plastic sleeve - so I said can you give me a piece of tape ? She says $5.99 - I turn around and she hands me an open tape ad says here I opened it for you - I ask to see the packaging and she doesn't have it - so she says here let me just give you a new one - suffice it to say the new one was double the size of the one she was trying to pawn off on me for $6.50 - they are thieves and liars !!! I have been using this location for quite a while for all my returns and mailings. This store is horrible with their speed. There have been times where I've stood on line for 45 mins to make a three second return while watching the other employees acting like they're working when they're just standing around. Today, I walked in with my packaged Amazon return and walked up and saw a new face I've never seen before. She tells me she's going to charge me $2.18 for a 3 inch piece of tape. I'm like, "are you kidding me?" Just tape it. I left with my item, called Amazon customer service and told them what happened. They refunded me for the item and told me she shouldn't of tried to charge me for tape. It's not part of that specific return process. So thanks for being a greedy, nasty employee who is probably supervised by the unprofessional employee that sends tasteless responses to the other bad reviews I saw down below. Store provides notary service. I called ahead to confirm. When I arrived, they took my license and entered my license info into computer and had me wait while notary was helping another customer and then looked at the document and said he couldn't notarize the document. Meanwhile the customer was asked from the very beginning what type of document it was before doing anything. read more

Let me start by saying the young man named Daniel P that worked with me today is a star employee. I called the store before I went and he answered all of my questions. Not only was he knowledgeable he was also patient with me. (Sometimes I get a little anxious when asking for help). Once I got to the store he displayed excellent customer service and care. horrible customer service. came a couple times and there's always one employee talking a long time with customers, we all have conversations, but when the line is out the door and your co worker is helping three customers at once it would be nice to take the time to talk later. also was super dismissive and rude to me. the other employee was more than helpful. some people forget we're all human and need a little help sometimes. the last guy helped me tape my package because I didn't have the strong tape, i bought some last time for next time and forgot it. she wouldn't tape it. it's not coming out of her pocket. Daniel and 2 other employees assisted in one way or another to make a successful return of all my items. From an early morning call for information, I was given accurate info from a polite women who answered promptly. I went in to ship 3 packages All 10x10x8 etc one that was slightly bigger all weighing under 20lbs. I was shipping 45 dollars worth of groceries to my 86 year old mother so packages had to be light enough for her to pick up packages? They charged me $190.00. Owner was rude. They are price gouging and making a huge profit from this situation. One box had a 4 pack of toilet paper 4 cans of vegetables and they charged me $53 dollars !! Stay away of this place read more

It's unfortunate, however I am glad to see that I'm not the only person who has had such a terrible experience with this store. The owner is incredibly rude, they nickel and dime you for everything, every time I've gone there they're always seems to be something wrong with the way I have packaged or taped my item and they always want me to buy something new from them. I've been shipping things via UPS for many years and I've never had so many problems as I do when I go to this particular store. Horrible place. I would rather drive 15 miles to the next UPS store t spend my money there. UPDATE: 1/2020 I went to thIs store agaIIn, just before the holiday. I had a box, neatly wrapped with heavy duty brown "shipping" paper. The young man in the store absolutely refused to take my box, stating that the paper jams the machines. Now, when UPS picks up from my house, I have never had them refuse a package wrapped in shipping paper! EVER! so, I called UPS and questioned this policy. The UPS representative filed a complaint on my behalf AND stayed on the phone while I went back into the store and told the young man that his boss is WRONG and that this is NOT a UPS policy, and to accept my package. The young man was either ignorant or arrogant because he said to the UPS rep., I'll accept this package as a one time courtesy. How is it a courtesy?! This is the the second time since my first review that I've had to call "the UPS police" to have them contact this store and tell them to knock it off!!! Of course, it was offered for me to buy another box and tape for an astronomical price (see previous review about being nickel and dimed.) It's a shame to think of how many people fall into this trap when there is nothing wrong with the packaging. Anyhow, a while after that, I went to Kohl's to return an Amazon product But then unfortunately had realized that I had to go to the UPS store and it could not be returned there. I just sort of sighed and made a face and the woman immediately said I know, everyone tells me how nasty they are at that store. First- UPS corporate was contacted on numerous occasions, nothing was resolved. We sent letter certified, nothing was resolved. They asked us to bring back to UPS, we went no one cared or did anything about this. We are now going to small claims court, your Shirley store broke the item or the transit broke the item, the least you could do is use your clout to get us someone to resolve this, we have a letter from the end user, we have photos, we have the item broken and the original kicked in box...so thats a real BS excuse read more

I wish I could rate this store 0-Stars!!! They will rip you off by adding fees for packaging services that are not needed. BEWARE if you use this store! I used this store to return auto parts back to the supplier. I was told by the UPS associate it would cost $155.85 to send the parts back. I was shocked, but the post office was closed and I had to send the parts back that day. I later researched using the UPS website to find that for the size and weight of my packages I should be charged nor more than a maximum of $70.00 dollars. I was quite annoyed after seeing this and I called the store the very next morning. I spoke to a different associate and advised her of the situation. The associate told me that all packages had to be re-boxed to prepare for shipping as per UPS standards (this is not true) and that the re-packaging adds additional costs. I asked why the re-packaging would bring the cost so high... Long story short they refunded me over $80 dollars and blamed it on the original associate using too large a re-packaging box. Well the story doesn't end because the parts store questioned why the shipping (that they had to refund me) was around $70 dollars and that it seemed really high. The parts store manager advised he sends the same parts out using UPS all the time and the shipping is no more than $38 dollars. That means this store tried to OVERCHARGE ME BY $117 DOLLARS!!!!!!! I ended up having to call the corporate office (who had very friendly associates) to get a refund of the difference. The corporate office tried several attempts to get the store owner to call me and resolve the situation between us, but the store manager never called and so the corporate store paid the difference out of their own pocket and also confirmed the $38 Dollar shipping price that was mentioned by the parts store manager. I have warned all my family and friends to stay away from this store and the amusing part was that some of them had their own horror stories to tell about this place. Please don't make the same mistake that I did. Lesson well learned. :-/ read more

A girl named Veronica was the most absolutely patient and helpful person I have ever dealt with. I went into three different Staples and tried to get the same thing accomplished absolutely no resolution. Veronica had me email her what I needed was able to put it together and print it and I picked it up within two hours. Absolutely top-notch professional greatest person I had the pleasure to deal with. What she helped me make helped my business tenfold. Went into the UPS store today to have some papers bound together. When I entered the store with my brother there was no crowd, but I overheard the girl in the store tell someone over the phone it was so busy. I was surprised to see that she lied to the person she was on the phone with, maybe it's someone she didn't want to talk to bit nevertheless she brushed the person off. The second lady working there came up to me and asked what I needed. I told her what I wanted, papers bound together with straps. She said she had something better. I asked her if we can do one to see how it would come out and she said fine. She was right and for only $4.99 it was a great deal. She took care of my work before she really became inundated with drop offs and pick ups. These two girls aren't winning any nice girl competitions, but they get the job done and that's all that matters to me. It wouldn't hurt to have a training class once in a while on customer relations, I'm sure UPS can afford it. read more

Came into the store and Just needed to print out 3 one page documents from my email and wanted me to email them the documents..which was fine...until they said there's a $5 charge for that in addition to the cost of the documents to get printed. What a ripoff! I'm not even from this area but this was the only copy/print store I found in this area and it's so not worth it. Instead we went to the local library, accessed our own email for free and paid $0.30 for the copies. The library even had better customer service and was way more cost-effective. read more

I don't know why this place stays in business. My fiancé just dropped off a package to be sent to my grandparents. The package was an enclosed NEW envelope (no marking or anything on it). I paid for the label online, so it would be an easy drop off. He gets there, and my package is not their packaging (never had this kind of problem in ANY OTHER UPS MIND YOU) and I have to pay an extra amount of money out of my pocket for something that I already paid to have packed. This is the absolute WORST UPS store I have ever been to. tried to drop off a check ackage that needed one piece of tape to secure the box shut, Ive been to many ups stores which always do this as a courtesy for their customers. I'm not asking for something to be wrapped, just one piece of tape. The guy had the ordasity to tell me ha has to charge me $2.75 to tape the box shut. I couldn't purchase a roll of tape but instead the only option given was to pay $2.75 plus tax for a 1 foot piece of shipping tape. TL;DR: Be aware they don't ship packages with FedEx logo's. They will make you buy an envelope to "cover up". The minimum for credit is $5. I wasted a fair amount of my time today learning this. I tried to drop off a postage-paid package for a replacement cell phone from Verizon. It came in a FedEx branded box but with a UPS return label. I peeled off the FedEx labels and taped it up nicely. Brought it into this UPS location and was told it can't be sent in this "FedEx" box and that I had to purchase an envelope in which the box would be placed, then mailed. No blacking out the logo, or taping over it. It just wasn't possible. I was ensured by the UPS store employee that Verizon would refund the additional packaging costs (as it was supposed to be free return postage). I tried, and Verizon did not, and has not heard of anything of the sorts. "A box is a box" the Verizon rep told me, and I agreed. I went back to this UPS store for a refund, a manager was called, then in a feat of incredible intelligence, this happened: the envelope that I had bought (and was already in the mail ready to go), was destroyed so that I may get my money back. I was then returned my original package to be brought to another UPS location or dropbox. Instead of just refunding the money *and* sending the package, resulting in a happy customer, they continue wasting my time, Verizon's time, and are now wasting packaging materials. I continue to waste time writing this yelp review because I am annoyed and would like to share how I will not be doing business with UPS in Shirley any longer. * In response to the store owner comment below, it seems to me that it's more for the protection of your wallet at the expense of your customers. I encourage everyone to read all the reviews, including the "not recommended". FedEx boxes, boxes wrapped in brown paper.. not accepted. This is not a UPS policy, I called. It's this store policy. At what point does a perfectly good box not meet packaging guidelines? Business owner: you are picking small deals off your customers to earn an extra buck, I am sure of this. I do not often experience a business such as this and I would not recommend anyone go here, nor would I reconsider doing business. This is a pretty low income town with many people who work hard.
