I have mailing addresses at UPS Stores in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana & Michigan. The UPS Store in Portage, IN stands head and shoulders above all of them. Today, I visited the store to return a defective item to Amazon. The clerk insisted that I had to purchae a brown box for $17.90, although the item was neatly packaged in the manufacturer's box and I had already printed a label. The clerked pulled off the label, I assume to attach to their overpriced box. I left with my package and the label and went to the Merrillville UPS store. The clerk kindly reattached my label and shipped the box off as I had repackaged it -- at no charge to me. Watch out for stores making a profit by insisting that customers must purchase items and services that they don't need! read more

The manager Kimberly is a rude and disrespectful person. Never have I been treated so terribly by a company employee. She has no customer service etiquette whatsoever. Rudely told me I was taking too much time and had the other employee stop helping me! Yelled across the store, and made me feel so uncomfortable. First time I went into the store she was talking terrible about another customer that just left!! Never saw this in my life!! She has had many complaints and yet still employed by UPS, not a great look for a store. I reached out by email to the owner or supervisor and no response. Went back in to ask for the owners name and she wouldn't give it to me! This was months ago. Still have to use that store but wouldn't if there was another around. read more

I don't use this service a lot, but my partner ordered 3 recliners though Amazon that we didn't need by mistake. I requested a return authorization for 2 of them. I also had to request a return and refund for a coat she erroneously ordered.(She has MS and her fingers sometimes double tap without her knowledge-sigh). This store has a very friendly and helpful staff/crew. Always friendly and courteous making the effort seem seamless. I will always use them when given the opportunity. read more

I have used this UPS Store several times in the past for shipping packages to customers that have asked that I do not use the Postal Service. Every time that I have used the UPS Store website for calculating shipping costs, the actual amount that I'm charged when I get to this store is always 10-15% more than what the website quoted. I use accurate dimensions and weight although most times I'm charged "dimensional weight" because the boxes are larger than they are heavy. The last time I tried to ship a box there, the woman told me that my shipping quotes from the website were wrong because they always add to the actual dimensions. She said they "get in trouble" if they use the accurate size of the box or package. I have now stopped going to this UPS Store location. read more

The UPS Store in Portage, IN is extremely friendly. Whenever I come in to return amazon packages, they always have the friendliest smile on their face. Went in there to print a single black and white page, and handed the clerk my USB drive with the file on it. Most places charge $0.10 to $0.50 cents per page, so I was a bit shocked when the total came to over $3.30 for a single page (they tacked on a $3.00 "computer fee"). I would have just walked out without the printout, but I needed the USB drive back. Well done UPS store, for a measly $3.00 you've created a customer who absolutely hates you. I have utilized this location a few times and the staff has been accommodating and provided decent customer service. Unfortunately my experience today has discouraged me from patronizing this location. The employee assisting me was very rude and spoke to me as if I am a child. Totally unacceptable. Please ma'am don't ever tell a customer they gave you lip! Total turn off! Hopefully no one else will experience such a harsh and argumentative experience. read more

Absolute worst service I've ever had. I placed a large print order on 12/11/20. My order was marked completed on 12/15/20. I went to pick it up, and they told me they hadn't printed it because they didn't offer special binding. I was never called and updated, instead they made me drive there to answer a question that could have been done over the phone (my number was attached to my order). They still offered print it and told me it would be ready the next day. Which I drove back, and it was not ready. They told me they would call when they found it, but they never called. I called about the order several times and no one could tell me an update. I then found out that it was marked complete so they couldn't access the files any longer. Here I am on 1/27/21 still haven't recieved the product. I finally got to corporate this week to get a full refund. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. Will not be going back read more

Of people at the UPS Store in Portage Indiana were phenomenal they walked us through every step of the return policy of amazon.com saved us lots of money we talkin 30 bucks I believe they need a raise just for putting up with us this morning and the wonderful job they do read more

I give this UPS store 5 stars for excellent customer service. Beth, the manager, is very knowledgeable and gives all the shipping options. She's very friendly and always does a good job packing my items - nothing I have shipped has ever got broke or even chipped. Packing antiques is her specialty. Horrible service. The two young women were extremely unhelpful. Ultimately I chose to use the post office to mail my packages.

I've been to this UPS store 3 times and all 3 times the employees were extremely rude. There is no friendliness, they talk to you like you are an idiot. They completely lack basic customer service skills. read more
